I'm trying not to stare, it's too late
The blankets over there, if you like
I'm broken and I'm colder than hell
I should've said I'd not come back here
Your breakfast will get cold
I really have to go
It's easier to lie and be safe
Time and time again I'm half stalled
One giant leap of faith is easy
When everyone you ask is so sure
Just give a second thought
What if we don't get caught
Just say you love me now
And forget this whole row
Just save your energy
For making up with me
The blankets over there, if you like
I'm broken and I'm colder than hell
I should've said I'd not come back here
Your breakfast will get cold
I really have to go
It's easier to lie and be safe
Time and time again I'm half stalled
One giant leap of faith is easy
When everyone you ask is so sure
Just give a second thought
What if we don't get caught
Just say you love me now
And forget this whole row
Just save your energy
For making up with me

"i'm trying not to stir, it's too late..." he wants to bring up the topic, but it's really late at night.
"the blanket's over there if you'd like..." she's spending the night, she's tired but no one is sleeping.
"i'm broken and i'm colder than hell..." he's damaged goods, he doesn't believe in love nor wants to try.
"i should've said i not come back here..." they've been at it before, hooked up but remained friends.
"your breakfast will get cold. i really have to go..." it's morning and the guilt's setting in.
"it's easier to lie and be safe..." they're lying to themselves that they cannot work and should not try.
"time and time again I'm half stalled..." he's into her, she's into him but timing's never right.
"one giant leap of faith is easy..." it's so easy for them drop everything and be together.
"when everyone you ask is so sure..." feedback from people say they should give it a go.
"just give it a second thought. what if we don't get caught..." all in all she still has a boyfriend but he doesn't care, he really wants her.
"just say you love me now and forget this whole row..." he wants to never mind everything and just be with her.
"just save your energy for making up with me..." telling her to never mind everything and concentrate on making up with him for lingering and having him wait for so long.
I think this song is about a guy who's trying to get back together with his ex. She had cheated on him but he cares about her and he's trying to get through it, and he's not sure if he really wants it.
"The blankets over there, if you like". It's like, he kind of is angry and is afraid of doing things like that. Like what guy wouldn't get his girl a blanket.
"I'm broken and I'm colder than hell
I should've said I'd not come back here"
I think this is kind of apparent. He feels like he can't trust her and he's having second thoughts as to whether or not he can really go through with this.
"Just give a second thought
What if we don't get caught"
This one is interesting. It's like... He's kind of worried about the reprocussions of what's happening. Like, where is this going to go? Can we make it last?
"Just say you love me now
And forget this whole row
Just save your energy
For making up with me"
Annnd he decides he wants to try it, but she has to try a lot harder to fix things. It can't be all on him.
Just my few cents.
He's looking at her, regretting what he did ("should've said I'd not come back"). Then it's him who says her breakfast will get cold and he needs to leave. He's realized that he really wants to be with the first woman and is ashamed of what he did.
The second verse is him trying to figure out what to do about it. He could just lie, pretend it didn't happen, and hope she'll never find out ("it's easier to lie and be safe). But all of his friends/family that he talks to think he needs to tell her ("giant leap of faith", "everyone you ask is so sure").
The second chorus is him remembering the woman he slept with during the break, her trying to get him to stay with her. Maybe she's literally talking to him and asking him to come over again.
In the end, he decides to tell his girlfriend the truth. She respects his honesty and asks him to show his commitment to her ("just say you love me now"). She doesn't want him to let this transgression linger ("just forget this whole row") but she also isn't letting him off the hook ("for making up with me").
That is my thoughts x
Beautiful, but heartbreaking - *sniff* gets me every time!
Especially love that last line - it's so true! Whenever you have an argument with someone you care about, you ALWAYS end up being so desparate just to get back to normal that whatever you were fighting about seems insignificant in the face of how much you miss them.
I really have to go"
Im proberly wrong but I think the first two verses are a conversation between two people. They've slept together but one regrets it, possibly because its with an ex. One of them wants the other to stay saying "Your breakfast will get cold" and the other making an excuse to leave saying he/she "really has to go"
My view anyway proberly wrong
Beautiful song though
