Breakdown!

Let the fun and games begin
She is spayed and broken in
Skin is cold and white
Such a lovely lonely night

Heaven is on the way
You could feel the hate
But I guess you never will
I'm on a roll again
And I want an end
'cause I feel you creeping in

[Chorus]
What I found in this town
I'm heading for a breakdown
What's that sound, you're so loud
I'm heading for a breakdown

Drank up all my alcohol
This is not a free for all
I'll be there for you
'Til my heart is black and blue

Heaven is on the way
You could feel the hate
But I guess you never will
I'm on a roll again
And I want an end
'cause I feel you creeping in

[Chorus: x2]

You breakdown, you're so proud.
I'm heading for a breakdown.
What's that sound, it's so loud.
I'm heading for a breakdown.
No!

Song Meaning:It's about having sex with a corpse. The second verse is in the corpse's perspective

General Comment:I LOVE this song it's the first one I ever heard by Breaking Benjamin. I think it's just about him using a girl for sex but she's either clueless or does'nt really care.
When he says "I'll be here for you till my heart is black and blue" I think he's referring to his alcohol problem. All in all I'm still in love with this song.

General Comment:I think the lyrics are off a bit. On the last chorus it does go through the chorus twice, but with a few changes. The second time around, it's something else instead of "What I've found/in this town". It's hard to make out what he says, so I listened to a live recording and it sounds something like "your black town/you're so proud", possibly saying that the whole town is like her (I'm a fan of the "bad relationship" theory), and that she fits in perfectly with the bad atmosphere. If anyone has official lyrics or any other information on this, it'd be great.

    General Comment:
The way i interpereted this is exactly what ive gone though....and in an interview Ben even said "i couldnt tell you what these songs are all about because its all how you take it" so this is just how i feel when i read the lyrics

[[Let the fun and games begin - He likes this girl but knows it will be hard as hell to end up together
She is spayed and broken in
    Skin is cold and white
Such a lovely, lonely night]] - (like stated in another comment) hes acknowledging her flaws...but its so he can just move on from those and see what he truely likes about her

[[Heaven is on the way,]] - The stress, agony, pain of being without her is building up and the thought of possibly suicide has crossed his mind because this isnt the first time hes gone through this with someone

    [[you could feel the hate
but I guess you never will]] - She could be able to understand his feelings and whats going through his head, (which is a lot of hate for himself and the world) but he is afraid of ruining everything with her if he tells his true feelings

    [[I'm on a roll again,
and I want an end cause I feel you creeping in]] - he is going through the exact same thing that has happened to him in other situations like this, and he has mixed feelings like he wants to be with her, but at the same time doesnt wanna go through with this again because shes slowly starting to get into his head and its painful for him

[[What I've found in this town
I'm heading for a breakdown]] - by "town" i think maybe the situation hes in, and its just too much for him

[[What's that sound? You're so loud.
I'm heading for a breakdown]] - All he hears is her voice in his head and his feelings are screaming at him

    [[Drank up all my alcohol
this is not a free for all]] - He has been drinking to try to make the pain and sorrow go away, and also telling all the other guys who are flirting with her to back off, because this girl is a huge flirt

    [[I'll be here for you
Till my heart is black and blue]] - He will always be there for her even though the fact shes a flirt and hes not with her and theres competition is tearing him apart

General Comment:The beginning of this song is so fucking great! The first time I heard it, I was fooled by the melody of the piano and thought maybe it was going to be another mellow song like Forget It, but then he just screams and it gives me chills every time! So great!!!! I don't really know what this song means, but I still love it.

General Comment:in my opinion, this song is clearly about an abusive relationship.
the first verse where he says "Let the fun and games begin" & i think it has something to do with him n his gf fooling around but then it turns abusive but she is used to him beating her up "spayed and broken in" except this time he might have gone too far "Skin is cold and white, Such a lovely, lonely night" he might have really hurt her n it all started out as such a lovely night yet now it feels so lonely...

heaven is on the way as in he thinks he might have killed her, you could feel the hate from all the the abuse n shit but he doesnt think she ever will.. once again, he thinks he killed her.. he's on a roll again as in he's done it again..this is not the first time he hurts her but now he wants an end.. he doesnt want to do this ever again but he can still feel her presence he feels her creeping in...

