in the middle of a gunfight
in the center of a restaurant
they say come with your arms raised high
well they're never gonna get me
like a bullet through a flock of doves
to wage this war against your faith in me
your life will never be the same
on your mother's eyes say a prayer
say a prayer

-chorus:
now
but i can't
and i don't know
how we're just two men as god had made us
well i can't
well i can

too much too late
or just not enough of this
pain in my heart for your dying wish
i'll kiss your lips again
:chorus-

they all cheat at cards and the checkers are lost
my cellmate's a killer
they make me do pushups in drag
but nobody cares if you're losing yourself
am i losing myself?

and well i miss my mom
will they give me the chair?
or lethal injection?
or swing from a rope if you dare
oh nobody knows all the trouble i seen

-chorus-

to your room
what they ask of you
they make you want to see(?)
how long
well i dont remember
i remember
do you have the keys to the hotel?

life is but a dream for the dead
and well i can't go down by myself
but i'll go down with my friends
take it like a man

General Comment:'Too much too late or just not enough of this' = Drug reference

'They all cheat at cards' = His friends, his 'cellmates' all cheat in life, don't play by the rules.

'My cellmate's a killer' = His cellmate/friend has done some horrible things, although the 'killer' part might be over exaggerated it is a metaphor of the bad things his friend/cellmate has done in the past.

'They make me do push-ups in drag' = He's speaking of people he knows, his fans or maybe even society in general making him act the opposite (Drag= A man dressing the OPPOSITE sex) way he wants to, and he's finding it difficult. (Push-ups= difficult).

'But nobody cares if you're losing yourself' = He's talking about the drug life, none of your fellow drug-users care about your mental state, they just get you to take drugs with them for their own benefits and fun.

'Take it like a man' = Although I never hear this line of the song, except it is inside the Revenge CD's lyric booklet I do think this lyric is referring to life. It's saying that life is hard, you're going to have to do things you don't want to once in a while so take it like a man.

General Comment:Not many may figure this. After all, This song has "prison" in the name. It is somewhat a metaphor for death, or kind of being in huge pain before death, or purgatory, in my honest opinion. One of my favorites because of Gerard's emotion in the way background: "I miss my mom" that part made me cry last night. I had been crying already just a little, but... That much emotion is powerful.

General Comment:This song reminds me of Beyond Birthday from Death Note. I can't help but think of him at the very end, when you hear that psychotic little laugh! This is his anthem, officially.

    General Comment:I like this song.
This is a new form of rock music -- extra spicy.
It's not like common emo song. It has dignity, I think.

    Tempo and raging din.
    Gerard is genius.
    Even though . . . I don't like this 'gay idea'.
And I think the guitar sound will be better in heavier distortion.
    Heil Gerard Arthur!!

General Comment:Ok, I'm pretty sure this song is about going to prison. And being in prison. And getting raped in prison. Or did I completely miss the point of the song? x]

General Comment:Wow this song rocks. I know I'm not helping with the fucking lyrics but...GOD THIS SONG IS SO AMAZING! especially tht little laf gee does at the end! its so cute! ^^ just like him

well ppl tht hate mcr r like...retarded
i think tht they shud officially die. just fall down a cliff onto a billion shards of broken sea glass. And the waves crash over their faces as they desperatley try to breathe ovr and ovr but nvr succeed. nd then they end up drowning and red water flows thruout the rest of the ocean. Then sharks come and eat their heads, giv them to me, and then i stick them in jars of em-bombing fluid nd stic them on my desk to remind me of all the hatrs so tht i will nvr EVR giv up on tellin them 2 GO FUCKIN KILL THEM SELVES.
or fall off a cliff :3

okay thts all i hav to say :D

General Comment:o submitted without the meaning! yea its just part of the concept album.
After killing a bunch of people in an attempt to bring his love back to life, he is caught and ends up in prison. the rest of the song is just about the lame rapeness of prison.. and how upset he is about prison clothing.. its so drag..

General Comment:fuckin great song, BUT, the live version is so much more fun!! i have both the album &live version on my ipod and wow the live one is killer. just cuz its so raw and sounds so much more real.. cuz it is! zero editing makes me happy. and i like his voice better live.. its like he doesn't try as hard to sound strange like the album version..
