You've gotta hope that there's someone for you
As strange as you are
Who can cope with the things that you do
Without trying too hard

Because you can bend the truth
Until it's soothing you
These things that you're wrapping all around you
You never know what they will amount to
And your life is just going on without you
It's the end of the things you know
Here we go

You've gotta know that there's more to this world
Than what you have seen
Because we all have a limited view of what we can be

As we move along
With our blinders on
Each one of us feels a little stranded
And you can't explain or understand it
Each one of us on a different planet
And admist all the to and fro
Someone can say "Hello,
Here we go"

The feeling that someone really gets you
It's something that no one should object to
It could happen today so I suggest you
Skip your habit of laying low
It's the end of the things you know
Here we go

Because someone can say "Hello,
You old so and so, here we go"

General Comment:I love this song because it speaks to the weirdos in the world. The people who have so many quirks, so many problems, so many issues...the kind of person most people bypass because they don't want to deal with those problems.

It's saying that when you're screwed up, you tend to hide away because you're used to rejection...but it's only hurting yourself to close yourself off entirely like that. Saying that even though we often feel like we're all living in different dimensions, like we have to protect ourselves against everything, we still need to open ourselves a little if we ever want to find someone who will not only "put up" with the problems but perhaps love you for them.

Making yourself vulnerable is terrifying...but it can be worth it in the end. I love the music itself because it says what even the lyrics can't. This song encompasses that unsure worried hopeful feeling you get when you want to do something but the fear holds you back.

General Comment:Isn't it, 'suiting you' and not 'soothing you'?

General Comment:This is much like a generic Aimee Mann song... an Aimee Mann song of the type Jon Brion helped produce on the Magnolia soundtrack, except it'd be one of the better tracks because it's one of those excellent "instruction manuals" of love for an increasingly neurotic audience (seriously, Jon Brion has a thing for writing music to movies where neurotic people fall in love (Magnolia/Eternal Sunshine/Punch Drunk))

re: Punch Drunk Love, or the soundtrack thereof, totally sounds like it could be a Willie Wonka soundtrack.
