I hate it when you people talk like you know shit about the band.
"Yeah this song is about Gerard and Mickey's grandma dying" etc etc...
Fuck just fucking dont word it like that. It makes you out to be a pretensious cunt who only found that out cause he/she heard it on fucking MTV or some gay-ass rock magazine.
This is a good song and the music video is very decent... I doubt the video is about his grandma seeing as though she looks younger than the Michael Jackson-wannabe.

this song is one of the best out of MCR's both albums Three Cheers and Bullets. One thing confuses me though, when Helena wakes up to dance one more time in the video, are lyrics, "Can we pretend to leave again and meet again, when both our cars collide"
*OR*
on some other lyrics site it's "Do we deserve to leave the earth, do we learn? when both our cars collide"
If you listen carefully to that part and you sing along it kind of sounds like both . . .

well, gerard said the song's about their late grandma. it contains lyrics lyk "things are better if i stay.." cozz they're on tour when she passed away and it kinda disappoint them. but for the whole song it really kicks ass!! it's soo honest and i always sing it everytime i wanna cry or angry or going crazy!! it's soo cool.

Everytime I hear this song I get goosebumps. The video is perfect for the whole "feel" of the song and the girl in it is really pretty who is it? It was probably already posted but I'm not gonna read all 9 pages! Love the song... It's sang with so much emotion, I don't know why I am writing this but my retarded friend thought that the beginning of it where he whispers "died to get in again" said "cappachino" OMG

This song is a beautiful combination of death, and music... Although the song is some-what sad/emotional (which is easy to relate to, seeing if you've ever lost a loved one), it does have a great "feel", and the music video is captivating.. overall the whole entire song is a rival for anything at the top! However, i dont like that its so popular lately, i mean its starting to be played quite frequently on MTV, and a lot of young teens who watch MTV are starting to like it. In my opinion you should like a song, not because its on MTV, but because you actually like it, the lyrics, the music, and the entire escance of it... if this is how you feel about Helena then GREAT!

man this is a very confusing song..at least this must be something about somebody named helena. i don't know if it was an expression when the cars collide..but maybe it was as car accident..for bad karma for breaking hearts? i don't know lol.

havent really given MCR a chance till now

up late flipping through channels and i come across this video on MTV and i start to cry, this song reminds me too much of my mom who died 6 years ago, and it was written about a grandmom? .. cool. i will say this song is amazing for a band that i thought i hated.

I LOVE THIS SONG! its got an excellent beat to it and it just makes you feel like rockin'! Very intriguing clip video with very interesting choreography. I love it. Hope they win something at the VMAs!

My Chemical Romance sucks hard. However, this song is decent enough to attract me. I blame it on the video because the singer makes the BEST sad faces and he's pretty cute in make-up. Same with the pretty girl. ..Aside from that, I find it hard to beleive that this is about his grandmother. The girl in the video is his age which leads me to think it's his dead girlfriend/friend. ..and it also sounds like she pulled that famous emo-suicide. "we are the very hurt you sold" & "like a blade you stain" yeasurefine. it could be FOR his grandma? but definatly not ABOUT her.

ok i know for sure what its about, i hurd it form an interveiw with gerard way (lead singer in case ur an idiot) the song is a angery hate letter to himself after his grandmother died. hes mad at himself b/c he couldnt be there for her b/c he was on tour.. gerard used to hav problems with hurting him self "the blade you stained" means the blade he, himself cut himself with. its really a sad song. what i thought was rly sad was at the VMA's the band played helena and towards the end of the song he screamed "this one's for you grandma". he and his grandma were rly closer as i hear. he taught him how to sing and perform and draw and she bought the band thier tour bus.
y the girl in the coffin the the music vid is so young i dont kno.... i think its beacuse it wouldnt be as attractive if a older lady was there. u hurd lots of directors for the vid were insulting the song and the vid alot so maybe he gave in to what they said and put a younger girl in the coffin--- this song rock moor thn ne thing so thats all i hav to say, "so long and goodnight"

yes its about his grandmother but gerard (main lyricist and lead vocals) also mentioned in an interview that its a self-hate letter as well.
"burning on just like the match you strike to incinerate the lives of everyone you know" that could be something he wrote about himself rather than his late grandmother. if so thats one of the most incredibly honest things anyone could admit to--awfully depressing he thinks that, but its so real.

yes helena was written for gerard's (and mikey's) late grandmother but gerard mentioned in an interview that its a self-hate letter to himself as well.
"burning on just like the match you strike to incinerate the lives of everyone you know" that line is my favorite. if hes talking about himself (which is the impression i got) thats an incredibly honest thing to admit. awfully deressing--but its so real. like the chorus "so long and goodnight" he's admitting there's nothing he can do but say goodbye. then "well meet again when both our cars collide" or he'll see her again when he dies. some of the lines come so direct and forward from his(gerard- he writes the songs) heart. ah gosh i luv him
