The scarlet boots, the kiss of death
Patient in the end of it
Blended angles, whispered love
Countdown 'til it's gone for long

Velvet voices, haunting slow
Darkended notes with bright decor
George and Velms are gone for weeks
Southern belles in London sing

I'm staring down the Epley Gate
Two more days before the place arrives
And you'll be standing here with your smile

I'm carving up the lobby seats
Pushing down the cafe drinks
Checking the arrival screens for your

A hundred feet above the landing
There's a girl riding down
She's floating toward me now
Her sleeves are all stretching out
The magenta's following behind
Wake up

Runners give a grinding halt
Last night left to spend apart
Your bags are packed by now for home
Stories of the tour unfold

Your booking agent's broken nose
Budding heads with creeping dolts
George and Velms are gone for weeks
Southern belles in London sing

Lyric Correction:I'm pretty sure it's "Pushing down the caffeine dreams" and not caffeine drinks. Caffeine Dreams is a famous coffee shop in Omaha.

General Comment:And also, it's "Staring down the Eppeley gate" Which is an airport here in Omaha, Eppeley airfield. Geeeeez.

General Comment:Wow. Let me set you ALL straight. I'm FROM Omaha, deeply immersed in Saddle Creek music.

He is singing about Orenda Fink, his wife, from Azure Ray, who are from the SOUTH. Heck, that's her and Maria Taylor even SINGING.

It's about how she's on tour and he misses her. Not that difficult.

General Comment:Azure Ray started in Athens, Georgia. So the line "Georgian femmes are gone for weeks" is obviously about the two girls being on tour!

General Comment:As so many have said before, I think this is about Todd waiting back in Omaha while Orinda is on tour with Azure Ray in England/Europe. The verse that starts, "A hundred feet above the landing...", is him waiting at the airport (Eppley Airfield) waiting for her plane and he has a dream: wanting her to be back sooner, but doesn't really care about the plane or the rest; thus, her flying ahead (though I totally get an image of her still in the upright position (as if in an invisible chair).

General Comment:to me this is a vampire song. the first chorus tells it all

"Scarlet boots, the kiss of death -vampire's bite
Patience and the end of it -end of being a human
    Blended angels, whispered love
Countdown until it's gone for long
    Velvet voices, haunting slow
    Darkened notes with bright decor
Georgian femmes are gone for weeks
    Southern belles in London sing"

"A hundred feet above the landing
    There's a girl gliding down
    She's floating toward me now"

also, there are some vampire myths that come from london. this isn't defintely what's about, just an interesting way to look at the song...a song about vampire love.

General Comment:Another one of my favorites by The Faint!

It sounds like he was waiting for a girl in the airport, trying to stay awake, but he fell asleep anyways and had a dream, the dream being "A hundred feet above the landing
    There's a girl gliding down
    She's floating toward me now
Her sleeves are all stretching out
And the jet is following behind

    Wake up"

    It's probably that simple...

General Comment:i think this song captures the frenetic, unstable home life of our generation well enough to sponsor imitation
