Avril Lavigne – How Does It Feel

  My Interpretation:I know this isn't why it was originally written, and I won't be too popular for bringing classics into pop songs, but this song really reminds me of Catherine Earnshaw from Wuthering Heights.
  
  The verses are about her mindset, and how she's 'not afraid of anything' (she's a proud, strong-headed girl) but then suddenly, she dies of illness.
  
  The reason this struck me was because there are lots of references in the book about how Heathcliff and Cathy are one and the same (e.g. 'I am Heathcliff', 'I cannot live without my life') and it makes me think of Cathy in death, wondering how it feels to him to be separated and different from one another for the first time.
  
  Make of that what you will... :)

  General Comment:I always thought it was a song about growing up since she was 19 or so when she did this album was made.
  
  The first four lines talk about teenaged years when you're "invincible" and nothing much phases you. The next four lines focus on getting thrown into the "adult world" where everything is different. The lines after the chorus make me think of trying to find your way in the world, but not quite succeeding at it.
  
  The "Will you comfort me? Will you cry with me?" lines made me always think of a breakdown where everything gets too stressful and you just reach out for help.
  
  The next two lines, "I am small and the world is big, but I'm not afraid of anything" is like finally succeeding at growing up and fitting in with your new surroundings.
  
  The chorus was a little tricky. I always thought it was her asking the people around her if they felt they same way, but now looking at it i think that maybe it's her talking to the child she once was. Asking how it feels to be a different person, and if she is the same person after getting older.

  General Comment:I've always thought this song was about a mentally disabled person who's trying to ask everyone how it feels to be different and letting them know that they're the same as everyone else even if they are different: that they get tired and weak, that they want comfort and love just like everyone else. But that's just me.

  General Comment:I've always thought of this song as a postbreakup song. Or an undecided break up.
  
  She's"not afraid of anything...but suddenly...she's small and surrounded by so many things."
  
  I think that shows confusion.
  
  "How does it feel
  To be different from me?
  Are we the same?
  How does it feel"
  
  People seem to be 'one person' when they're together. So she's questioning if they're still the same.
  
  "Would you comfort me...would you cry with me"
  
  She possibly no longer has anyone to turn to, doesn't know what to do. She needs comfort, someone to cry with.

  General Comment:I think thait's an ok song i mean it's not her best but it isn't her worst. I am a big fan of avril lavigne but even I have to admit that this songn isn't really up to scratch. Its a bit to repetitive for my liking

  General Comment:I love this song..it was playing wen I got some bad news about my friend..it made me feel calm..she's saying that we're diferent and it's okay..she admits her weaknesses in this song...I love it!!!
