When you bury someone your resting in PEACE in its like your in gods arms. But I guess (the devil) wants to take the bodies home with him to hell...i know it sounds stupid but thats what I think when I hear it..

But i think it has something to do with the 1,000 corpses..I DON'T KNOW its confusing me I think the only people that know the meaning to this song is MCR. But i love this song to death especially in the end when he says "I tried" it has so much meaning and so much feeling...

I think the song ends up the concept album with the guy getting the 1000th corpse, and he gets the girl back. He's happy to have her back, but hes become so wrapped up in killing and bringing the souls to hell he considers it "what he does for a living.' Hence the title, hes telling her how he brought them back together.

^^obviously after the 1000th soul was brought to hell, the girl was killed and hes happy becuase they are finally together again

whoa I just saw this on the net

BV: ‘Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge’ was a part concept album in which you incorporated yourselves as you went along. If you were told right now to finish he story, or write the song that would serve as ‘the end’ what would the ending be like?

GW: I just figured out the ending to the story yesterday. This is the total truth too. I was doing an interview and I didn’t say it during the interview but I actually figured out the end of the story. It’s weird because I never came up with an ending to this story. It’s really bleak though, but it would have to end this way if it was a movie, right? So the guy has to bring the devil the souls of a thousand evil men to be united with the woman he loves. I’m sure a lot of people saw this coming but I never realized it. So obviously he kills 999 evil men and then he realizes the last evil man he has to kill is himself. I thought of that and was like ‘man, why didn’t I think of that before?!’ But at the moment I don’t know what it’d be like as a song.

ooooh! that explains things. of course, that wasn't an interpretation of this song, he agrees that this song has an open-ending that could mean anything, that was just the conclusion he bnever gave. i got yet another revelation about the title of this song. what i do for a living=what i do to stay alive, to gain my life back, to gain my love back

Well, I absolutely adore this song, as said, it grows on you the more you listen to it.
But as for the meaning, as said it is a concept album, and it is about, The Story of a man, A woman and a thousand corpses of a thosand evil men,
So, if you think logically, it doesn't necessarily mean that the last one of "Thousand Evil men" is actually a MAN, or actually, any of them, so this could be either a man or a woman that is seduced then killed (Also suggested in "Prison") as The Man's final Penance. You really can't tell if the man gets his woman(if indeed it is a woman), personally I think the woman may be Helena (which may sound twisted, when you know the logic behind the name) but that would be a woman's death for whom perhaps the man kills the thousand evil men.
It is not necessarily sexual as some imply.
Though the album could be considered sexual, after songs like "Prison" and the video for "I'm not okay" may suggest, but I believe that is to do with the concept alone.... as "The Ghost of You" in the lines, "For all the ghosts that are never gonna catch me" , also kind of would back up the fact that the wo/man died, Or indeed a partner in these Heineouis crimes as perhaps indicated also in the song "Hang 'Em High" as that would explain the bit, "If I Fall/ And don't look back". I also think that this album
So... this song is one of pain, anguish, remorse and siffering, perhaps not ended his life with these bullets, but it could be a metaphor, for how he has lost that side of himself as the thousand evil men are dead, and his sin's forgiven. The bullets and the two shots, would show how he has given up his previous liffe and no longer is bound to kill these 1000 evil men.It is a powerful closing to a powerful album, it really shows us about the faults in life and how generally things are "Too Much Too Late".
That is the porblem with "three Cheers for sweet Revenge" You only know the True meaning when you understand the album.

i always thought it was the story of an undertaker
("Say a prayer" , "Grieve you")
who actually was a hitman.
("the photographs that i gave you" , "to hide my face")
in one of his missions he kills a person who lived around the block. and during the burial he meets his girlfriend with whom he falls in love with.
(Can I meet you alone)
He tells her about his secret.
His anonymous boss knows about it and sends his lackies to kill both of them.

ok, b-angle i'm pretty "shure" you asked for it, but:

I can't help but notice you going around dissing everyone for their opinions about a song's meanings. so iwould like to remind you of a concept named "freedom of speech", not "shure" you ever heard of it but i'll explain, this site is for posting on what this song means to you. so throw your opinion on me just cause i'm way off.

This song is a bit of a sad ending for the CD- The guy dies right before he'd find the person he loves again, I believe.

It also reminds me of someone else- Killing often, with knives, losing someone he loves in one way or another, and meeting the devil... But that's all I'm saying. ^^:
