What's with the riffs during "she won't stop me put it down?"
I don't think anyone will answer. Hee hee. Oh well.

I LOVE this song!. It's my ringtone, LMFAO. It goes off and everyone's just like looking at me like "What's up with that girl's ringtone?" Ha ha.
I love the intro and the chorus - BEST CHORUS EVER!

When I listen to this song, I imagine Gerard and his girl dressed up as cowpeople walking through town, then suddenly these people pop up and start shooting and everything and Gerard and his girl are like back to back and shooting... It's pretty cool. And then Gerard gets shot and falls to the ground. Then he starts, like, screaming at her, "Don't stop if I fall and don't turn back. Oh, baby..." So then the girl runs away and Gerard's like crawling on the ground, still singing (ha ha), and someone kicks him and he looks up and theres this person with a gun pointing it straight at his face.
Yeah, pretty sad.

I think that the song has a sort of Bonnie and Clyde thing going on. Bonnie and Clyde was about a couple who robbed banks together. He was the shooter and shea was the driver of the get away car. That was always the mental image I got; Gerard and some girl robbing a bank and him telling her to get away even if he is hurt. It's kind of a twisted love song.

This song is about lovers who are going after the bad guys and the girl is asking the guy if he would die for her and if he would lie to her.While they're fighting the bad guys, hes telling her that if he falls and dies to go on and dont look back.

ok maybe im off here but going by the concept, i think that the girl (not him!) died in demolition lovers. and demolition lovers is from his perspective. and i think this song is the same scene from her perspective.
anyone agree?????

Well, from just reading the tv guide, there is a Clint Eastwood movie on tonight ... called Hang Em' High ........I'm guessing this song might just possibly be about Gerard secret love for Clint

Ha ha, i love this song. The begining is deciving though, i thought i downloaded some country song at first but i listened to it and I've been addicted to it ever since. I love when Gerard sings "Don't stop if I fall and don't look back" His voice is purely amazing *and amazingly hot!*

thinking in terms of the concept, maybe its the beginning of his 1,000 murders? Like they died in Ghost of You, and just now does the whole thing start. or maybe they die in Thank You For the Venom. Though maybe, If its true about Its Not a Fashion Statement, this is where the friend betrays the dude in the story, saying that its already begun, and this is where the main character "falls" and gets into that hole that he talks about Fashion Statement...i dont know...thats what i think.

I dunno. It's a lot different from the other songs on the album. I think it is about a girl asking him if he would die for her and him saying I've told you a million times before and would I tell you lies? I don't know, but I think it's like them going through the desert and Jerard getting in a gun fight with someone else for her along the way. It's got a totally western theme about it. I kinda think it's like a Bonnie and Clyde thing goin' on. Anyone else get what I mean?

this is one of my most Favorite songs on the Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge album. I think Gerard is trying to say no matter what happens to him, carry on and mourn later, hence:

"Dont stop bury me and fade to black"

I believe this is part of the "concept" portion of the album, no?

The whole "Would I die for you? Here's your answer in spades: shotgun sinners, wild-eyed jokers, got you in my sights" is meaning "would I die for you? Here's your answer in spades: I'd kill 1000 people for you"

also note the lines about climbing out of a pine box and the angels cutting out her tongue, the latter indicating her soul is in agony while he's fighting to get her back.

A girl doesn't believe her boyfriend loves her. So she keeps asking him if he would die for her and if he would lie to her. They are trying to kill the bad guys together. And is telling her if he dies to carry on, and keep going.

I love everything about this song, and the album!

We had to make storybooks in art class, so I based mine entirely on "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge." I got an A+ and the teacher said it was like nothing she ever read. MCR is fuckin awsome!!!

I saw MCR while they were in Texas with Reggie and Alkaline Trio. Trio and MCR were awesome, i just wish now that i was more familiar with their songs, the only ones i remember was Helena and a new song Come out and Play? Anyway, this song to me is after a gunfight (in the center of a restaraunt?) where Gerard gets shot saving his girl but wasn't instantly fatal, the song is his recollection of their flight. "wait until it fades to black...i've got somthing to say" narration or just telling his girl he loves her one last time. next four lines reinforce western theme with six-shooters, hands of poker, and riding off after a gunfight. The next part about shotgun sinners and jokers im guess were his adversaries, "after all is said and done" - after the gun fight "Climb out from the pine box" as aforementioned means escape death, his girl did that is. "Cuz she's got nothing to say

Call her black mariah" i take this as she's stunned that he got shot and the angel of death stopped before it took all of her, and black mariah (if the comics are correct) means her death was stolen form her. "mass convulsions" are the twitching bodies of those they laid waste "strike the choir" - the end is nearing and the good guys made it out "by the grace of god, gun it while im holding on" he wants to die as far away from the restaraunt as possible while he's still alive (holding on). the chorus is selfexplanatory, if he falls (dies from not hanging on) bury him and keep going.
All in all its a song of love til death they do part, the western theme just spices it up a bit. sorry it was long but thorough.

i absolutely love my chem. they are the best band in the whole world. Gerard is sooooooooo hot and so are the rest of them. hang'em high is sucha great song. i have no clue what it means but im visualizing Gerard getting shot and dying and then he's telling his girlfriend dont stop and dont look back just bury me. i listened to the first cd and it is awesome and then i just had to buy the first cd and the dvds to add to my collection. im also waiting for them to have a concert so i can go to it. i luvvv mcr!!!
