Lyrics for Every Man Has His Molly as interpreted by AllStarMe

Every Man Has His Molly Lyrics
here i am, laid bare
at the end of my rope
i’ve lost all hope, so long
molly connolly just broke up with me
over the revealing nature of the songs
you god damn kids
had best be gracious with
the merch money you spend
because for you
i won’t ever have rough sex
with molly connolly again

here i am, laid down
at the end of my rope
wishing i had not been born
now i’ve spewed too much
i can never shut it up
i thought you should be warned
and i implied black sky
took the needle to my eye
and sucked out all its glow
molly connolly ruined my life
i thought the world should know

i can’t stop thinking about
what she did wrong to me
i can’t figure out
just what i did wrong
i’ll kill myself thinking about
the things that you did to me
molly connolly

I don't think that there is anything to look into in this song - what makes it so good is just how incredibly blunt it is.
I really do love Max Bemis, he is undisputably a legend <333

Is there a way to change the song title? The name of the song is definitely Every Man Has A Molly.

loving this track. it's like he's taking the piss out of all the emo bands who whine about how mean girls are to them. saying he can't figure out what he did wrong and that she ruined his life despite the fact that she clearly explained why she was breaking up with him: "the revealing nature of the songs"
i'm lovin' it!

are the "revealing" songs he talks about other songs on the album? like, does anyone know if "woe", just as an example, could be about her taking pity "horizontally" on him? so its like a continuing story.

and hey jonnyboy, its not just about guys loving girls! if every man has a molly, every girl has a michael or something lol i know i do.

idc about a hidden meaning. its about every guy who has had some girl they loved, but then got dumped and their life fucked up and ruined.

I must admit I am normally one to over-read stuff into songs. But I do just think that this is about... Well exactly what it says.

I love how simple it is.
Don't take that away from me!

since max is a big std fan, i always thought that molly connolly was a reference to saves the day. i remember chris talking about liking a girl named molly before singing "houses & billlboards", and in another song he actually says something like "sitting by a girl named molly." and chris' last name is conley, which is spelled diefferent but sounds pretty much identical.

I was hoping that this "Molly Connolly" character would turn out to be Chris Conley's sister or something.
That would be cool.

This song to me is about

A rock star ("Had Best Be Gracious With The MERCH MONEY you spend")who broke up with his girlfriend And goes to depression and odviously killes himself ("I'll Kill Myself, I'll Kill Myself,I'll Kill Myself.")

I think some are over analyzing this song. Especially with the drug refrence. Most of the songs Max Bemis has personally explained are exactly what the lyrics state. There is usually no deeper message, that's how great they are.

is it just me or does like every say anything song have a comment that has to do with the recording industry.. i dislike it as much as the next guy but seriously, i'm sure max has other things running through his mind other than his intense hate for the main source of his income

im pretty sure its part irony like funk minister says, but i think its a lot of self-deprecation, like early weezer. hes whining about how much he hates that he whines. i dont think this song is really about molly, but the feeling you get when youre pissed at her and more yourself for being such a shithead about it.

The best part is that he says they broke up "over the revealing nature" of his songs, and yet he uses her name! It's like "BITCH WHAT NOW". Irony to the max, which is what makes Max the best.

There's an online interview with Bemis where the reporter asks "Is Molly Connolly a real person?" and Bemis replies something along the lines of: It's two girls I put together. So. There you go.

to falling:

the idea that every single song max makes is going to be metaphoric in every way is sorta nice
but not at all in truth
i want to know your plans isnt about a record deal is it?
this song is a breakup song because it IS a rock opera
the rock opera is where he busts out in the most HONEST straightforward feeling
and he put out the song and molly couldnt stand it
of course the whole record deal and drugs opinions are respectable
i dont think they work

you have to think about it though... when would max write a song for his fans that has the meaning right infront of their faces? i mean come on that would take the fun out of almost every single song written in the history of music. thats the artists fun of writing music. theyre wanting to convey a message to their listeners without them really knowing it until its further explored.

Can't this song just be about some chick dumping him for the nature of the songs? Why does it always have to have some sort of hidden meaning. Its like, right in front of you.

i really like the record label idea, drug addiction might work too, but the first one is sooooo metaphorically possible.
