When the shirt came off, it was all in time
When a minute turned into a mile
And then I broke that grin, and I cut it out
And you got all turned on by the taste of your sin
When I mention blue, all you thought was color
When you mention drugs, all I thought was sober
When your pants came off and I turned you over
When you mention blue

Kill, smile, cut it out for me this time
Smile, haven't seen him smile in awhile.

Keep the mask aligned
Get it up in time
There's a space between valleys
and try and catch a vibe
Make a circle square, a rectangle curve
Use a smile as a noun and I think like a verb
Run quick switch sides
Spill the filled up canister
And the room is shaking
Now you're changing places,
and I switched my pace,
and my breathing races when you mention blue

Kill, smile, cut it out for me this time
Smile, haven't seen him smile in awhile.
Kill, smile, cut it out for me this time
Smile, haven't seen him smile in awhile.
You, smile, cut out for me cut it cut it out
Smile, cut it out for me cut it cut it out
We cut it out
Get down and stay awake
Smile

General Comment:Since everyone seems to think this song has something to do with sex (and I agree, it does), this is an AWESOME song to have angry sex to :-)

General Comment:I don't think anyones taken into account the fact that his wife or girlfriend kate overdosed on july 4th 2004 while she was pregnant with his child, paige. Its possible that the blue is a reference to meth, not to mention the blatant line talking about drugs, and the mask lyric is probably about the oxygen she received while being rushed to a hospital. Plus every minute turned into a mile? He probably felt like it was forever when all of these events occured. Such a shitty thing to happen to someone but he immortalized her through a song. Eric clapton did the same thing with tears in heaven about his about 4 or 5 year old son dying and blaming himself. Maybe it was berts way or relinquishing himself of the guilt and pain of the experience.

General Comment:I think the songs about drugs, gay sex and a mistake. Hence the reason he 'hasn't seen him smile in a while' whether its because of the drugs or the obvious reference to gay sex, its all speculation.
I watched a live performance and Bert says 'got all turned on by the taste of the ocean' someone said thats a reference to homosexuality, I dont know, but it could also be reference to the drug 'blue'.
One of my fave's from The Used.

PS: Bert has an awesome voice and this song just makes that obvious.

General Comment:Obviously it's about drugs and sex of some kind, but look at the lyric "cut it out for me this time". I think that that suggests that two different people are doing drugs together and that the person screaming (Bert) is asking the other person to cut the drug for him. Ya know, like put it in a line or make sure it's not laced, or maybe even that it doesn't have any crystals left in it. Idk though. That's just what I thought of when I heard it.

General Comment:so, i'm commenting on this VERY late and for that i apologize. but i just sat here and read through all of the comments and i'm surprised that not one person thought of this..
blue and yellow was written from Bert to Quinn after a fight between the two. "Blue" is a reference to Quinn. hence the blue rose Bert has tattooed on his arm. which to me, would mean this song has to do with some sort of sexual relationship between the two. you know you've heard the stories and seen the pictures of the two. plus, i recently watched an interview between the two talking about when they lived together. the question asked was something along the lines of "what did you decorate the walls of your room with?" and Bert said blue and Quinn said yellow and they both slyly looked at eachother. i'm a firm believer that this song is about Bert and Quinn.
as for the "and you got all turned on by the taste of your sin"..they were both raised in strict religious families, so having "gay sex" can be seen by some as a sin.
i always thought this was general knowledge about this song..or maybe i'm just being stupid, hahahha

General Comment:The Line "haven't seen him smile in a while" is taken from the Blind Melon song "Mouthful of Cavities." They asked the band for permission to use that line.
