Lyrics for Amerika as interpreted by Shoot_Me

Amerika Lyrics
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

Wenn getanzt wird will ich führen
auch wenn ihr euch alleine dreht
Lasst euch ein wenig kontrollieren
Ich zeige euch wie es richtig geht
Wir bilden einen lieben Reigen
Die Freiheit spielt auf allen Geigen
Musik kommt aus dem Weißen Haus
und vor Paris steht Micky Maus

We're all living in Amerika
Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

Ich kenne Schritte die sehr nützen
und werde euch vor Fehltritt schützen
Und wer nicht tanzen will am Schluss
weiß noch nicht dass er tanzen muss
Wir bilden einen lieben Reigen
Ich werde euch die Richtung zeigen
Nach Afrika kommt Santa Claus
und vor Paris steht Micky Maus

We're all living in Amerika
Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

We're all living in Amerika
Coca-Cola, Wonderbra
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

This is not a love song
This is not a love song
I don't sing my mother tongue
No, this is not a love song

We're all living in Amerika
Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

We're all living in Amerika
Coca-Cola, sometimes war
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

This song is cool, but it is really just a whine-out. Rammstein sells to American's, and they therefore feed the machine. Their money comes from the very culture they ridicule. They, and ever other anti-American complainer, either directly or indirectly, fuels that which it dislikes/hates.

As for warmongering: not one of you can claim that you would have the life you have (access to computer networks, sufficient food, literacy) in the absence of war. Some of these wars were either funded, fomented, or finished by America. Some of them were supported by your own governments, which in turn helped lead to the present situation.

War is in your veins like a drug, even as you protest it: you like it and you don't even know it. If you hate America, you should look in the mirror. You will find Uncle Sam staring back at you, pointing his finger.

America in 2005 is the direct result of the hubris of your forefathers -- the very same gereatrics who hate American dominance. If you desire some pointless reprisal, turn against them.

Meanwhile, I'll be over here counting my coins with the other capitalist pigs -- like Rammstein.

Over board with the 'they did it and we are the victims' shit. All these popular, ideology and emotion-inflicted-opinions are proven wrong long ago by anthropolgists, sociologists and historians. Just read some scientific publications and know there´s so much more to say about the developments in the world than ´don´t blame it on the sunshine, blame it on the US´. So much more it´s fucking dazzling. It´s the comfort of the ignorant nowadays to whine about the evils of the US: it's

- easy (listen to some whining musicians, grouchy European politicians or popular non-peer history books and copy there opinion)

- exiting (ooow - America is the new third Reich with all their war... oooow) and

- aggressive/fake-nationalistic (us refined, intellectual and reasonable Europeans vs. the dumb, cowboyesque, hypocrite, lying Americans).

Jump on the bandwagon or grow up and whipe the make up off of your face.

The melody is very basic musicly speaking, The vocals are deep and bassy not unfamilar to Rammstein. The message is clear, America rules the world. I think its funny that rammstein has always had a big american fan base I remember listing to their shit when I was in middle school Du Hast hit it huge in the states. I dunno any other foreign speakin groups that have done that good in this country. Rammstein should be more appreciative of our country, god knows we gave them some serious paper. As far as all you krauts, how the mighty have fallen, or you have become a bunch of pussies. American culture has spread because it has alot to offer, we are less then 300 years old, how many of your cultures have devolped that quickly? America is a great country it doesnt matter what any of you do or think, does your petty bitching change anything? It takes how many countries in Europe to rally together to make a unified currency to rival the amercian dollar? I dont care when germans or franks for born, europe has been the center of war for thousands of years. When germany wanted to conqueor its neighboors (twice I might add) the US was there to restore the balance. After we won wwII who was their to keep russia from moving in? I am proud to be an American, damn proud. I wear the uniform of a military service, and serve my country with honor and pride. It sadness me to see my countrymen agreeing with you euro trash. However, we have a first amendment, and I would DIE to see that they can say whatever they want. Despite the fact that many Europeans have already forgot American sacrifice on the beaches of normandy and the forests of Bastonge, I would glady give my life to ensure your freedom.

I hope every one thinks about this.

Rammstein however is still decent, even though they need a faster guitarist.

I don't think this song is straightforward America-bashing. It's more a parody of those (both American and non-American) who blithely proclaim the American way in culture and politics as the natural way of things, and a warning not to be so uncritical. It's not necessarily saying 'down with the Great Satan', just that America isn't all it's cracked up to be, hence the fake moon landing in the video. The 'we' in the chorus are not Americans, but everyone in the world - the chorus is ironic of course, as is the whole song in a way.

I'm was borne in the UK and moved to America in the 90's. This ranting back and forth is just sad. To be honest, I thought poorly of the States as many others do. Hell, I joined the service just so I can see some combat. That's what America was all about (or so I heard).

I'm taking the neutral route here, so don't go throwing punches at me because I "offend" you. This isn't about throwing punches, it's about giving another insight.

Being a citizen now, I learned that America isn't a bad place. Some people can be, however. But apart from that, it's decent. It's like everywhere else in the world. It's not the place that anti-americans think it to be. That's ridiculous. I joined the service so I can see my combat and I did. Do the people want to fight in the war? Does this make America war-hungry?

If people you already have a problem with blow up several buildings with your own aeros, things are going to go down. A lot of people died that day. People are going to be mad of course. That's what happened in WWII. Pearl Harbor was bombed and people were angry. This time the same thing basically happened, except this time those people were civilians. They weren't even military personel.

Some people wanted to go to war. Many (MANY!!) did not! We were supposed to be chasing terrorists... not an entire nation that may or may not have been related to it. Even in that attack, EVERYONE pointed fingers, not just the States.

