Lyrics for Blind as interpreted by lost business

Blind Lyrics
I seen a girl
With a guy
With hair like yours
From what I remember

He took her hand
And smiled her name
Her face like yours
She smiled the same

From what I remember
Been so long since last December
She walked your walk
She talked like you

She shimmered strong
She shined right through
From what I remember
I said I seen a girl

With a guy
So who I'd seen
So who am I
Now I can't remember

Been so long since last December
So I'm sending
Up the ladder
To the perfect doorfront

I'm still mighty tiny
Hoping that you'd be my little godsend
Because right now I'll take any and blindly
Before I find another noose to fit us

Before we choose another hand to hit us
Let us ask each other
What's the difference
Because if you save yourself

I'll save you all the time
Open letter to the ligeance leering
Ah, we entertained you
Why don't you cast your gaze into the moonlight clearly

Cause my love, my love is a suckerbat
Before I find another noose to fit us
Before we choose another hand to hit us
Let us ask each other

What's the problem
Why don't you save yourself
I'll save you all the time
Because if you save yourself

I'll save you all the time
Now what's to blame
Save yourself, I'll save you all the time
Now what's to blame

Save yourself, I'll save you all the time (x2)

I also believe that he says "Are we entertained yet" not "Ah, we entertained you".

hey i was wondering about what you guys thought about the meaning.

he says "save yourself i'll save you all the time" now does he mean that if she save herself then he'll save her all the time or does it mean if she save herself it'll save her time from having him save her?

im leaning toward the latter.

Yeah, a lot of these lyrics are wrong, but whatever. This song is fantastic nevertheless.

I feel nostalgic when I listen to it. God it's great, haha.

I don't understand the second half all that well. It seems that in the first half ,he sees a girl and he thinks she is from his past but isn't certain. It's pretty cool as I think everyone has at some point stared at someone and asked "is that who I thiink it is?"

The lyric is definitely "Cause my love, my love is a sucker bet."

A sucker bet is a bet where the odds of winning are significantly and clearly worse than the payout, such as his love in this case.

So uh, suck on that.

Ok, I've checked just about every lyric site I could find and they all have the same lyrics. Now either we few who attest that these are not right are wrong or the entire lyrics internet database is wrong. Something is fucked here.

I'm hearing:
"So I'm sending an open letter to the perfect girlfriend"
"before WE find another noose to fit us" (both times)
"open letter to the legions leering"
"are we entertained yet?"
"gaze into the moonlit clearing"
and then
"My LIFE, my LIFE is a sucker bet"
and it's definitely not "sycophant", although that would be cool.

beautiful song.

Generally agreeing with the comment corrections...

I take the first part as the speaker thinking to himself, 'yours' being the memory of an ex-lover. She's not there to listen, but the memory of her is still so powerful that he, not only addresses it as if she could hear, but frames new experiences, new people, in the context of her memory. Even gone, she's more important to him than most of the people around him.

as to the later part, I hear an implied or whispered '[If you] save yourself I'll save you all the time,' a subtle acknowledgement that, whatever role the lovers feel they are playing, they are in some inescapable way alone and separate. It has a similar theme, in a sorrowful mood, to the exultation of Poppy on Desperate Youth.

It is powerful, and reminds me of someone I still know, and someone I used to.

I agree with ahab3 completely, but am not hearing "Now what's to blame" ,rather "....... BLIND". "I once stood BLIND". I don't think that's right, but pretty sure it's not "Now what's to blame".

I'm quite sure that what is repeated at the end of the song (instead of "now what's to blame") is "I was struck blind."

As for the song's meaning, I believe it has to do with hindsight, specifically in regards to a failed relationship. The song is a reflection on what once was (the memories of which are now so faded, as indicated by the opening lyrics, that the image of being together now seems foreign, like a vision of two strangers who merely resemble themselves), as well as what went wrong (as indicated by the metaphors of finding nooses with which to hang themselves and choosing hands with which to hit themselves).

And lastly, many of the lyrics - those about being struck blind, about saving themselves and each other, and those about pausing to ask what's the problem before continuing in their destructive ways - they all imply a sort of regret and a longing wish to have been able to see back in the relationship what one is only able to see afterward, in hindsight, when it's already too late. They seem to suggest to me the realization that there were clear warning signs of the relationship's imminent destruction which were ignored at the time, and which haunt the mind with the futile desire to go back in time with the knowledge one has after the relationship's collapse so that one might have only heeded those warnings and prevented it.

Tragic shit, and still one of their best songs.

I never thought I'd say this, but I agree with Hitler. Wow, that sounds bizarre! The fading memories are replaced with a blur as he tries to fill in the blanks he gets frustrated. He also seems surprised to recognize those self destructive tendencies and how she has impacted the rest of life, blinded him to new possibilities, perhaps?
