Somewhere beyond happiness and sadness
I need to calculate
What creates my own madness
And I'm addicted to your punishment
And you're the master
And I am waiting for disaster

[Chorus]
I feel irrational
So confrontational
To tell the truth I am
Getting away with murder
It isn't possible
To never tell the truth
But the reality is I'm getting away with murder

I drink my drink and I don't even want to
I think my thoughts when I don't even need to
I never look back 'cause I don't even want to
And I don't need to
Because I'm getting away with murder

[Chorus]

Somewhere beyond happiness and sadness
I need to calculate
What creates my own madness
And I'm addicted to your punishment
And you're the master
And I am craving this disaster

[Chorus: x2]

General Comment:I find it a struggle between him and the goverment. Not bush, just a goverment like figure in general. The goverement is his master, he doesn't need to think because of them. He's probably done criminal things for his benifits and has become 'addicted' to their punishment. With his struggles he's gone insane and is on some disaster collision with himself mentally and emotionally. And I suppose whatever 'criminal' act he's doing now he's getting away with it .

General Comment:Sounds like it's related to goverment in a way. Everyone has their own views I suppose.

A person in related to the 'system' or goverment possibly suffering from the system (Who wouldn't go insane because of them?). He doesn't need to think because the goverment always thinks for America , making final desicion. We're punished by the system when we do wrong, and the upper hands of the political world are our actual masters (As much as we say f*ck them). Waiting for whatever disaster (Natural disaster? Crime? Terrorism I dunno..) I'm guessing the guy is so upset with the goverment and is mad. He's going to do some terrible things for his own benifit or revenge possibly and get away with it this time (I'm guessing he does criminal acts often enough that he's addicted to the punishment). I'm probably completely wrong. Just a guy struggling within himself and the world around him, putting all his hate to whatever has control over him and his home.

Lyric Correction:I made some minor corrections to the lyrics with better punctuation and a couple other changes.

    Somewhere beyond happiness and sadness
I need to calculate what creates my own madness
And I'm addicted to your punishment
And you’re the master and I am waiting for disaster

    I feel irrational, so confrontational
To tell the truth again, I'm getting away with murder
It isn’t possible to never tell the truth
But the reality is I'm getting away with murder

Getting Away, Getting Away, Getting Away

I take my drink and I don’t even want to
I think my thoughts when I don’t even need to
I never look back 'cause I don’t even want to
And I don’t need to because I'm getting away with murder

    I feel irrational, so confrontational
To tell the truth again, I'm getting away with murder
It isn’t possible to never tell the truth
But the reality is I'm getting away with murder

Getting Away, Getting Away, Getting Away, Getting Away
Getting Away, Getting Away, Getting Away, Getting Away
    Getting Away with murder

    Somewhere beyond happiness and sadness
I need to calculate what creates my own madness
And I'm addicted to your punishment
And you’re the master and I am craving this disaster

    I feel irrational, so confrontational
To tell the truth again, I'm getting away with murder
It isn’t possible to never tell the truth
But the reality is I'm getting away with murder

Getting Away, Getting Away, Getting Away

    I feel irrational, so confrontational
To tell the truth again, I'm getting away with murder
It isn’t possible to never tell the truth
But the reality is I'm getting away with murder

General Comment:I have to laugh at those criticizing this song for it's political conotations. The last time I checked, most people write music for SELF EXPRESSION. A lot of bands have opinions on things and some of them are very important messages. Soul Asylum's Runaway Train, Skillet's Looking for Angels, and even Papa Roach's own Lifeline are all social commentary. Personally, I like that Jacoby has an opinion and a voice. It shows he's got some intelligence. It's refreshing after some of the mindless drivel that's on the air waves these days.

My Interpretation:To ME? It seems to be talking about manipulation, possibly a SadoMaso relationship.

It's almost that he's manipulating someone into thinking that they're in control, making them think that they're his 'master' when they aren't, and he's leading them to their death, or at the very least an extremely unpleasant fate.

The first verse 'I need to calculate what creates my own madness, and I'm addicted to your punishment' would make it seem that he is only the submissive, the 'used' in this relationship. But other parts of the song contradicts that.

'It isn’t possible to never tell the truth, But the reality is I'm getting away with murder'

He's lying up and down, luring the person into a trap with his lies.

This was an interesting verse to me.

'I take my drink and I don’t even want to
I think my thoughts when I don’t even need to
I never look back cos I don’t even want to
And I don’t need to because I'm getting away with murder'

He's doing all these things, he doesn't want to do them, but he's doing it to continue the illusion that he isn't the one in control. I have been in a relationship somewhat like this, manipulating the person into thinking they're in control, when they aren't. The person I was back in those days would be proud to know someone else knew how she felt.

    Fascinating song.

General Comment:I think it's ridiculous when people come on here and critizise the lyrics of the song! This is what someone is feeling! I mean honestly, if you didn't like the song or the lyrics why would you come on here? and then on top of if leave a comment? when everyone else comes on here because they like the lyrics.
