Lyrics for Amerika as interpreted by Shoot_Me

Amerika Lyrics
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

Wenn getanzt wird will ich führen
auch wenn ihr euch alleine dreht
Lasst euch ein wenig kontrollieren
Ich zeige euch wie es richtig geht
Wir bilden einen lieben Reigen
Die Freiheit spielt auf allen Geigen
Musik kommt aus dem Weißen Haus
und vor Paris steht Micky Maus

We're all living in Amerika
Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

Ich kenne Schritte die sehr nützen
und werde euch vor Fehltritt schützen
Und wer nicht tanzen will am Schluss
weiß noch nicht dass er tanzen muss
Wir bilden einen lieben Reigen
Ich werde euch die Richtung zeigen
Nach Afrika kommt Santa Claus
und vor Paris steht Micky Maus

We're all living in Amerika
Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

We're all living in Amerika
Coca-Cola, Wonderbra
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

This is not a love song
This is not a love song
I don't sing my mother tongue
No, this is not a love song

We're all living in Amerika
Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

We're all living in Amerika
Coca-Cola, sometimes war
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

Even if this song has anti-American intentions i don't think it does. They mean no matter where you are on Earth you have been touched by American culture.

P.S. Why are we arguing about the past? WWII was a LONG time ago it wont fix the situation our corrupt politicians got us in.

Gotta love Rammstein-good song

I like this song. I'm an American and dont always agree with what our government does. I think we just need to back off until somethin thats actually serious happens, like 9/11. Now whether that was 'set up' by our govt, I dunno and dont have the energy for this conspiracy s***. We should just focus on our own problems instead of tryin to fix everyone else's. Again, unless its somethin absolutely serious like if someone is about to invade us, we just need to back off. Besides, with our forces spread out all over the place, it makes us more vulnerable to an attack. Anyway, I like this song, and Rammstein is badass.

I completely agreee with shadowfox
I'm an American
And I really think we should mind our own business.
You should'nt take this song so personally
It's not specifically toward every single person who lives within America.
Ich liebe Rammstein

I'm American, and as an American can i just please tell people that McDonalds is a company, not "American Culture". Sure fast food is our fault *sorry everybody* but trust me our lives do not revolve around McDonalds and Coca Cola.

America sucks for two reasons: the government, not just Bush but all the assholes running us, and the media. other than those two things i think America is a pretty cool place. In general we are a really accepting people because we are made up of people from EVERY country around the world, including germany :]

oh yeah, i like the song :D

I agree, Germans have no right to call us war mongers, since they started the GREATEST war this earth has ever seen, murdering millions of innocent of jews. they have no right to speak, our Iraq, Vietnam war, is nothing compared to the damage the Germans has caused this world

i dont know if i had a bad translation of the song but it seemed that they were pro american but since every one thinks is anto american i just want to put this out there that the cool thing about america as opposed to other powers in the past is that anyone can join us here in america and be just like us and so thats why some people might be jelious about it now if you are one of those people im not saying that thats what your thinking ist just what it seems like to me because really we arnt forcing anything on you because for american stuff to be used in other countries the majority has to like it or else it wouldnt be there...and americans living here saying we are bad should think that they are lucky to live in a place like this

Ok, I think i will join the big debate about how rubbish America is x)
Anyway, people shouldn't be so harsh on them; just cause their ancestors (if you can call them that rather than grandfathers, this county isn't exactly very old) were all Irish/British criminals...
You stole all your culture from the Brits and Irish. You got a boot up your backsides as a headstart from the Brits and Irish.
No wonder your country is bumming the Brits and Irish eh?! Lol.
As for the righteous Germans who say that they have never done anything wrong ever, I have one word for you; Hitler.
And before you lousy yanks (joke :D) start giggling and slurping your colas (also joke xD) I have a word just for you too; Iraq *cough*OIL*cough*.
Just because none of your leaders have gone completely mad and started a bizarre capitalist form of the purges, you laugh in everyone's faces. By the way, did you know that there are roughly 8 million morbidly obese people in America?
That is almost as many people as there were Russian soldiers killed by Germany in the 1st World War.
Nobodies perfect, loves; get over it!