the chorus talks about how he has found nothing in that town except pain or something and now he's breaking down.. "what's that sound?" he can't recognize her voice anymore.. i think that's a metaphor, like he's really drunk n he thinks he can hear her n that is drivin him further into his breakdown..

he's blaming what he did on the alcohol and now he knows that what he did has cost him much "this is not free for all" he then assures her that he will be there for her.. though there might not be anything left to be there for.. but he will be by her side till his heart is black and blue.. and i think black and blue is another metaphor for being beaten up..cuz when u get beat up ur scars turn black and blue.. and beating her up felt like he was beating up his own heart..

well that's just me.. lemme know what u think..

General Comment:I think its about the frustration a boy is going through with a girl.

im relating this to my life because for me, music is a good way of showing emotion.

"Let the fun and games begin
She is spayed and broken in
    Skin is cold and white
    Such a lovely, lonely night"

for me this opening is the start of the relationship. He is saying "let the fun and games begin" because he recognises that life with this girl is going to be hard and by saying fun and games he is almost mocking the hurdles that will come into his path.
She is spayed and broken in, skin is cold and white, such a lovely, lonely night. This is the boy stating all the girls flaws and basicly saying he is ready for the rest of his life with this girl.

    "Heaven is on the way
    You could feel the hate
But I guess you never will
    I'm on a roll again
    And I want an end
'Cause I feel you creeping in"

this part is the boy telling the girl that he feels unhappy with her flirting with everyone and anyone that shows any interest and he is saying you could feel the way i do but i dont let you. he wants an end but not to the relationship, he wants an end to the unfaithful acts.

    "What I've found
    In this town
    I'm heading for a breakdown
    What's that sound?
    You're so loud
    I'm heading for a breakdown"

the main part of the chorus is him expressing how his life is turned upside down and that he is trying to get his feelings across (whats that sound? you're so loud) but all she hears is her own voice, the one that says what she is doing is fine and that the boy needs to love her or let her go.

    "Drank up all my alcohol
This is not a free for all
    I'll be there for you
'Til my heart is black and blue"

He is now drinking his sorrows away. He is also stating to all his competitors that its not a free for all, she is his girl and they should back off.
Next he is telling his girlfriend he'll be there for her until his heart can take no more of the pain.

well thats almost exactly the brief parts of my life with someone and i think it fits in perfectly with this song.

    General Comment:Rejection.
Intolerance of anyone who is different or has different ideals.
And people forcing their ideals on you.
And all you want to do is preserve yourself. Because you know in your heart that you have done nothing wrong.
You know you should feel content with yourself. But others come into your way, and try to change your very being.

That's what I feel this song is about.
Especially from living in a small town, probably.

Just think of it and apply these ideas to the song.

    [Heaven is on the way,
    you could feel the hate
but I guess you never will
    I'm on a roll again,
and I want an end cause I feel you creeping in]
Because of the use of the word heaven, I personally linked it to religious standpoints, where many things collide and refute themselves. There is confusion, and there is hate, and you want to believe, but you can't bring yourself towards submission.
    It's not you.
You aren't the one that is wrong. And they shouldn't be trying to change you.
And it gets to the point were you just want to escape the mess, both physically and symbolically.

[What I've found in this town
    I'm heading for a breakdown
What's that sound? You're so loud.
    I'm heading for a breakdown]
Moving into a new environment can bring looks your way from people that see you as different. And you may only find hurt and rejection from your surroundings.
Being alone and ignored is such a horrible, horrible experience. It caused depression and tremedous anxiety problems. You may find yourself on the brink of an internal disaster. A breakdown.

    [Drank up all my alcohol
this is not a free for all
    I'll be here for you
Till my heart is black and blue]
Alcohol and other substances are often used and abused to numb out hurtful sensations. And all he wants is to be accepted.

He doesn't want to change for anyone. He doesn't want to fit in.
    He just wants acceptance.

But music, especially great music, finds a place in a person's heart, and you feel so strongly related to it.
It becomes a puzzle piece, and it too can warm you, and accompany you.
Great music finds different, vivid meanings in different people. And vise-versa.
