Thanks for all you've done
I've missed you for so long
I can't believe you're gone
You still live in me
I feel you in the wind
You guide me constantly

I've never knew what it was to be alone, no
'Cause you were always there for me
You were always home waiting
But now I come home
And I miss your face so
Smiling down on me
I close my eyes to see

Chorus:
And I know
You're a part of me
And it's your song
That sets me free
I sing it while
I feel I can't hold on
I sing tonight
'Cause it comforts me

I carry the things
That remind me of you
In loving memory of
The one that was so true
You were as kind as you could be
And even though you're gone
You still mean the world to me

I never knew what it was to be alone, no
'Cause you were always there for me
You were always home waiting
But now I come home
And it's not the same, no
It feels empty and alone
I can't believe you're gone

Repeat Chorus

I'm glad He set you free from sorrow
But I'll still love you more tomorrow
And you'll be here with me still
All you did, you did with feeling
And you always found a meaning
And you always will
And you always will
And you always will

Repeat Chorus

My Interpretation:This song was written about one of the band member's mother who passed away, but could definitely relate to the death of a loved one for anyone. The singer talks about how much he misses her, yet is thankful for the love she gave him throughout his life. He is struggling to cope without her presence but takes comfort that her presence will always remain within himself.

    My Opinion:WOW!

While I'm pretty familiar with the Blackbird album, I just got my hands on this one a few days ago.

So I was driving on my way to school, listening to the album all the way through. I was enjoying all the songs, and then this one came on.

Halfway through this song, I'm driving down the highway in tears. I remembered the backstory my brother told me about it being about Mark Tremonti losing his mom, and that got me thinking of how it'd feel to lose mine, and it just really got to me.

I can't wait for the new album! I have every bit of faith that they'll keep up the good work.

General Comment:This song reminds me of my grandmother, she died when I was really young, but I spent almost every day with her. In the end she had dementia and cancer, last time I saw her she didn't know who I was. But I'll never forget her.

Memory:I lost my ex-wife the mother of my daughter in 2006 from a drug over dose..(A nice way to say suicide) She is missed so much and I miss her more each day. This song is dedicated to her. Every time this song comes on the tears start rolling and the emotions are pretty high. Great song.

General Comment:This song perfectly describes how I feel about my Grandma. We were very close, and she had the biggest impact on my life thus far. Even though she's gone now, she continues to influence many of the decisions I make and paths I choose.

I lived with my grandparents, and I'd come home from school after she died, and it really did feel empty and alone. I half-expected to still see her sitting in her recliner, waiting for me to come home. I really was never alone when I had her in my life.

After I accepted her death, I came to realize that she is always with me, and truly does live through me.
