Lyrics for Thank You For The Venom as interpreted by Brandnizzle2k4

Thank You For The Venom Lyrics
Sister, I'm not much a poet, but a criminal
And you never had a chance
Love it, or leave it, you can't understand
A pretty face, but you do so carry on,
and on,
and on

I wouldn't front the scene if you paid me
I'm just the way that the doctor made me, on,
and on,
and on,
and on
Love is the red of the rose on your coffin door
What's life like, bleeding on the floor,
the floor,
the floor

You'll never make me leave
I wear this on my sleeve
Give me a reason to believe

[Chorus]
So give me all you poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
And make me ill
You're running after something
That you'll never kill
If this is what you want
Then fire at will

Preach all you want but who's gonna save me?
I keep a gun on the book you gave me, hallelujah, lock and load
Black is the kiss, the touch of the serpeant son
It ain't the mark or the scar that makes you run,
and run,
and run,
and run

You'll never make me leave
I wear this on my sleeve
Give me a reason to believe

[Chorus]
So give me all your poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
And make me ill
You're running after something
That you'll never kill
If this is what you want
Then fire at will

You'll never make me leave
I wear this on my sleeve
You wanna follow something
Give me a better cause to lead
Just give me what I need
Give me a reason to believe

[Chorus x2]

So give me all your poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
And make me ill
You're running after something
That you'll never kill
If this is what you want
Then fire at will

Lyrics are wrong: "I keep a gun on the BOOK you gave me"

"It ain't the mark or the scar that makes you one"

if someone's gonna say something, how about talk about the song, as opposed to your liking to it.

this song means stuff to me, cause all i seem to do is make other people sad. i can't be happy for one day...one day at all. there was a girl, as always, but things are "over". and i can't talk to anyone...at all. either they get mad at me, or tell me to cheer the f*** up. that helps...for nothing. i can't go on. who would come to my funeral? who would care? "...give me all your poison, and give me all your pills..." all that's missing is the place.

i need to get away...

its about a one of those people that come to your house and try to convert you to a religion. he keeps calling her sister like shes a nun. "i wouldnt front the scene if u made me" fronting that he cares and is understanding and telling her that she (and her organization) are running after something that theyll never kill, theyll never kill evil or convert eveyone to christianity. "black is the kiss the touch of the serpants son its not the mark or the scar that makes you one" saying to the nun that the way he looks has nothing to do with him being evil and the realy obvious part that hes talking to a missionary is when he says "GIVE ME A REASON TO BELIEVE" and "DISH ALL YOU WANT BUT WHO'S GUNNA SAVE ME" the book she gave him was a bible cuz u no nuns hand out bibles. "u wanna follow something just give me a better cause to lead" this songs about religion

I heard this song is related to Stright edge dont know if its true cuz i dont know alot about that but it makes sense that the song would be about that:

"You'll never make me leave
I wear this on my sleeve
Give me a reason to believe

So give me all you poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
And make me ill
You're running after something
That you'll never kill
If this is what you want
Then fire at will"

just my thoughts.

Hmm.. MCR doesn't really strike me as a straight edge kind of band o_O Maybe I'm wrong though.

The whole 1000 souls thing is this: certain songs on this CD are telling the story of a man who was killed in a gunfight. He finds himself in hell and the devil tells him that his girlfriend (also in the fight) is still alive, and that if the man brings the devil 1000 souls of evil men that he'll find his girlfriend again. Something like that. So basically Mr. Dude has to go kill people. And stuff.

lara_c -- Oooh, now it all makes sense. That just makes me love this song even more..

I can see how some of the verses have to do with the mainstream thing.. but it does seem that some of them are about religion =\ Maybe it's a mix?

Well, I look at it this way. In the first verse, it would seem that he is saying to this girl (Sister), to give me all the pain and suffering you have. In the lines:
-"A pretty face, but you do so carry on" and
-"What's life like, bleeding on the floor"
leading into the main chorus, tells me that he cares for her so much that he will bear the weight of her burdens for her so she may be happy. In the second verse, in a different view from Lara c's assement, I see him saying that, he suffers to, but is willing to take on more for her. I can see where religion plays in, but I say, she is possibly the religious type were as he isn't. And, all though she has most likely tried turning to God for salvation, there is no answer as she sees it. Where it says:
-"I keep a gun on the book you gave me"
tells me she wanted to help him with his troubles by offering God, but he leaves it collecting dust with his other means of "salvation" he could potentially use(the gun). In the line:
-"Black is the kiss the touch of a serpent son. It ain't the mark or the scar that makes you one" relates to me as the wanting to die (death = the serpent) and an atempted sucide (the mark and scar) to realy try and reach God, if you get what I'm saying. Finally, the parts before the chorus:
-"You'll never make me leave
I wear this on my sleeve
You wanna follow something
Give me a better cause to lead
Just give me what I need
Give me a reason to believe "
is him telling her that he, unlike her God, will never leave her and he as well needs her to keep going.
This is just my opinion, hope you like it.

Senoir Paco, i agree with everything you just said. To me it feels like he's willing to carry the pain on the one he loves. ( I wish he were mine, so he could carry all my effin pain...) And i also think it relates to suicide attempts and he is madly in love with her.

Anyway, I think this song is amazing.

I kind of get the feeling that this is the story of a guy who is in love with this girl, but he's such the opposite of what she wants (possibly religiously) that he'll never stand a chance. With that in mind, the first verse should make sense.

"I wouldn't front the scene if you paid me
I'm just the way that the doctor made me,"
Here he's saying he wouldn't change who he is (religiously? maybe), he's just an "outcast" at heart.

"Love is the red of the rose on your coffin door
What's life like, bleeding on the floor?"
Ah, this first line is my favorite in the whole song (I'm currently painting it on my wall in a mural). One thing though, the words are "Love is the red the rose..." Maybe right here is the point of the story where he kills the girl he can't have because she just won't accept that he's not going to be what she wants him to be.

"Gimme all your poison, and gimme all your pills. Gimme all your hopeless hearts and make me ill. You're running after something that you'll never kill."
Okay, let's say the words "poison" and "pills" are being used medically, not as things used to kill someone. He's saying for them to give him all the cures, everything they've got, but they're never going to kill this "disease" he's got.

"Black is the kiss the touch of the serpent son. It ain't the mark or the scar that makes you one."
Okay, we know that Lucifer (the serpent) was the fallen archangel, also a son of God. He's saying that just because he might be different from them, a sinner touched (or kissed) by Satan, that doesn't make him a demon (or just evil) as well.

"If this is what you want, then fire at will."
I guess this simply says, "Try if you must."

I don't know, just a random thought or two. Makes sense to me though.

"You're running after something that you'll never kill" ... sums up life in general. People are so lazy these days. And i include myself on that...