I personally like the song ^^
And I'm not telling you where i live, so you can't take the piss out of my country muahahahahah! xD

I have to say, I loved and LOLed the first time I heard this music (and it's translation ;D). I'm from Brazil and I have to admit: it's the absolute true!!! I don't hate Americans at all, only the ones that can't open their eyes and mind to other countries, cultures and civilization.

Or maybe it is about how awful most of America's music is.

"Dance with me I'm leading" ''No I can't''. I won't dance to most of today's music, either. Nor can I really.

Or whatever. I have no clue what they are saying as I cannot speak a lick of German and am going off the English versions of the song.

I am also kidding/not kidding about the music part. America's music and its pop culture and whatnot really irk me sometimes but I am not entirely sure what this song is about.

this is a song about globalization and consumerism, America is the worlds biggest corporate giant & seems to dictate the path of global media, in effect "we're all living in amerika" cause amerika(& its media) has such a large influence on every country

Despite what everyone thinks, this seems not to be an anti-american song to me, not at all.

"America" is obviously the name of all the bad things in the world because of heartless capitalism, and imperialism, and the exploitation of the poor nations and how they get a foreign culture pressed on. Everyone knows it and everyone blames america for it.

But here's the pointe of the song: "We're ALL living in america." And that's not because americans invaded us or we were forced to adopt their culture, but because we're all embracing it. And it's not just american imperialism and exploitation, but all industrial nations take part in it.
And I think that's the real meaning of the song: Everyone is pointing at the americans and calls them evil (which was really en vouge at the time the song ccame out) but in fact we're just screaming so we can silence our own consciousness.

I'm an American, and proud to be one, too. No, I have nothing against anybody else, nor do I think I'm better than any one else, either. I like this song. I like Rammstein. I agree with shadowfox, but I must say, that if Rammstein hates America, then why are they playing Rock music. remember, rock was started in the U.S.A. that's like saying "hey, we hate you, but buy or music!" that's stupid.

I think the song was a bit tasteless. Germany sure didn't mind America playing the "parent role" when it came to the Berlin airlift, or even rebuilding Germany after the war.

As for the American brands referenced in the song -- McDonalds, Disney, Coca-Cola, Wonder Bra, etc. -- none of these brands would be established in other countries if there wasn't a demand for the products they offer. Mercedes-Benz is a German company, and yet it is one of the most sought after names on American roads... a status symbol. Should Americans chose not to embrace the brand, simply because it is from another country? No! That would be absurd. So it is equally ridiculous to say that American brands can't be appreciated by other countries.

And besides... I know at least one Rammstein member holds a residence in America.

This song may be anti-american and you may be anti-american but don't hate me because I live here. I was born and raised here and I love not being scared to go out and fear dying in a suicide attack. I hate the government as much as you do and believe me, I did not vote for the monkey we call president. You can hate our country as much as you like, but leave me out of it. BTW, love the song :)

I totally agree with Neithan! It's NOT an anti-America song (but I must admit it's fun to see ppl react as if it were), because we are ALL living in America. We're all embracing capitalism and pointing our finger to America, while in fact other countries are just doing the same.

It's not Rammstein to bring you a superficial anti-america song like many other bands did, it's more Rammstein to point at our own hypocrisy

I agree that the song is sort of just stating the facts and in an eye rolling kind of manner.
The song adresses how every country around the world is becoming more American and how disheartening it can be to see another McDonalds go up in a once untouched country. Countries around the world are losing their distinct identities and becoming American. What a boring world it will be in 100 years.

