We were drunk and carsick
When we rolled into town
Pulling up to the drive-in
There was no one around

When the lights unfolded from the sky
We were the only ones to be found
They were soaring through the sky
We were left on the ground

Sitting in the living room
The dog is catching caramel corn
I never wanted a change
Brushing teeth and combing hair
I guess they do this everywhere

I think it's time for a change
I never wanted a change
I guess it's time for a change

General Comment:I think that the first part is about some teenagers on a road trip and they stop and see the northern lights. Then they grow up and have an adult's dailyl ife and think "I guess this is it. They do this everywhere." Some of them remember one beautiful moment watching the northern lights and wish they could stay there forever and not grow up. But then the last line says "Well, maybe it's time to grow up after all."

General Comment:Dude, I don't really like this song. Haha, don't get me wrong! I love Murder By Death, even after Who Will Survive... but this song seriously makes me feel kind of sick. I like it up until the vocals come... I don't like the weird effect.

General Comment:i ultimately love them to death.. haha

i love the whole alien abducting meaning.
i think it also has to do with growing up.
getting used to an adult's daily routine,
'i guess they do this everywhere'.
but you have to grow up and change your childish ways.
    idk, that's what i think.

General Comment:When i saw them in Chicago at the Metro, before they played this song he said "Here's a song about being abducted by Aliens".
That may not be verbatim. Anyway, it makes sense.
I just wonder what the change part is about?
Almost seems like an alien getting acclimated to normal human life.

General Comment:I'm guessing you're at least close.
Maybe it's a little more metaphorical than that, like maybe the universe just sending you were you belong.
It seems different, but it fits.

General Comment:this song is beautiful. I'm lucky enough to have gotten to see it played in a church. that was amazing. the acoustics were so great the cello carried so much and adams voice too. he didn't even need a microphone.

General Comment:I agree, i heard this song live, and i've got to say. It was freakin' amazing. Luckily i heard they're coming back to my town (They were last here in August) and i just about shat myself.
Apparently yelling "Fuck yeah!" when you hear the news on a phone call in the middle of a crowded mall is a no...
    whoops.
