On a cold dark winter night
Hidden by the stormy light
A battle rages for the right
For what will become

In the valley of the damned
A warrior with sword in hand
Travels fast across the land
For freedom he rise

And the sign from the master on high
He screams a loud and across hear the cry
For the kingdom of fire and ice
And the power to be alive

Four strong ride on carry on through the war
Four strong carry on living for ever more

On the wings of death
By the hands of doom
By the darkest light
From the darkest moon

Crossing silent seas
Over mountains high
All will stand as one tonight

On the black wind forever
We ride on together
Destroying your evil with freedom my guide
When the master will call us
He stands high before us
Our hearts filled with splendour
Our swords will shine over the light

In the valley of the damned
Days breaks with golden strand
Over pastures green it glows
To where night returns

On the shadows faces appear
Warriors wearing full metal gear
Join together one and all
Before the glorious light

Rise up gather around come and hear what is said
Use your senses open your mind don't you ever forget

On the wings of life
By the hands of hope
By the brightest light
From the brightest sun
Crossing silent seas
Over mountains high
To the valley of the damned

On the black wind forever
We ride on together
Destroying your evil with freedom my guide
When the master will call us
He stands high before us
Our hearts filled with splendour
Our swords will shine over the light

On the black wind forever
We ride on together
Destroying your evil with freedom my guide
When the master will call us
He stands high before us
Our hearts filled with splendour
Our swords will shine over the light

General Comment:Well both progressive rock and power metal bands have been known to make concept albums. Maybe that's what the album Valley of the Damned is, and the concept being an epic about warrior battling evil hordes (from hell via. valley of the damned), in which case this song is only one chapter of that epic.

My Interpretation:Holy crap...really? I swear I lost IQ points reading some of you dense headed simple minded people's comments.
Thanks to the people with a bit of a brain like: Elzaar, Shuan Static, ArsonistMaster, and sableseriph

Obviously the song is reffering to the apocalypse...and some lyrics might point towards the Illuminati but most likely not. Heres my interpretation of each verse.

"On a cold dark winter night
    Hidden by the stormy light
A battle rages for the right
    For what will become"
-This verse clearly states the setting/mood of a battle and unclearly states what the battle will decide "for the right" ... "For what will become"

"In the valley of the damned
A warrior with sword in hand
    Travels fast across the land
    For freedom he rise"
-Now I believe "the valley of the damned" reffers to either the realm of man "earth" or the realm of demons "hell" this being said because damnation could be sin or the place for sinners. Moving on the warrior is an inhabitant of the valley of the damned fighting FOR the valley of damned... which he might call "freedom"

"And the sign from the master on high
He screams a loud and across hear the cry
For the kingdom of fire and ice
And the power to be alive"
-The master on high is no doubt almighty God. The next 3 lines could possibly reffer to God struggling in the battle, emitting a loud cry which all can hear.

"Four strong ride on carry on through the war
Four strong carry on living for ever more "
-This verse reffers to the Four Horseman of the apocalypse.

    "On the wings of death
    By the hands of doom
    By the darkest light
    From the darkest moon"
    "Crossing silent seas
    Over mountains high
All will stand as one tonight"
    "On the black wind forever
    We ride on together
Destroying your evil with freedom my guide
When the master will storm us
    He stands high before us
    Our hearts filled with splendour
Our swords will shine over the light"
-Now these verses left me in deep thought. The first verse(4lines) and some of the second verse, seemed to reffer to the "ride" the horseman rode, saying they dominated the earth. Moving on I questioned the identity of the 4. "Black wind" could simply contribute to mood, or it could tell which side the speaker is on. "We ride on together" made me consider the possibility the speaker is using the 4 to define himself, why he fights, and who he fights for. Which leaves the question "Which side does he fight for?". "When the master will storm us" "He stands high before us"...from the perspective of these lines, the speaker is not on the same side as the Master (God) which gives me reason to believe you can call God's side the light and the speaker's side the dark. "Our hearts filled with splendour" "Our swords will shine over the light"...these lines could be saying that the dark will prevail over the light"

"In the valley of the damned
    Days breaks with golden strand
    Over pastures green it glows
    To where night returns"
-This verse describing the valley of the damned ends saying "To where the night returns"...this saying the darkness dwells in the valley of the damned.

    "On the shadows faces appear
    Warriors wearing full metal gear
    Join together one and all
    Before the glorious light"
-Lines 1 and 2 of this verse state that the warriors are warriors of the shadows or of the dark. Lines 3 and 4 state that they are rising together to fight the light.

"Rise up gather around come and hear what is said
Use your senses open your mind don't you ever forget"
-Clear evidence of which side the speaker is on.

    "On the wings of life
    By the hands of hope
    By the brightest light
    From the brightest sun
    Crossing silent seas
    Over mountains high
To the valley of the damned"
-This verse could be reffering to the end of the battle...where the valley of the damned still remains.

"Destroying your evil with freedom my guide"
-This verse doesnt say destroying evil, it says "Destroying YOUR evil" meaning this statement is an accusation. Furthermore it says its guided by it's "freedom" which we defined earlier.

--This is just how i interpret it within reviewing the song just once. Feel free to critique it and throw stones ima baws so idgaf.

My Interpretation:I think it's about a band of warriors making what may be their final, greatest stand against an army of pure darkness.

General Comment:I listen to a lot of Dragonforce and I really never can find any kind of meaning behind the songs. I have always gotten the picture of the song telling the story of a quest of some sort. I play MMO's and Dragonforce is my personal soundtrack while I am online because of the themes I get from their music. But that is just me.

General Comment:it's about the Battle of Armageddon, guys. seriously. not that hard.

"the master will storm us" (that's God/ Christ), etc. and "on the wings of death" and "on the wings of life" stanzas are obviously about good and evil coming from every direction to the battle.

"our hearts filled with splendor, our swords will shine over the light" is pretty simple. everyone on God's side will win, because that's the way it's been from the beginning. it's all pretty simple.

General Comment:this is stupid....all their songs are like exactly the same. (amazing, albeit, but the same) how many of their songs have to start with "on a cold winter (morning, night )"? and they say "well ride on" or "well carry on" way too much...i guess its true....they gotta sing about something, and im glad they decided to sing beautiful words...even if they are cliche and monotonous.
