Lyrics for Give 'Em Hell Kid as interpreted by autumns_gone

Give 'Em Hell Kid Lyrics
Oh baby here comes the sound!
I took a train outta New Orleans and they shot me full of ephedrine.
This is how we like to do it in the murder scene.
Can we settle up the score?

If you were here,
I'd never have a fear.
So go on live your life.
But I miss you more than I did yesterday.
(You're beautiful.)

Well I'm a total wreck and almost every day.
Like the firing squad or the mess you made.
Well don't I look pretty walking down the street.
In the best damn dress I own?

If you were here,
I'd never have a fear.
So go on live your life.
But I miss you more than I did yesterday.
You’re so far away.
So c’mon show me how.
‘Cause I mean this more than words can ever say.

We are, made from the sharpest things you’d say.
We are young and we don't care.
Your dreams and your hopeless hair.
We never wanted it to be this way.
For all our lives.
Do you care at all?

If you were here,
I'd never have a fear.
So go on live your life.
But I miss you more than I did yesterday.
You’re so far away.
So c’mon show me how.
‘Cause I mean this more than words can ever say.

this song is from the point of view of a girl- hint "best damn dress""well thers no way i'm kissing that guy"

He got her pregnant and then left her. She couldn't cope without him "if you were her i'd never have a fear" so rather than become a single parent family she had an abortion. Ephedrine is a drug used in hospitals she took a train to the hospital so her parents wouldnt know and some people regard abortion as murder.

He messed her up and they never wanted to have a baby "we never wanted it to be this way for all our lives"

Fucking amazing song

I agree with 'DistortedSilence'. At the end of the song you here Gerard quote 'Won't you come with me' [From the girls point of view] && 'Well theres no way i'm kissing that guy' ... I get the feeling that the ending line means that if he can't be the father to her baby then she doesn't want anyone else to be so she goes ahead with the whole abortion thing. Basically i think the song is about how different things become ,between two people in a relationship, when you have to take on an added responsibilty [e.g- the baby] Anyway thats just my take on the song. But it definatley is an asset to the 'Three Cheers' album as it is so raw and edgy, although it is toned down with the pop-sounding instrumentals.

I love this song, but then I love every single mcr song I've heard by MCR. The teenage pregnancy thing does work, and somehow a band of all guys manages to say " And don't I look pretty walking down the street.
In the best damn dress I own?" without sounding totally weird. The song has so much emotion and is beautiful, though sad.

ok so there has been lots of confusion over which parts of the album are storyline and which is the bands personal experience. With this song especially there has been lots of problems linking it to the storyline the band came up with. We already know that Helena is about Gerrad missing his Gandmas funeral and realy doesn't fit in with the plot, proof of this happend recently at the vma's when Gerrad shouted at the end of helena "this ones for you grandma", not total proof but makes alot of sense especially with the video to support this theory. Give em hell kid I believe is about how the band truly feels about a contraversal topic, and has nothing to do with the storyline at all. Teenage pregnancy , moreover abortion, I believe this song is pro life. Epedrine is a drug used in abortions to kill the fetus, while numbing the body reducing pain to the patient. The murder scene is the abortion clinic(PRO LIFE) the chorus is the dead baby crying out to the mother from beyond the grave. don't i look pretty walking down the street in the best damn dress i own, no more baby she looks good again. I believ the end of the song is the old boyfriend and girlfriend fighting or saying things in their heads that they never told eachother. Maybee this solves the big contravorsy over how givemhellkid is on the album something that had to be said without comming out standing up for what they believe in and losing record sales over it. WE all know what happend to the dixie chics and the whole war in iraq. This is not intended to criticise the band at all but I thinbk it's a cheeky way to get kids thinking seriously about what they believe in and start asking serious questions instead of just rebeling against society and saying that abortion is ok and accepted without really knowing the facts. Just my 2 cents but In my mind it makes alot of sense. and if you don't believe that abortion is wrong, do your reasearch and find out the long term effects that aborted mothers go through, you will be disturbed and this song I beleve expressed the true physical and emotional pain of a girl going through this brutal act and regretting it at the end

the crying out from the grave chorus thing does not make sense, why "I miss you more than I did yesterday", then, and why, in the first part, "you're beautiful"? Does that sound like something a dead baby would want to say? It seems so much more likely that the song is from the point of view of the girlfriend and she is talking to the guy who left her. Also, it seems to me that the story is sympathetic to the girlfriend, and that would'nt be true if it was pro-life like that. Maybe it being sympathetic to her is just me, but that is how it seems to me. oh, and "If you were here, I'd never have a fear". That sounds like someone left on their own, not a dead person.

ok lets clear some things up
"If you were here,
I'd never have a fear."
Baby scared and all alone (in the spiritual dimension??
calling out to mommy, could be haunting her
"So go on live your life." Baby mad and expressing its anger out on the mother, the reason I think this is because the song is called give em hell kid
the kid being the baby

