this song is about a case of cannibalism that recently occured in germany. somebody put an ad on the internet in which he was looking for somebody to eat and he found somebody. they met and the cannibal killed and ate he other one. the lawsuit took quite a long time since the victim actually was perfectly ok with the fact that he got killed and the judges were unsure whether to convict him because of murder or not. in the end i think he was convicted and got a life term. in an interview with rammstein i heard one of the guys say that he actually thought it was better to eat someone you know and who agrees to be eaten than to kill and eat an animal that has never been asked if it wanted to be killed.

I read about this song somewhere... Think it was Kerrang!... Based on the German internet cannibal Armin Miewed, who got life (I think) for Canabilising Bernd-Juergen Brandes. According to guitarist Richard Kruspe- Bernstein, its a love song :-S. Very demented and disturbing, What Rammstein do best...

Great song. And I didn't expect anything but disturbing from Rammstein, so I wasn't shocked.
Also, the word "disturbing" shouldn't be said like it's a bad thing.

Very catchy. "Denn! Du bist!.."

And very creepy. The last verse "Ein schrei wird zum himmel fahren..." is one of the most haunting things I've ever heard. C'mon, the guy is talking about cutting apart angels with his scream and their 'feathy flesh' falling from the sky. Awesomely twisted.

This song IS about Cannibalism.
Armin Meiwes was a 41 year old computer administrator that posted Ads
(like this one here http://groups.google.com/group/alt.sex.snuff.cannibalism/msg/021b86ada8ddf82b)

For a young boy between 18 and 30 with a normal build to be butchered and eaten (the first line of the song)

(Note that that line only appears in the single version of the song)

Armin Meiwes found someone who was willing
(I can't remember his first name, but I think it was Something Brandes), and the both met up and Armin proceeded to kill and eat the man in question.

Mein Teil means "My Part" which is a slang term for "My Penis". It is named my Mein Teil because Armin chopped off the mans "part" and they both ate it.

The song came about when one of the members brought in a newspaper with the headline about Armin and his cannibalism. The band just basically said
"SHIT GUYS, WE HAVE TO WRITE A SONG ABOUT THIS"
And THAT is how Mein Teil came about.

(P.S, the transvestite in the music video is meant to represent Armins mother, I belive. Don't ask me about the video, I can't get my head around it at all)

I have loved this song forever (still Zwitter is my fave though)... and I think I would have been better off not reading the eng. version. But sickingly enough, I love the song still.

Damn I always guessed it was 'this is my time'. Though 'this is my part/cock' is also pretty good. Not liking the whole cannibalism thing. Just saw the video - damn you Germans are scary :_(
