Lyrics for Amerika as interpreted by Shoot_Me

Amerika Lyrics
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

Wenn getanzt wird will ich führen
auch wenn ihr euch alleine dreht
Lasst euch ein wenig kontrollieren
Ich zeige euch wie es richtig geht
Wir bilden einen lieben Reigen
Die Freiheit spielt auf allen Geigen
Musik kommt aus dem Weißen Haus
und vor Paris steht Micky Maus

We're all living in Amerika
Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

Ich kenne Schritte die sehr nützen
und werde euch vor Fehltritt schützen
Und wer nicht tanzen will am Schluss
weiß noch nicht dass er tanzen muss
Wir bilden einen lieben Reigen
Ich werde euch die Richtung zeigen
Nach Afrika kommt Santa Claus
und vor Paris steht Micky Maus

We're all living in Amerika
Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

We're all living in Amerika
Coca-Cola, Wonderbra
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

This is not a love song
This is not a love song
I don't sing my mother tongue
No, this is not a love song

We're all living in Amerika
Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

We're all living in Amerika
Coca-Cola, sometimes war
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

I really like this song. Just cause I live in Canada about 1/2 an hour from the border and so we see all these American tourists all the time and we just like to mock them all the time. I like living in Canada cause most people don't have a problem with us just cause we aren't in everyone's faces with our products and when we go down there it is like what is all this crap in their stores, seriously Americans will buy anything if it has a pricetag on it.lol Maybe why they are in a fallen economy right now. And all of them seem to try to take the "bad boy" image, but once you see past that they all look gay on their crappy Harley Davidson motorcycles with their leathers, we always ask them, "Where's the rodeo?" You get the best reactions from them. And with the nuclear weapons who has the most and can't let anyone else have any and if they try to get some they invade and half the time it is some excuse to get an advantage on some resources just pay the bills like everyone else without killing someone else to do it. And jsut so the others out there know my area is from immigrants from Germany, U.K.(Scotland, England) and France for the most part but being from Canada we always have the best wild card for heated arguments on "how great the U.S. is" and that is who burnt down the White House. It may have been in 1812 but it was still done and could be done again so don't get too comfy in your bubble cause sooner or later bubbles burst. ;)

Arrogant Worms are another band that are fun to listen too cause they mock the U.S. but be careful they are Canadian.lol

And of course: "Coca Cola, sometimes war"
In my opinion Rammstein trys to say that the Americans do whatevery they want to.
Good mood "hey lets drink some coke" and when they have bad mood: "hey lets attack some country" some shit like that.

Ok, I'm done now.

Comments please :)

And the chorus "We're all living in America" actually means that America has its culture everywhere but also because they're the strongest country and have influenced every nation with its bullshit policy.
Thats what i guess.

All right people, listen up.
Doubtless, this song IS anti-American no matter what you think.
If you all would have been payin' attention when you attended school, then you would know how to analyse a text.
Anyways, as far as I like to oppose your opinions, it is both coming together: the American way of life and its consequences effecting the entire world AND them not realizing that they are not the world's cop.
I am from Germany but I have lived in the US for 11 months. Of course there are a bunch of pretty cool fellas and nice individuals, but as 'redrum' already sad, they are stuck in a magic bubble they have trapped in by government and its media.
Rammstein is not complaining about America spreading and sharing their culture with other countries. Here in Germany, e.g. there are plenty of people who love the American culture, who just admire the American fast food. It's every individuals' job to keep an eye of WHAT they do!
Rammstein is more making fun of the American war-mongers. Americans think they live in a country which is a country everyone is dreaming of, a country of freedom. Actually, there are only some detached Americans out here who realize that it is not. Americans government with its rules and regulations is a bunch of shit. They don't care of others, they don't care of global warming. America is one of the biggest heat-trapping ability in the world!
All they care about is their lifestyle. It is all about worth, their consumer acceptance and their worldwide acceptance. And the last point was the biggest dispraise and shame in the US history. The government is filled up with a flush of morons, and all THEY think about is wealth. And they can only reach it with war (in Iraq e.g., and EVERYONE in this fucking world knows, it's all about oil!).
I'm not wondering, why this backfired so striking!

Well this is a point we just have came up to. Germany did a lot of mistakes in the past, too.
But they are doing better now, they are one of the most peaceful countries on earth, fighting for freedom, giving money to poor countries and nations, fighting for them and sending troops to Afghanistan to help their police out to get a good education on how to fight terrorism.
THAT'S what America has to do.
Fuck off that oil. Try to drive less with your cars and try not to spend so much on fucking war!
All Europe (and Rammstein in the song) is complaining about is that America has so many people who love to fight for they seem to be the greatest in the world which they are not. Try to come along with other countries, show some respect and do your best to get a good future.
Germany knows well what it means to have a war-monger at its top.

