Okay...
What I got from this song is that its got alot to do with the concept for the whole album...

I think at the begin he is in the middle of slaughtering some of 1000 hundred men he gets caught and sent to prision... ends up getting raped ect.

Gerard in interviews has said that it started out as a complete concept album but as time went by alot of their own personal stroies got mixed in there.

So I think it also is mixed with Gerards own dealings and mixed feelings with Bisexuality.

That his girlfriend or someone girl he loves wants him to kiss a guy but he doesn't know if he wants to or not...

Thats my personal idea.

I also love the part when they sing 'I miss my mom' <3

this song is about how gerard has to kill 1000 men to be with his dead g/f. and he says 'well there never gonna get me'. so he doesn't actually go to prison. he's just saying what they do to guys like him there. and the lyrics tell us that he is a normal man who somehow got rapped up in this killing lifestyle. he's saying that there isn't enough pain in his heart for her dying wish. b/c he doesn't want to keep killing people. and that makes sense. would you want to go around killing people all of the time?

o never mind i found it. it's on 3 cheers. maybe they really were in prison together and fucked each other? but if gerard was in prison he could go on tour and stuff...the police department and stuff would think he was too much of a danger
well i guess it depends on what he was in prison for.
any ideas?

okay so yeah. um. this song is about prison rape. you can already tell just by reading the title. i'm not gonna try to figure out how it fits into the whole "concept album" thing cuz i think some songs are just made because someone just wanted to make it. not every song has to have a reference towards love and/or relationships. and maybe he's gay. maybe he's not. bottom line is the song is about prison rape.

oh, okay. i'm thinking now that gerard maybe was bi and he hooked up with bert one night in jail when he was drunk and confused, and then he realized, hey there's plenty of girls who would do me, so why am i with bert? see, he knew that i liked him so he dropped bert and wanted to find me, but he couldn't cuz i'm too young for him. it's okay though, when i'm 18, thing will happen. yea....(j/k)

Lol! Gerard isn't gay. He's got a girlfriend. Or at least he did have its rumored they broke up but it might just be someone elses wishfull thinking.

I dont think that Gerard or Bert have been to prision either.
Gerard has said in interviews he used the song as a meterfore (sorry bad spelling) for what its like being in a band.

ok, someone agree with me here. When I'm listening to this song - for the chorus I keep hearing - "Now, but I can't and I don't know how we're just men as god has made us - well who cares, well I care...." Now I checked the book, and the book shows what it shows here, but I'm not so sure that's what he's singing. Because, to get technical, at the end he doesn't sing "I can't go down by myself" like the book says, he actually sings "I won't go down by myself" is anyone hearing the - who cares, I care thing???? word.

I love that line.... it's such a huge poetic contrast: the pain and death of bullets and war and the peace of a flock of doves.

-and, of course, "life. is. but. a. DREAM. for the dead"-

maybe he got sent to prison (the guy killing people) and found a homosexual lover in prison, but ended up having to kill him? its a stretch, the homosexual lover could be a would-be rapist....

First of all, I don't want to be an ass but The Used are NOT screamo (but I do like them a lot).

Secondly, someone said that Maybe Memories is their second album. It isn't. It's a DVD with a documentary style feature, music videos, and the like.

Thirdly, this song is mindblowing.

ummm, bert and gerard were never in prison together! and even though gerard did have a girlfriend he still had random makeout sessios with Bert. Bert says that gerard wrote the song about them making out... and i think a lot of people have the right idea with this song. about how he killed the people and he is saying that he can't go to prison cuz this is what will happen

this song is about what happened between bert and gerard.they were ahnging out one day and they gor drunk.so they figured it would be funny to make out but they made out for like an hour and realized it wasnt so funny..it was kind..umm..gay.lol..so that what its about.i heard someone say it in an interview or sumtin.and it relates to prison cuz u no guys buttrape other men and such. : )
