Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away
Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away

When the war is over
Got to get away
Pack my bag to no place
In no time no day
You and I we used each other's shoulder
Still so young but somehow so much older
How can I go home and not get
Blown away

You and I had our sights set
On something
Hope this doesn't mean our days are numbered
I got plans for more than a wanted man
All around this chaos and madness
Can't help feeling nothing more than sadness
Only choice to face it the best I can

When the war is over
Got to start again
Try to hold a trace of what it was
Back then
You and I we sent each other stories
Just a page I'm lost in all its glory
How can I go home and not get blown away

Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away
Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away
Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away

Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away
Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away
Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away

There aren't words to describe what this verse means to me, especially the first part.
The live version of this song from Ringside is just incredible. One of the best songs I know.

My Interpretation:I always thought that the song was about someone who had fled to avoid conscription, and avoid leaving his love behind.
Pack my bags to no place in no time no day (nowhere to go). How can I go home and not get blown away (he'll get arrested if he goes back home). I had plans for more than a wanted man. Ain't nobody (the government) gonna steal this heart away.

General Comment:this song has nothing to do with going to war, soldiers or guns etc..fairly obvious what this song is about:

The song is a lover reflecting on a war and love within a relationship. In the heat of the the "war" (i.e. aurguement etc) the lover needs to "get away" (i''m sure many have experienced this!)..while away, reminisces about their love and realises his/her love for the other..therefore, comes back to start fresh..

simple and yet so beautiful :-)

General Comment:Has Anyone Thaught Of This As Like, A Prelude To Flame Trees?

As In, The Girl That Has Left His Hometown, That He Is Thinking Of In This Song.

    Something To Ponder.