Yea, I think this is it. :)
To all of you Americans out there: Don't get mad at me for saying this, but try to get this in your head and do your best of becoming more and more of a better place in the world.
It's all about you citizens to reach the acceptance and honor you think you all deserve.
Germany has also reached this. But not with war, but with peace.

Thus, peace out, fellas!

This song talks about americas products being all over the place, here we see NONE of our own products, it's all made in china, and literally says, made in china, it gets rather annoying.

I am American and i love this song. I think it's targeted more at the spread of America's anti-cultural appeal to things, and yeah our government is going south. I also can't stand the Americans that are too blind to see that we are NOT the best at everything. Its time alot of wake up and realize that.

This song's all about how stupid America is. We have stupid traditions, media, and our food is killing us but we don't care because it tastes good. It mocks us, but is has very valid points. We don't need Barbie and Mickey Mouse and all that crap. And we obsess over stupid stuff like Coca-Cola. The video for this song is perfect. Check it out.

I have to start by saying I like Rammstein and I like the song. If they want to write music that is anti-American or anti-American culture in general more power to them. This is one of the basic freedoms I believe in. Funny how if they put Swastika's in one of their videos, in protest or no, they'd all go to jail. Such is Germany but Germany is not the US.

I would like to comment on some of the comments already made in this forum. If you don't like Mickey Mouse, McDonalds, Pizza, Classic American Motorcycles and the retro 50's look and we can't forget the wonderbra. Don't watch it, buy it, mimic it, ride it or wear it. Why whine that these things are so successful they are coveted around the world? Does your country force you to eat pizza and wear the wonderbra? I didn't think so.

As to the US being warmongers. It is not the USA that is the worlds policeman per say, it's the UN. That is one of their responsibilities and they were formed to counter situations like the ugly ones that occurred in Europe in the early part of the 20th century. The league of nations lacked the teeth to do anything about that situation and was inept. Yes the Americans provide much of the muscle for the UN but I promise you if the rest of the world did their part the US would happily step into the background.

If your about to counter that the UN are the pawns of the US government please have your sources prepared to defend that position, and no catchy lyrics from some song don't qualify.

I like Rammstein and their music, it's opinionated morons who like to sling mud without bothering to look into the facts that I have little tolarance for. In my opinion Rammstein qualifies as opinionated artists, they deserve special consideration. Once again Great Song.

This is just singing about how he feels Americas culture is bleeding over and erasing over the rest of the world's respective cultures, and how he is not happy about living in a global nation. I dont think necessarily he hates america just mournes for the dying cultures of the world.

i am from america(though german) i think this song is about how america is taking everything over around the country. how if you dont do what we say we will force you. it is pathetic that we do this, but its even more pathetic that other countries take our bullshit and do what we say. in this song rammstein might say how they dont like america but there alot of americans that like them which could be risky. this is pretty much saying how america is dominant and we can do what ever we want. seeing we are the richest country and smartest country in the world it might sometimes be good for other countries to let us show you what to do and then you make your decision. sorry about my english

Wow! I am sensing a lot of bitterness here. Let me just say first of all that this is NOT an anti-American song. Rather, it is against what we are turning into. I am a proud American serviceman and an amateur historian. I would like to say a few things here and please remember that it is just my view. First, the Germans did NOT start WWII. There were a lot of factors leading up to it. Some of them we don't like to admit, but the fact is that many nations had a part in creating the climate that led to the Nazi party's rise and aggression. The Nazis were indeed German, but the Germans were not all Nazis. This is very important to remember. We cannot simply blame all the evil that occurred in WWII on the Germans. To do so would be as incorrect as it would be irresponsible. Every nation had it's share of atrocities in the war. And my fellow Americans, remember that we too have a very dark chapter in our past. Just ask the Cherokee or any of the other hundreds of tribes that were victims of one of histories worst genocides. Second, we as Americans need to stop taking offense every time someone else disagrees with us. Instead, stop and listen. We may just learn something. We have forgotten what America is really about. America is as much an idea as it is a nation. It is the idea that all men are created equal. The idea that we all are entitled to our own beliefs, not just Americans, but everyone. We are forgetting what America means and we cannot afford that. This song is telling us what we are turning into. Instead of accepting others for who they are and what they believe, we now think that they need to be just like us. This is not right. It destroys other cultures and is an anti-American belief. I am not saying that we can't stand up for the oppressed, just that we should not force our beliefs on others. It is all of humanities responsibility to fight for the oppressed and those who cannot fight for themselves, but that is where our responsibility ends. What they do after is there decision not ours. America used to be similar to switzerland in that we were neutral in world affairs. We would step in if there was a true atrocity being committed but that was it. Needless to say our policy has changed since those days. I love America, but I am scared of what we are slowly turning into. Please, do not forget what America really is. It is tolerance, compassion, free will, and above all it does not judge others. I have done quite a bit of traveling and what I have come to realize is that culture is one of the worlds greatest treasures. As Americans we don't really see other cultures. Most Americans never leave the country and if they do it is very limited. When you do visit another nation, try to blend in and absorb the local culture. At least make an effort to speak the local language. To visit another nation and just expect them to speak english is an insult. Imagine someone coming to your town who doesn't even make an effort to speak english. You would be insulted. We have all heard someone say "your in America now, learn english!". Well it works both ways. I see a lot of American tourists who act as if America rules the world and all other nations should respect that. That is so far from actuality. We all work together and mutual respect is essential to the worlds well-being. That is what Rammstein is getting at. I may be wrong and I am not asking you to accept what I say as truth, just that you think about it. Oh, and please pick up a copy of the constitution and the declaration of independence and read it. That is America and we cannot afford to forget it.