To clarify a lot of cultural hostility, America isn't forcing anything on anybody. The government does. The people who decide to go to war are not the people. It's Congress. The President. We all know that Bush isn't the brightest person in the world. But I didn't hear any civilian making me go to war. That's not how America is. America doesn't make anyone do anything. Most of the time, we aren't even told what's going on.

I was told I was going to Iraq...

Not by civilians...
Not by other countries...

I was forced to because that's military policy. You listen to your commanding officer. If you don't, you're in for it. Did I want to see combat. Sure! But did I want to go to war with Iraq? Hell no! Even a large chunk of the United States didn't want to go to war with Iraq! So don't go saying that the United States is a warmongering nation. The leaders of it are warmongering.

As for enforcing American beliefs on everyone, that's true and not true. The people don't force anything on anyone. Business leaders of Free Enterprise do. Don't pointe at America for your problems. Most of what happens, the people have no real say in. If they do, it's hardly ever recognized.

Every government holds things back from their citizens. America just holds back a little more... but that doesn't make the people bad.

This really has nothing to do with the bloody song. All I'm hearing on here is how everyone is complaining about one another. It's bloody ridiculous. We're all in this together, for better or for worse. One day people will realize that and not be so quick to judge. Hell I know I was, but it's not like that, really. Everyone should just learn to respect one another because no one knows when someone is going to need an extra hand somewhere! America has no say in it's policy of world-policing. A majority of the American populace doesn't even think it should be happening. However the legislative and executive powers believe it to be the most profitable and succesful route. However it gives all americans and even immigrants who become american citizens (like myself) a bad reputation for nothing...

I'd like to know the percentage of Americans who aren't opposed to this corrupt government...why bother criticizing the song? You're probably part of the majority.

The percentage of Americans not opposed to this corrupt government, if the polls are reputable, is now standing at approximately 25%.

Lowest approval rating for any president ever in times of war.

American government these days is composed of a bunch of warmongerers, to the extent that I sometimes wonder if I ought to be ashamed to be American.

And then I remember that the world's biggest juggling festival is always held in America (thereby making it "international"), and that probably the best thing about America these days.

Unless you're rich. Then you get tax cuts so that Republicans have an excuse to deny providing services to the poor.

I think the song is not so much political but more general, as the band members have expressed their views on how the US is cultureless and immature compared to the rest of the world.

I think that America is the big country getting into others' affaires, but many countries have done so. Our culture has spread around the world, but similar things have happened before. For centuries, nobles (in Europe, anyway) would speak Latin instead of their native language, now people learn English. The movies and entertainment are made by or at least aimed at Americans, so the major culture in the world is American, for now. When another power rises then the world will complain about them. By the way, many of you do not need to apologize for your English, du kannst Englisch besser als ich kann Deutsch.

it's not really anti-american. it doesn't say americans are shit 'n' stuff. it's about america trying to control the world, wanting to influence other cultures and so on. it's also very ironic (coca cola, wonderbra, mickey mouse at paris, santa claus in africa = american culture all over the world)

the "and who doesn't dance, doesn't know that he has to" >>> living in a bubble, as mentioned before

Yeah, maybe this site is concerned with talking about the songs...but when a song has thematic material or content--like the political qualities of this song--it's a part of the discussion. And if it reveals how the USA and foreigners feel about each other, very well.

I'm an American, and I know many around the world are resentful of the US--not only because of our government or the unjust and immoral wars we have launched, but also due to this cultural infringement occurring in other countries. And I resent it, too. I don't want anyone in another country having to suffer any detriment to their own heritage and culture. The unique qualities of each nation should be cherished, and it makes the world a better and more interesting place. If I was visiting Germany and I saw a bunch of posters for Coca-Cola and Pizza Hut and whatever other American icons, I would be appalled.

I really am sorry, and I wish I could do something about it, but as a sole individual I am virtually powerless. All I can say is that if you aren't happy with something, revolt against it.

Im from America...I dont really believe its anti america...Rammstein has alot of fans in America, Im sure there shit would flop if America boycotting there shit..but its not about that. I do find if it was to be about America funny..since there from Germany and all. Irony at its best if that was the case. I like Rammstein...

Honestly everyone shut up. People whinging and having cry. "Oh im an american gun waver oooh rammstein are whiney little bitches! How dare they insult our beautiful, fabulous country! Although its okay for us to do the same to other countries!" ive been laughing at the stupidity of this 5 page aguement. listen: AMERICA ISN'T THE ONLY COUNTRY ON THIS PLANET. Other bands who arent from america have made songs like this. For example, 'I'm so bored with the USA'. OH NO. stop acting like a bunch of snoots. americans make jokes about australians all the time. who cares. as soon as another country produces something big, theres a huge uproar about it. and i wont point fingers. thank you to those americans who are smart enough to agree. I also believe its not the people, its the government. our government also sucks. our prime minister is an ass-kisser towards george bush. it doesnt matter where a band comes from. what matters is the music they make. holy crap, even if i do say so my self i should be in the UN.

i think it is a mix of both it pokes fun at how america feels like it needs to involve itself in everything but at the same time it poke fun at anti americans who hate amerca for being a capitalist consumer based country when all over the word other countries do the exact same thing. america isent the only country littered with Macdonalds and more importantly they dont shove big macs down your throat

Blink182sux have you even read Frankenstein!? That was one of the worst analogies I've seen. God! Frankenstein wanted the monster dead because it was a hideous creation but the monster only wanted acceptance from humanity. Than Frankenstein did run from the monster but later he went after the monster to avenge the murder of his family members. Frankenstein was killed later and the monster in his grief over his creators death runs off to isolation where he will die. Don't use a Frankenstein analogy if it isn't good.

Anyhow I love the song.