"But I miss you more than I did yesterday.
(You're beautiful.)" Mother interacting and talking to her ghost baby scared and frightened trying to reason with it realizing what she has done

"it seems to me that the story is sympathetic to the girlfriend, and that would'nt be true if it was pro-life like that." Of course it's sympathetic to the girlfriend , in no way am I saying that she is evil or somthing, she's just realizing the long term effects of her actions and fells bad about it I think anyone would have sympathy on her, unless she is proud of her abortion which in my life I have never seen anyone proud of aborting their child

Yeehee :D, this songs definately about abortion, the first paragraph proves it. The this is how we like to do it in the murder scene bit is hinting that abortion is murder. New orleans is one of the top places for abortion .. ect...

whoever says they suck when performing live better get some fucking hearing aid, cause i heard a live version of this and it sounded better than the original.

i don't know how the hell this could be about a baby crying out from the grave, it makes absolutely no sense!!!
i don't think it fits together there's gotta be a better explanation to these lyrics.

what do they say after this lyric?

We are young and we don't care.

and

Your dreams and your hopeless hair.

i thought i was always something like "we're out" or some thing.

Great song though, love My Chemical Romance.

1m_n0t_0kaY - I think they say "we're out", but i'm not sure...

What do you guys think gerard says before "We are, made from the sharpest things you’d say." Because i've always thought he said "my saviour, made from the sharpest things you'd say". Your explanation makes sense, but then it sounds like he's saying "my say we are...."

Ya, I dunno how this could about a baby speaking through the song, though the abortion theory makes sense.

When I first heard this song, I saw it differently though. I had just been getting through a rough breakup and when I heard that one sentence "You're beautiful!" I went back into mourning, coz I could just imagine my ex saying that. Anyway, I saw it as a girl-leaving-a-guy situation and he is really pissed and is all "Well just go on and live your life with that new guy," but he still misses her more than ever.

Anyway, that's just how I saw it at first. But yes, I agree with the abortion theory. MCR rocks!

yeah i agree with 'silenceandlies' because he had previously said that it was about getting knocked up, but on the 'life on the murder scene' disc, he ends the song with 'just because you're bigger than me, just because you're smarter than me, just because you drive a better car than me does not mean, no way, no know, i am sucking you off for any amount of money'

okay i definitely can see the abortion theory on this song. so i decided to go in depth and support this theory. Then Again the song is titled Give em' hell KID.

"oh baby here comes the sound, i tok a train outta new orleans and they shot me full of ephedrine.....etc."
-this is basically the prelogue for the story. the girl goes to a clinic and has an abortion. "this is how we like to do it on the murder scene" is very relevant because alot people are against abortion becuse it is seen as murder.
-if you were here i'd never have a fear, so go on live your life.....etc."
okay then the story prevails. i think this chorus is very relevant to the title because i think that the unborn baby's spirit is torturing the mother (and possibly both parents) therefore "givin' them hell." okay to make this very simple the baby's spirit is telling the mother that its misses her and that she doesn't have to worry about anything anymore ("go on live your life") because she got rid of her "burden"

"well im a total wreck and almost everyday like the firing squad or the mess you made......etc."
-okay the first line is telling the mother that because of the abortion she not only has wrecked the baby's future but has strung people involved on this messy ride. the second line is the spirit mocking her. "well don't i look pretty walking down the street in the best damn dress i own."

"we are made from the sharpest things, we are young and we don't care...etc."
-this is the part that makes me think the baby's spirit is talking to both the parents. "we are made from the sharpest things"
could translate to people think the parents are terrible because of what they did. "we are young and we don't care." this is also a refrence to what people (possibly family members and friends,) think of them. "your dreams and your hopeless hair."
this is all the things the mom would've had to sacrafice if she would've kept the baby.
"we never wanted it to be this way."
this is either the mom or both of the parents saying that they never meant to hurt anyone or cause a stir or a scene. "For all our lives." is saying that they will have to deal with the guilt and the speculation from people for the rest of their lives.
"do you care at all."
this line could have one of two meanings
A. The mother is asking the baby's spirit if it cares about her remorse or the pain she's had to deal with.
or
B. this is the baby's spirit saying to the parents do you care about everything that they put it through and everything it won't ever get to experience and see.

thats my take on it. it makes sense to me..

Wish I had something to add to the discussion about the meaning of this song, but I only learn from these interpretations.. I didn't have much of a clue myself before I started reading these.

I think the deal about the fans makes a whole lot of sense, but since Gerard has said it is about pregnancy I guess that has to be it.

Love the beat of the song and also the lyrics. Took me a while, actually, before I discovered how amazing the song is..

The way he screams "you're beautiful!" is just so incredible. Can make anybody's heart do a double-beat... XD
