Lyrics for Sarah Yellin' as interpreted by jebus81

Sarah Yellin' Lyrics
She says, I've got something to say
She knows, That what she says well change everything
Shes laid, Through to many sleepless nights
She's cryin, She's cryin, She's cryin

Mother, That man took my soul away
Father, How could you ever treat me this way
Brother, Don't ever let him do this again
This time it's over I'm gonna make it end
Now it's over, And the old man is dead
Lyin on the ground, Bullet in his head

She stood, At the foot of the guilty bed last night
She held, What would set her free for the rest of her life
She did, All that she said she'd planned to do
She's through, she's through, she's through, yeah

Mother, That man took my soul away
Father, How could you ever treat me this way
Brother, Don't ever let him do this again
This time it's over I'm gonna make it end
Now it's over, And the old man is dead
Lyin on the ground, Bullet in his head

There's a bullet in your head
I kept fallin down, Look who's falling now
I kept cryin out, Look who's crying now
I kept fallin down, Look who's falling now
On me, On me, On me, On me...

Now it's over, This is what she said
He's lyin on the ground, Bullet in his head

This is a really deep song. When it finally clicked & I really heard the lyrics I played it like five times in a row. My father was like Sarah's, but I never got to shoot him. (I just don't speak to my parents for years at a time because I can't deal with the BS.)

Quite self explanatory if you think into it a little bit, there shouldn't be any confusing at all. About a girl who has a very abusive father and he beats her and everything, and it really hurts her and everything, so one day she decides she is sick of it all and shoots her father...
That simple, very emotional idea for a song...
I hate the abuser types.....-_-' Thank god I'm not one, This song is pretty cool though, not 3 doors down best, but not their worst...

Actually, I think the song implies sexual abuse as well, hence the line "she stood at the foot of the guilty bed last night"

i agree with nineinchdoorsdown. "that man took my soul away" always implies sexual abuse, too. this is a very powerful song. 3 doors down deserves a lot of respect. this song really gets into the rage a girl can feel in a situation like this.

This song is one of my favourites. I work for Social Services and know of so many girls (and, indeed, guys) who would love the opportunity to shoot the perpetrator of their abuse.
I really love the line "she's through, she's through, she's through"
This is a really powerful song. It's also really good to sing.

I've always thought this song told the same story as Aerosmith's Jainie's Got a Gun.

The two are both about girls who were abused by their fathers (I've always assumed there was a sexual connotation in addition to other abuses), got a gun, and took matters into their own hands because no one helped them.

I tried that once... but it was with a knife, not a gun.
I didn't have the guts though because I figured if I did it, he'd be dead so they wouldn't be able to put him in jail and I'd go to jail because I killed him.
I have too much to live for (like everyday boreDUMB and my boyfriend)

This song is about Sexual abuse by a father, i was watching Law & Order SVU when it clicked.

shes yellin at the mother just to tell her what her husband is.

yelling at the father for obvious reasons.

and pleading with the brother to protect her.

and yeah she kills him.

This is a good song, it's about a girl whose father sexually abuses her and she wants to know why her family lets it happen and in the end she shoots him and breaks down in tears because it's finally over

The Drummers Angel:

I did the same thing, I had a plan all set but I never went through with it. It's sick how many people this has happened to.
