Lyrics for Vertigo as interpreted by Lyra

Vertigo Lyrics
Unos dos tres catorce!

Lights go down, it’s dark
The jungle is your head
Can’t rule your heart
A feeling is so much stronger than
A thought
Your eyes are wide
And though your soul
It can’t be bought
Your mind can wander

Hello hello
I’m at a place called Vertigo
It’s everything I wish I didn’t know
Except you give me something I can feel, feel

The night is full of holes
As bullets rip the sky
Of ink with gold
They twinkle as the
Boys play rock and roll
They know they can’t dance
At least they know

I can’t stand the beats
I’m asking for the cheque
The girl with crimson nails
Has Jesus round her neck
Swinging to the music
Swinging to the music
Oh oh oh oh

Hello hello
I’m at a place called Vertigo
It’s everything I wish I didn’t know
But you give me something I can feel, feel

Check mated
Oh yeah
Hours of fun

All of this, all of this can be yours
All of this, all of this can be yours

All of this, all of this can be yours
Just give me what I want and no-one gets hurt

Hello hello
We’re at a place called Vertigo
Lights go down and all I know
Is that you give me something
I can feel your love teaching me how
Your love is teaching me how, how to kneel
Yeah yeah yeah yeah

ALSO- does being "forty-something" mean "where can we go from here"?...not forgetting that Bono said , I believe, in an interview they chose Vertigo as the initial release because of the opening line of the chorus..."Hello, Hello (Hola!)"- and don't forget where the Joshua tree grows...

Sorry Ravenmaster, but the lyrics are "Un, dos, tres, catorce" (1,2,3,14) NOT "once, doce, trece, catorce" (11,12,13,14)

Listen to the first word and the effects on the voice..
He definitely does NOT say "Uno" - he says UNS(to pictorialize, as such). If you dont hear it- find a better version , or a hearing aid. PLEASE NOTE- not trying to start an argument here, but I have watched the vid and listened to lyrics on 5 different formats now....
and if you want to challenge that- go to the numeric sequence I started the letter with.... I am raising the bar here...and unless you ARE Bono, get some facts.

Also : "un" is "a" in spanish..... you so far appear to be a punk born when they started out to the bigtime....catch up, or grow up, or shut up....

Yeap, ravenmaster you're probably right. But I think I'll wait for the album to come out, and then correct the lyrics.Just to check with the booklet.

Dude get off my back. A punk? No need for pointless accusations. "Un" means "a" and "one" for your information. I have yet to see any lyric website that supports your number sequence. Maybe you could give me one. Go to interference.com and look in the forums. Nobody believes its 11,12,13,14. Because why would it be? Personally, I think your reasoning for why its 11,12,13,14 is quite farfetched. Also you said I need to "get some facts", well what makes you think you are right? I have found tons of sites/people supporting my reasoning, and....uhhh....nothing supporting yours. So not trying to start a brawl, I was just stating my opinion in response to your first post. It wasnt meant to be rude. You need some chill pills dude.

Umm. You can download the album AND buy the collector's set. I always find it better to sample the music before I splurge how many dollars on music.

Yer, i can kinda see your point there, but i dont want to add to the download of this album and i am moraly against the download of an album on the internet before its release....also, there is no way i need to sample this album before i splurge, i know its gonna rock socks....lots!

it's definetly 1 , 2 , 3 , 14, trust me i'm spanish, but i dunno why they put that sequence and not 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 (one two three four). in many radios here there's contests where the people send their own answers

I heard the 1, 2, 3, 14 represented the albums they had done with Steve Lillywhite as their producer.

i think absolut is right, its the steve lillywhite production. he DEFINATLY doesnt say 11 12 13.
i really like the spannish backing vocals in the chorus, sounds so good.
btw "newyearsday" the vines are so terrible its untrue.

I heard Bono interviewed on BBC Radio 1 this afternoon. When questioned about 'Una, dos, tres, catorce...', he replied that "There may have been a little drink involved...". QED.

This is the best song they've put out in years, and I look forward to the album.

The meaning of this song clicked for me in the bridge, "All this can be yours..." which is a close paraphrase of Matthew 4:9 when Christ is being tempted by satan in the wilderness. All he was asked to do is to bow down and worship satan and everything that they saw would be given to him.

the song also caught my attention in this part. do you think it has a relation with the song´s title? because I think that text in the Bible (Matthew 4.9) says something about Satan lead Jesus to an upper place or a high place, an elevated place, something lke that... what do u think?

you guys realize this is a rip off of the vines - get free

the whole main guitar riff is that song is from that part where the vines sing 'come here come here come here, ill take your photo for ya"

i have to agree with the ravenmaster here. i listened a dozen of times to the intro very carefully, and believe me, he obviously does NOT say 'uno'. i'm not sure about the dos/doce or tres/trece, but just listen to the count... does anyone actually hear him pronounce a 'u'? he definately doesn't say uno. it may be the original lyric, Bono may sing it live, Bono may have written it down, and it might just be the real word, but on the recording there's no sign of a 'uno', actually i hear an 'once'. so there i agree with the ravenmaster. and any of you who won't agree with him, have to take a hearing aid like ravenmaster told you.

wow good job finding a site that says "once." I dont know why you say its the "correct lyric", but oh well. All the main U2 sites- interference, @u2, u2ground, all say "uno." I am positive the lyric is "uno" If it turns out to beat "once" or anything else for that matter, I will go outside, find a dead crow, and eat it.
