This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
This is me, for forever
One of the lost ones
The one without a name
Without an honest heart as compass
This is me, for forever
One without a name
These lines the last endeavor
To find the missing lifeline
Oh, how I wish
For soothing rain
All I wish is to dream again
My loving heart
Lost in the dark
For hope I'd give my everything
My flower, withered between
The pages two and three
The once and forever bloom gone with my sins
Walk the dark path
Sleep with angels
Call the past for help
Touch me with your love
And reveal to me my true name
Oh, how I wish
For soothing rain
All I wish is to dream again
My loving heart
Lost in the dark
For hope I'd give my everything
Oh, how I wish
For soothing rain
Oh, how I wish to dream again
Once and for all
And all for once
Nemo my name forevermore
Nemo sailing home
Nemo letting go
Oh, how I wish
For soothing rain
All I wish is to dream again
My loving heart
Lost in the dark
For hope I'd give my everything
Oh, how I wish
For soothing rain
Oh, how I wish to dream again
Once and for all
And all for once
Nemo, my name forevermore
Name for evermore
One of the lost ones
The one without a name
Without an honest heart as compass
This is me, for forever
One without a name
These lines the last endeavor
To find the missing lifeline
Oh, how I wish
For soothing rain
All I wish is to dream again
My loving heart
Lost in the dark
For hope I'd give my everything
My flower, withered between
The pages two and three
The once and forever bloom gone with my sins

Touch me with your love
And reveal to me my true name
Oh, how I wish
For soothing rain
All I wish is to dream again
My loving heart
Lost in the dark
For hope I'd give my everything
Oh, how I wish
For soothing rain
Oh, how I wish to dream again
Once and for all
And all for once

Nemo sailing home
Nemo letting go
Oh, how I wish

All I wish is to dream again
My loving heart
Lost in the dark
For hope I'd give my everything
Oh, how I wish
For soothing rain
Oh, how I wish to dream again
Once and for all
And all for once
Nemo, my name forevermore
Name for evermore

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,

Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
Plastic Bag

Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
Straight from the songwriter's own mouth:
"Not the fish! I cannot believe how everyone seems to be convinced it’s that. Nemo, which is Latin for "nobody," has nothing to do with the Disney film. It revolves around the feelings I have from time to time. I feel nameless and do not know who I am or where I will go. I only know my past and I long to be back there. The song is about being lost, not knowing where to go or what to do, yet desperate for everything in life. That’s not always me, but when I wrote Nemo, that’s the way I felt. Now I feel better." the Nemo=Nobody fact is correct and that's waht Nemo means in this song
the song is about being nothing (atleast feeling as you're nothing) or not knowing who you are, if you've seen the video, then you see that she disappears into thin air at the end of it...
Mordred is right, Toumas is the mastermind behind Nightwish, tarja is the voice sent from heaven to spread his message.
Nemo is all about feeling missunderstood and having no identity, no place in this world. It is the endless struggle to find who you are, and what's your place in this cruel world.
So nobody thinks it's Little Nemo the Dreammaster? Well, darn. ;p
Seriously, I'd tend to lean towards the Jules Verne idea, from the water imagery in the song - "soothing rain", "sailing home" and "compass" - the choice of words seems to imply the Captain Nemo interpretation. The 'nobody' interpretation works as well, though.
It was probably meant to be both. The more layers the better.
nemo is also "omen" backwards
Well, after reading through two pages of comments on "Nemo", I was more than vaguely disheartened that NO ONE (pun intended) picked up what this song is referencing. Yes, we all know that Captain Nemo's name is a reference to the existential loneliness that his character experiences, but Jules Verne was almost certainly referencing a far older work when he picked out his captain's name, in fact the 'name' that he picked was used by one of the oldest and most well known captain-heroes in all of literature, Odysseus.
For those unfamiliar with the Odyssey, 'no one' or 'no man' is the alias that Odysseus uses to trick the cyclops Polyphemus and thus enable his escape. For the details, read the Odyssey, (it is good, I promise... that is why it has been around for ~3000 years.) Here is a good explanation of Odysseus's encounter with the Cyclops and the pun on his name that is lost in translation:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odysseus
Nemo is the capitain of Nautilus, the submarine from Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea... And this is a song about loneliness...
Nemo is also latin for 'Nobody' or something similar.
'Nobody, my name for evermore' Whilst I agree with the Jules Verne comment, I think this is used as well.
The meaning of "Nemo" it's typed in the song... "The one without a name".<br /> Anyways the song is fantastic... I think is the best Nightwish's song.
oh my this is truely one of the all time best songs...the music is amazing..i saw it and my mouth was hanging open for like 10 minutes..this song is i think about a person who is alone..but wishes to liek be brought back to life..and is trying to find out the path to take to get out of the dark..Tarja is like so fircking awesome..i LOVE her! as a singer o/c
I think the name Nemo is a symbol of free will, the sea traveling is often used as metaphor for a free life with no bounds to anything.
The one without a name is the one without a purpose, without a goal in life, without a compas. The flower of the dreams of young age is used now only as a display of that time but a flower in a book is dead. So our man (or woman) must find what to do in life, must find a name. The name is Nemo, the seaman, the free, the man who is not belonging to anyone and anything. So, is time to sail to the seas of freedom.
P.S. As for some who think that their lyrics are bad i must remind them that nightwish is not a pop band with lyrics for brainless people. Use your head!!!