The American government says to the rest of the world, 'If you don't love me you'll get hurt'. We are powerful and other countries know it, but they don't respect us, they fear us. Even the American people know that if you protest something nowdays you can be considered a terrorist. So I think this song applies to the American people as well. The average American is severely distracted and doesn't want to be bothered with things that really matter. We think that America couldn't be any better and so we stop trying to improve our country. We live in a fantasy world. We enjoy the superficial patriotism that makes you feel better and look good to your friends (via voting). But we no longer argue our countries actions and if you do then it's "unpatriotic" and going by what Lil' Bush says, it also makes you a supporter of terrorism. Thus, we see freedoms pulled out from under us and become victims of the USA like the rest of world. We worry so much about what the rest of the world is doing that we forget about our own country.

Wow! I am sensing a lot of bitterness here. Let me just say first of all that this is NOT an anti-American song. Rather, it is against what we are turning into. I am a proud American serviceman and an amateur historian. I would like to say a few things here and please remember that it is just my view. First, the Germans did NOT start WWII. There were a lot of factors leading up to it. Some of them we don't like to admit, but the fact is that many nations had a part in creating the climate that led to the Nazi party's rise and aggression. The Nazis were indeed German, but the Germans were not all Nazis. This is very important to remember. We cannot simply blame all the evil that occurred in WWII on the Germans. To do so would be as incorrect as it would be irresponsible. Every nation had it's share of atrocities in the war. And my fellow Americans, remember that we too have a very dark chapter in our past. Just ask the Cherokee or any of the other hundreds of tribes that were victims of one of histories worst genocides. Second, we as Americans need to stop taking offense every time someone else disagrees with us. Instead, stop and listen. We may just learn something. We have forgotten what America is really about. America is as much an idea as it is a nation. It is the idea that all men are created equal. The idea that we all are entitled to our own beliefs, not just Americans, but everyone. We are forgetting what America means and we cannot afford that. This song is telling us what we are turning into. Instead of accepting others for who they are and what they believe, we now think that they need to be just like us. This is not right. It destroys other cultures and is an anti-American belief. I am not saying that we can't stand up for the oppressed, just that we should not force our beliefs on others. It is all of humanities responsibility to fight for the oppressed and those who cannot fight for themselves, but that is where our responsibility ends. What they do after is there decision not ours. America used to be similar to switzerland in that we were neutral in world affairs. We would step in if there was a true atrocity being committed but that was it. Needless to say our policy has changed since those days. I love America, but I am scared of what we are slowly turning into. Please, do not forget what America really is. It is tolerance, compassion, free will, and above all it does not judge others. I have done quite a bit of traveling and what I have come to realize is that culture is one of the worlds greatest treasures. As Americans we don't really see other cultures. Most Americans never leave the country and if they do it is very limited. When you do visit another nation, try to blend in and absorb the local culture. At least make an effort to speak the local language. To visit another nation and just expect them to speak english is an insult. Imagine someone coming to your town who doesn't even make an effort to speak english. You would be insulted. We have all heard someone say "your in America now, learn english!". Well it works both ways. I see a lot of American tourists who act as if America rules the world and all other nations should respect that. That is so far from actuality. We all work together and mutual respect is essential to the worlds well-being. That is what Rammstein is getting at. I may be wrong and I am not asking you to accept what I say as truth, just that you think about it. Oh, and please pick up a copy of the constitution and the declaration of independence and read it. That is America and we cannot afford to forget it.

i am from america(though german) i think this song is about how america is taking everything over around the country. how if you dont do what we say we will force you. it is pathetic that we do this, but its even more pathetic that other countries take our bullshit and do what we say. in this song rammstein might say how they dont like america but there alot of americans that like them which could be risky. this is pretty much saying how america is dominant and we can do what ever we want. seeing we are the richest country and smartest country in the world it might sometimes be good for other countries to let us show you what to do and then you make your decision. sorry about my english

This is just singing about how he feels Americas culture is bleeding over and erasing over the rest of the world's respective cultures, and how he is not happy about living in a global nation. I dont think necessarily he hates america just mournes for the dying cultures of the world.
