i'm an angel with broken wings,
who's poisoning the night
with love, from me to you
i'm having an episode,
do you want a small bit part?
i think you might, i hope you do

oh baby go so slowly
nowhere, nothing, quiet softly

the world falls apart, in just seven days
it sinks to the bottom, in oceans of rain
the cure is so clear, the blood is astray
and everyone dies, except for the rain
...and i think that i'm starting to scare myself

i hate myself, and i want you to die
so insincere, swallowing ice
and it all will render useless
welcome to enhancement by affiliation
time swept by in a hungry nation
and everybody's dancing to get it off their chests
and everybody dies, but no one gets to rest

go slow for the angels will fall
for the betterness of this orgy god
half lives with secular law
suspended in a drug like state of bliss

General Comment:I thoroughly enjoy that people continue to speculate as to the meaning of this song when syrusjono nailed it with the second comment of the page.
This song has clear Marxian influences. The quote syrusjono referred to reads "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people." Marx's intention was to throw the spotlight on the use of religion by capitalist macrostructures as an instrument of control to appease the general population and prevent the "inevitable" revolution. Of course, this contention was admittedly near sighted, as institutions have been using religion to control the masses for hundreds (read thousands) of years before the birth of capitalism. Certainly, the point stands true nonetheless.
But I digress. The genius of Action Action delivers through this song a vividly graphic portrayal of their interpretation of this Marxian concept.

It's reassuring that some artists are still capable of producing intelligent and artistic lyrics, even if their fans lack the intelligence to interpret them. "It also seems hes trying to convince someone else to take some drugs along with him"... Really? Are you kidding me?

General Comment:I think with all the "fallin angel" refrences, they are refering to the devil. Also the "orgy god" is another name for the devil, since he is the king of sins and premisuous sex. And with all the drugs and the refrences that sound like peer pressure, is simply relating to how the devil is evil and wants you to make bad choices. Action action is a band that (if you read other lyrics) are clear to be non-reglious. So lyrics of the devil are no suprise.

General Comment:I don't really understand the meaning completely. It seems like it would be something biblical, like apocolypse or something. It's a good song no matter the meaning!

General Comment:yeah...i really don't think it was meant to be taken litterally for those who might think that he really thinks hes an angel...action action is great with metaphores and using words to create hard to describe feelings. thats why i love them so much!

General Comment:I think that the key to this song is in the title: Drug LIKE, not Drug Induced. I say this mainly because some of the comments above mine say things that imply him actually being high. That said, here are my overall and line-by-line analyses.

"I'm an angel with broken wings, who's poisoning the night with love, from me to you." I think that he's saying that metaphorically, he's the angel with broken wings (not in his drugged state, but that he actually IS that angel) because he was once pure and innocent and such but he's strayed so far from that that he has broken wings (he's imperfect) and he's poisoning the night with love from him to them because his love is mixed in with the desire that they fall with him.

"I'm having an episode. Do you want a small bit part? I think you might, I hope you do." This line, to me, says that his episode seems to him like something you may experience in a high (hence the title) but that this episode is more like a minor psychotic breakdown or bipolar episode. When he asks "do you want a small bit part? I think you might, I hope you do" we can refer to the previous three lines where he wants others to share his pain.

Honestly, I have no idea what the next two lines refer to, but if I were to venture a guess, I'd say that he's maybe continuing on the concept above where the person he was speaking to decides they'll try to experience it so he's instructing them "go so slowly, nowhere, nothing, quiet, softly" in how to use said episode to their advantage, maybe as inspiration for songs as awesome as these ;)

Continuing on this theory, I think that "the world falls apart in just seven days...and everyone dies, except for the rain" is him trying to describe his episode - how he feels and what he envisions. "I think that I'm starting to scare myself" is seemingly his response to his episode which, given his mental imaging, seems more than reasonable.

When he continues to say "I hate myself and I want you to die" (amazing line, by the way) I think that he's saying that BECAUSE whoever he's speaking to is so insincere about experiencing the episode, it will be rendered useless and he therefore hates them and wants to die because nobody can relate.

"Welcome to enhancement by affiliation" seems to be saying that if they can't experience it other than in his descriptions, his affiliating feelings to something more tangible that they can understand, they'll never really get anywhere. This line seems to be almost sarcastic, as if he's given up on them and is saying something along the lines of "here you go, it's the best I can do if you won't work with me"

In "everybody's dancing to get it off their chests," I think IT is those unresolved feelings from having not really experienced them first-hand. He then continues to say that "everybody dies, but no one gets to rest" because they can never be satisfied in having experienced the true helplessness that he's feeling as the angel with broken wings watching the world fall apart at the seems. It seems to portray the same nihilism we see in Chuck Palahniuk's books (author of Fight Club).

General Comment:"the world falls apart, in just seven days"
that part sounds like a refrence to the bible, but instead of the world was created in 7 days, it shows that it can be destroyed just as quickly.

anyway, this song is amazing and so is the video for it
