When we were younger we used to sit on my porch
And talk smack about girls and professional sports
There’s a lot of things I wanted to say
But never got a change to find a way

(One) take a good look at all of your high schools
this is the first reason that I want to write you
it must be tough when society is messed up
Gotta save money, please don’t take it out on us

Do they even know? Do they even know?

If I was brave I’d write a letter to the president
And have him pass it to the leaders of our parliament
But for now I won’t say nothing
From all the kids who would stand in my residence
Who see this letter as a statement of our innocence
But for now I won’t say nothing

Now that we’re older a brand new story unfolds
About God and the laws that we’ve always been told
And there’s a lot of things I wanted to say
But never got a change to find a way

Same-sex marriage in a stat where they don’t care
Murder is wrong but the jail time’s not fair
Not to mention date rap, felony and car theft
Break it down and tell me what we’ve got left

Do they even know? Do they even know?

If I was brave I’d write a letter to the president
And have him pass it to the leaders of our parliament
But for now I won’t say nothing
From all the kids who would stand in my residence
Who see this letter as a statement of our innocence
As for now I’ll start with something

Take a good look at Tommy, he’s a track star
Good role model, had a change to go real far
Then the school made a budget-cut
Cut out the track team
Now instead Tommy is a crack head

Same-sex marriage in a state where they don’t care
Murder is wrong but the jail time’s unfair
Not to mention date rape, felony, and car theft
Break it down and tell me what we’ve got left

If I was brave I’d write a letter to the president
And hove him pass it to the leaders of out parliament
But for now I won’t say nothing
From all the kids who would stand in my residence
Who see this letter as a statement of our innocence
As for now I’ll start with something

General Comment:I honestly don't understand why so many Christians think same sex marriage is wrong. I'm Christian, but my Faith is based around my realization that I can always be wrong. As far as the Bible goes, I understand that it was obviously inspired by the words of God but I still think about one little fact: Human error and ignorance. The Bible was literally written by human hands and humans obviously aren't perfect. I don't rule out, even entertain the possibility that what God said to those who wrote the Bible may have been taken out of context or even fabricated. I choose to believe that if God is flawless, than He will love you no matter what. It doesn't matter if you're homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual, male, or female. You're still human and, I choose to believe, made in His image.

Call me a heretic, Agnostic, Atheist, etc. Frankly I don't care if you see me as against what God said. I know what I believe and why I believe it. If I'm wrong, I have no problem repenting.

In a more Humanistic way, consider this: Why would someone consciously CHOOSE to be gay when they would be ridiculed, shunned, or even ousted from society and Heaven? Embrace others as you would like to be embraced.

General Comment:This song says everything that most kids think nowadays. We here all sorts of crap about same sex marriage and date rape. Most of us want it to change, but we won't put out the effort to change it ourselves. This is one of my favorites by Hawk Nelson!

General Comment:"Same-sex marriage in a stat where they don’t care" I am glad to see someone firm enough in their beliefs to say something on such a controversal topic

General Comment:i think this song should go for both canada and america... these presidents worry too much on the here and now, and not on the future, I guess that is their job, but we can get over the here and now, and if we improve the future, we could have better times later on. It seems like a difficult obsticle with the economy tho...

General Comment:for all of you that dont know, they address this issue lining up with Christian beliefs. They know what the Bible says, and I think it's great they wrote this song. because Gay Marrige is COMPLETLEY against God. thats why they say its wrong.

General Comment:Wow This is really great song. About time there's a more conservative message being talked about. Sure beats that song by Pink titled "Dear Mr. President".

"Murder is wrong but the jail times not fair"

I believe that's referring to the criminals point of view. Kind of obvious... but some of you kids didn't get it.

General Comment:So, henceforth, even though same-sex marriage is wrong in the eyes of God (and should be in the eyes of Christians), we should show them compassion and unconditionnal love. And I'm sure Jason Dunn and co. realize that :)

General Comment:God loves everyone, no matter what. Christians are taught to love thy neighbour, no matter what sexual orientation, race, or contradicting religion. Even though the Bible teaches that same-sex marrage is wrong, God wants us to show compassion to them and not completely shun/persecute them.

    General Comment:go loves everyone yes.

    but he hates sin.
oh and because someone is speaking up for their beliefs you hate them?

    whats up with that dude?

you just spoke up your beliefs and i dont hate you.

oh nad they arent afraid to speak up about the government, if they were then they wouldnt have written this song, duh.

oh and m333333, if you seriously say the Bible contradicts itself then you obviously havent read it yourself.

maybe you need to stop trusting the internet or some idiot on a television screen and start looking into things yourself.
