Lyrics for One Gun as interpreted by jc6md

One Gun Lyrics
The eyes of the patriot fixed through the scope
The unknowing tyrant walks to the rope
It's when murder is justice that martyrs are made
A one-gun salute for the new independence day
They'll hallow your name
They'll hallow your name for your sacrifice
The sins of deliverance
"So let the wicked perish in the presence of God"
The sins of the father atoned by the son
Confessions of commitments broken
A nail driven for every one (of them)
It's when murder is justice that martyrs are made
A one-gun salute for the new independence day
They'll hallow your name
They'll hallow your name for your sacrifice
You are the cause, I am the effect
Created in hatred, a noose for your neck
The eyes of the patriot fixed through the scope
The unknowing tyrant walks through the rope
They'll hallow your name

i can't believe no one has commented on this badass song

ok it IMO has to do with the iraq war and all that shit over there

"The eyes of the patriot fixed through the scope
The unknowing tyrant walks to the rope" means IMO that we just went over there and just took over basically without warning. "It's when murder is justice that martyrs are made" is saying IMO that the US is making its alright to go murder thousands of iraqis calling it "justice" and martyrs being the thousands of US troops who have also died. "The sins of the father atoned by the son" IMO means that GW Bush is "finishing what his father started"

I pretty much agree. But I think the line "It's when murder is justice that martyrs are made" has more to do with muslims becoming martyrs. Since they are the ones getting murdered and killing themselves in the name of their religion.

Obviously about the Iraq conflict, and the soldiers who died in it.

I think the line: "The sins of the father atoned by the son" is about George Bush, trying to finish what his daddy started.

The line: "The unknowing tyrant walks to the rope" , is about how the soldiers are led to believe that they are fighting (and dying) to liberate the people of Iraq and that they will therefore be embraced as saviours, when in reality, the opposite is true. the US/Uk soldiers are viewed, by the people of Iraq, with fear and as the reason that members of their families are dead.

I think this song is actually about assassinating Bush, saying that someone should do it. that person is basically fucked, but it needs to be done. "they'll hallow your name for your sacrifice"

Ironically, Bush Jr. atones Sr.'s sins by being killed i believe. The nails speak of nails being driven into a coffin, a reference to the slow condemnation Bush subjected himself to.

If this song referred to Iraq, the murder in question wouldn't be justice. Thats the key, Lamb advocates this murder, and advocates the martyr.

I'm pretty sure this is right because there are problems with the iraq theory, and there are lots of other songs on the album about Iraq, like Hourglass and Now You've Got Something. This song is specifically about Bush.

Oh, and a "One Gun Salute" is an incredibly witty way of phrasing an assassination. "The New Independence Day" is what happens when we are free of bush.

Dear holymetalhead69 - Jesus isn't part of metal. lamb of God is not a christian name. They used to be called burn the priest, lamb of god is an ironic backlash from burn the priest because they didn't want to be mistake as being satanic. To quote another of my favorite bands, Cradle of Filth... "Jesus is a Cunt"

Lamb of God is saying that if someone assassinated Bush, they would be right up there with Jesus: they'd give they're life to better the world. As wordy as the lyrics are, they don't go much deeper than that.

This song makes me think about how GW Bush is a religious extremist just like the Muslim and Islamic extremists. I'm not sure if that is what Randy was going for, I actually doubt that is what this song is even about. That's just what it makes me think about.

I don't think that "The sins of the father atoned by the son" is talking about the Bushes.

I think it is about how hatred transendes generations and time. The fathers sin is his enemys atonement, and his sons atonement is is the enemys sin.

the sins of the world led to Jesus' coming. unrighteousness is the cause, Jesus is the effect.

do you all also ignore Omerta as well? The biggest case of omerta was Jesus.

"only the dead have seen the end of the war" y dont you just go away... there is no room fro jesus in metal. " ilikemetal, you're hilarious, man. How can you say that Jesus doesn't belong in metal? The greatest metal heads in the world acknowledged Jesus. Metallica, Pantera, Manson, Slayer. I could be so bold to say that without Jesus there would be no metal. The very essence of metal is rebellion against the mainstream, the so-called "right way." God and Jesus are the iconic figures we rebel against as well as government officials and people in power in general.

I myself am not a believer and I believe that berating people because they've found guidance in life is the way of the idiot.

To sum it all up. Quit judging people and worry about your own life, this world is bad enough without having anti-religious zealots at your throat telling you you're wrong at every turn. If people want to believe that Jesus died for their sins, so what. Show you have intelligence by accepting people for who they are.

"Its when murder is Justice that martyrs are made"

American soldiers are "murdering" people over in Iraq. That is when the "martyrs" are made. If you dont believe they treat people like shit over there, just go to youtube or googlevideo and do a few searches on "Iraq, torture, civilian, abuse" and im sure you will find plenty.

Lamb of God is condemning this murder, and saying that the sniper should kill the tyrant (bush) who is "walking to the rope". While the sniper will be hated for killing the american president, his sacrifice is needed.

*just a note: the martyr is the sniper AND the muslims/Iraqi's/carbombers/etc

This is one of those songs that I thought was "okay" at first. Then as I listened to it more, I came to absolutley love this song. Just about my favorite song right now. And I am 100% convinced of what Itzamna was saying. Well done Itzamna. This is about the assassination of that bastard Bush.

This song is about the Iraq War and those Iraqis fighting in it. The "unknowing tyrant" is Saddam Hussein. The patriot is the common people who are fighting for their freedom, fighting for what they believe in. Also, everyone knows how some Muslims view martyrs as heroes. They "hallow their name for their sacrifice."

I agree with the whole assassination idea. Some other things not mentioned:
"They'll hallow your name for your sacrifice...
So let the wicked perish in the presence of God"

Maybe the "God" mentioned is representing the sniper or the assassin... hence hallowing his name. And bush or another political figure being the wicked.
