Lyrics for The Ghost of You as interpreted by Mike NJSS

The Ghost of You Lyrics
I never, said I'd lie and wait forever
If I did we'd be together now
I can't always just forget her
But she could try

At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are
Never coming home
Never coming home
Could I?
Should I?
And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever ever...

Ever...
Get the feeling that you're never
All alone and I remember now
At the top of my lungs in my arms she dies
She dies

At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are
Never coming home
Never coming home
Could I?
Should I?
And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me
Never coming home
Never coming home
Could I?
Should I?
And all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me
For all the ghosts that are never gonna catch me

If I fall...
If I fall...
Down
Wooooooooaaaaaahhhhh

At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are
Never coming home
Never coming home
Never coming home
Never coming home

And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me
Never coming home
Never coming home
Could I....
Should I?
And all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me
For all the ghosts that are never gonna.....

i must admit, my mates were more into mcr than me but this song just gives me goosebumps...it is SO powerful and the video is really good too - kinda puts a different spin on how it can be read i guess. he has such a good voice and i didn't appreciate that before. after listening to the rest of their shit i think i've changed my mind about them. beautiful song :)

Someones probebly already thought this but whatever, i cant be arsed to read all of them, but this is what i think its about.

I think its about some girl who died and the only way he thinks he can be with her is suicide which is what i think the "Could I? Should I?" bit is about, ks he sings " If I died we'd be together." he saying he can't forget her and he's thinking of ll the stuff that will haunt him, and how he can't forget her, but she can try. " you are never coming home." also the bit where he sings "at the end of the world OR THE LAST THING I SEE." saying or the last thing he sees, is suggesting he's gona kill himself. " Its quite obvious its about a gilr whos died ks of the lyrics "she dies, she dies"

"for all the ghosts that are never gonna catch me
if i fall, if i fall down" nothing thing which could say if he dies he can be with her.

So yeah.

I've done this messily i know, but you should get what i'm on about.

GERARD WAY...IS AMAZING...I WISH I WAS OLIVIA. SHES SO LUKY. i wish i knew what she looke dlike though.

I was watching the music video of 'Helena' and they had band info. It said that this cd was about two boys getting through the death of their grandma. That's what I think this song is about anyways and it makes me think about my grandpa, the part about 'never coming home' I think that all the time cause he's never coming back. Anyways that's what I think.

dude, whatever channel you were watching (probably mtv...) they got it wrong. the song helena is about gerard and mikey way's grandma (who they called helena) dying. the concept of the overall cd is about a man in a bonnie and clyde type relationship dying and being told by the devil that he must collect 1000 souls in order to be reunited with his significant other.

ok well i actually heard some theories about this, not this song in particular, although i include ut, but about this cd in general,

theory 1) He murderd or came very close to killing someone
(speculation about girlfriends)
theory 2)his friend/girlfriend commited suicide and he blames himself for it

im not sure what to believe althought i think the latter is the most likely, i have only just started to get into MCR due to this song, and yeah before i didnt really like them at all, i thought that they were really commercialised but now im not so sure

I love this song but where he sings

"at the top of my lungs, in my arms
she dies, she dies"

It's way out of tune where he says the first "she dies"

Love the chorus though

to me this song means either his girlfriend died or his she left him for good. And the memories of her haunt him endlessly, and when he says could i? should i? he is thinking about taking his own life to end the misery of missing her, or to join her in heaven. But the song is no doubt about loss, and never regaining that loss

But he looks so vunerable in videos like the vid for this...You just want to kiss him all over and fuck all his worries away!!!!Sorry anyone else feel the same....
Yeah it's about his dead love and his desire to be with her!!!

first off i absolutly love this song and just recently became a fan of MCR.Gerard has incredible vocal and lyrical abilities..and i think he looks so much better with short hair like in this video whereas in his other videos hes got long hair.second, lots of people think the she might be his mother or sister or grandmother..i never knew all those people so close to him had died but anyways..in the music video theres couples dancing, which gives me the impression that its about a girlfriend..also cus of the fact that hes got no one there too dance with..(not that he could cus hes singing but, there could be someone there just to accompany him to the dance) the whole army aspect i dont really see how it fits with the song..i'd think if hes in the army he'd be the one who dies and his girlfriend would be grieving..but maybe he joined the army so there would be a chance of him dying and being reunited with his girlfriend..or whoever the dying person may be. this probably sounds weird its just something i thought may be an interpretation more so of the music video then of the song.i absolutly love this song though it makes me want to cry..i usually just tear up..all the pain..it so amazing when people can write songs that can be so empowering over people like me even though i havent shared these experiences.

my interpretation of the song is:this song is about a guy grieving of the death of a person close to him.i am guessing its his girlfriend, in the music video hes the only one not dancing..but then again he is singing too so.everyother pesron there had a girlfriend or wife with them but he didnt.the song is so sad..i love it so much though.the could i should i suggests if he should kill himself so that he can be with whoever died in the afterlife.he cant seem to live without this person, her smiles are gonna haunt him and he cant stand that he never got to hear all the things she couldve told him..maybe she had been lying to him and he never got to find ou the truth.the first verse suggests that he cant forget her and if he were to die at least he'd be with her.when he says she could try i think he means that her ghost could try to contact him or something..or she could give him a sign that shes alright..that kinda seems far fetch'd but thats what i think when he says that.the second verse gives me the idea that she was unhappy with her life...
"Ever...
Get the feeling that you're never
All alone and I remember now"
this makes me think that maybe the girl felt she was alone and hes comforting her as shes dying in his arms that u'll never be alone cus he will always be with her..but thats obviously not how he feels cus hes saying that shes never coming home and that they will never be together unless he were to die too.the chorus is saying that in his last moment of life she still wont be there, but he would be reuniting with her.i think he may have wanted her to appear as hes dying and welcome him to the afterlife as he dies.this is just my opinion on the song..some thing are kinda weird but thats just what i thought.

this song is about World War 2.... if u look at the lyrics... they totally relate to war... for example... wounds... from the war,,, ghosts, people dieing in the war.. never coming home... from the war.... also... i hav a friend who saw the music video... and she sed that its a war... but yeah the video comes out in a few weeks... but of corse those posers are gona be like oh my god i love mcr once they hear this song... and im gona be annoyed and want to shoot them.

MCR made the video like a war so it was unexpected...like he said at the VMA interview, "the song (The Ghost of You) is basically the fear of losing someone."

The song is about losing a loved one [whether it be a lover, sibling, mother, or his grandmother, who was written about in 'Helena'], and contemplating waiting to meet them again in the afterlife, or comitting suicide to be with them now. The most obvious examples being:
"if i died we'd be together now"
"you are never coming home, never coming home
could i? should i?"
"get the feeling that you're never
all alone
and i remember now
at the top of my lungs, in my arms
she dies, she dies".
It also covers 'What If...' scenarios, and feeling that someone's there for you even though they're gone ["get the feeling that you're never
all alone"]
And the fear of not having someone there for you when you need them most ["for all the ghosts that are never gonna catch me
if i fall, if i fall down"]

To Hilaryxx: How can it be out of tune if they wrote the song and therefore choose what notes to sing in? :\

I hate Music Videos.

They piss me off! -.-'

Especially when they don't agree with the song.
Well, They agree... but they don't? You know what I mean? Naw, How could you... I don't understand myself.

This song is great.

I hate the video.