I agree that the song is sort of just stating the facts and in an eye rolling kind of manner.
The song adresses how every country around the world is becoming more American and how disheartening it can be to see another McDonalds go up in a once untouched country. Countries around the world are losing their distinct identities and becoming American. What a boring world it will be in 100 years.

The American government says to the rest of the world, 'If you don't love me you'll get hurt'. We are powerful and other countries know it, but they don't respect us, they fear us. Even the American people know that if you protest something nowdays you can be considered a terrorist. So I think this song applies to the American people as well. The average American is severely distracted and doesn't want to be bothered with things that really matter. We think that America couldn't be any better and so we stop trying to improve our country. We live in a fantasy world. We enjoy the superficial patriotism that makes you feel better and look good to your friends (via voting). But we no longer argue our countries actions and if you do then it's "unpatriotic" and going by what Lil' Bush says, it also makes you a supporter of terrorism. Thus, we see freedoms pulled out from under us and become victims of the USA like the rest of world. We worry so much about what the rest of the world is doing that we forget about our own country.

I totally agree with Neithan! It's NOT an anti-America song (but I must admit it's fun to see ppl react as if it were), because we are ALL living in America. We're all embracing capitalism and pointing our finger to America, while in fact other countries are just doing the same.

It's not Rammstein to bring you a superficial anti-america song like many other bands did, it's more Rammstein to point at our own hypocrisy

This song may be anti-american and you may be anti-american but don't hate me because I live here. I was born and raised here and I love not being scared to go out and fear dying in a suicide attack. I hate the government as much as you do and believe me, I did not vote for the monkey we call president. You can hate our country as much as you like, but leave me out of it. BTW, love the song :)

I think the song was a bit tasteless. Germany sure didn't mind America playing the "parent role" when it came to the Berlin airlift, or even rebuilding Germany after the war.

As for the American brands referenced in the song -- McDonalds, Disney, Coca-Cola, Wonder Bra, etc. -- none of these brands would be established in other countries if there wasn't a demand for the products they offer. Mercedes-Benz is a German company, and yet it is one of the most sought after names on American roads... a status symbol. Should Americans chose not to embrace the brand, simply because it is from another country? No! That would be absurd. So it is equally ridiculous to say that American brands can't be appreciated by other countries.

And besides... I know at least one Rammstein member holds a residence in America.

I'm an American, and proud to be one, too. No, I have nothing against anybody else, nor do I think I'm better than any one else, either. I like this song. I like Rammstein. I agree with shadowfox, but I must say, that if Rammstein hates America, then why are they playing Rock music. remember, rock was started in the U.S.A. that's like saying "hey, we hate you, but buy or music!" that's stupid.

Despite what everyone thinks, this seems not to be an anti-american song to me, not at all.

"America" is obviously the name of all the bad things in the world because of heartless capitalism, and imperialism, and the exploitation of the poor nations and how they get a foreign culture pressed on. Everyone knows it and everyone blames america for it.

But here's the pointe of the song: "We're ALL living in america." And that's not because americans invaded us or we were forced to adopt their culture, but because we're all embracing it. And it's not just american imperialism and exploitation, but all industrial nations take part in it.
And I think that's the real meaning of the song: Everyone is pointing at the americans and calls them evil (which was really en vouge at the time the song ccame out) but in fact we're just screaming so we can silence our own consciousness.
