'It was the November 2003 passing of the Ways' grandmother (the inspiration for Three Cheers' best song Helena) that pushed Gerard to a more dangerous form of escape. "I couldn't deal with her death," he says, "and I took my first Xanax. After that it snowballed. I would get wasted for the show, then need to shut my brain off at night- because my brain is always moving a million miles a minute. The pills allowed me to relax and sleep. But then cocaine came into play, and everything went out of whack." '

I totally recommed getting this issue to read about them. For their photos, its a whole comic book theme, which is pretty funny, and after reading about Gerard's struggles and the band's commitment to him I totally fell in love with My Chem all over again!

there's also an interview somewhere where gerard explains it more. his and mikey's grandmother's name was helen but everyone called her elena, so gerard called her helena. she encouraged him to get into arts and to start a band, and bought them their first van.

this song means alot to me.
recently my grandma died, but i didnt get to find out untill 2 weeks safter she had died. this is such a touching song, i didnt ge tto say goodbye to my grandma. everyone else new but me.
i no where he comes from where he says "so long and goodnight" cuaser theres nothing u can say but that

u cant let go, and it hurts cause u wish they were there,

i think mcr have done an awsome song by theis, and this song really means alot to me.you really dont no what uve got untill its gone

well, i have heard that the song is about his grandma but here's what i dont get... "and like the blade you stain, well ive been holding on tonight" when they say "like the blade you stained" i assume they mean they stained with blood b/c they killed themselves, but... normal granny's dont kill themselves.... am i right? whats the story here

and to add to that, in the music vid (wich is fucking sexy!!!) when he sas like the blade you stained, he puts his hand round his throat like this person who died slit thier thoat... but once again, grandma's dont slit thier thoats... they feed thier 27 cats, knit, and watch old tv show that make no sence. is there sumthin else here we are not seeing? your opionions please.

i've listened to this song more than any other song on the album, and i agree with what most of the people think. however, every time i listen to it i get something different from it. one way i see it is like, a guy confronting a lover after she's done something, and that he hasnt given up (And whats the worst to take, from every heart you break (heart you break)And like a blade you stain

and stuff, but thats just one of the many ways i see the song. i agree with the fact that it can mean many things. i bet gerard didnt have half the things in his mind that people think the song is about when he wrote it. never the less, i like how everyone has their own opinions on it.

Holy cow, MCR is one of the all time greatest bands ever. This song is just amazing... It makes me want to cry for them every time I hear it, Gerard just looks so sad in the Video.

OMG... MCR like so totally.... SUCKS

dont get me wrong i do not like the band the used but at least they were original enough to suck on their own... fucking my chemical romance just ripped them off and put more fucking makeup on their lead singer... jesus christ if you are gonna make a shit band then at least be original about it .. the fucking lead singer.. how would any of you know if hes hot he wears more goddamn makeup than i do...

the fucking video to this song reminds me of some kinda gay ass rip off of rocky horror picture show ..

this song and everything about this band are TERRIBLE and whoever gave them a record deal should suffer from some flesh devouring disease

Wowo, this song is really well written. It's the perfect way to say good bye. The video was simply wonderful. The whole theme just fit together perfectly.

I also saw that some people were discussing the meaning of the CD itself, as a whole. The whole CD formed off of this idea: A man and woman who are separated by death in a gun fight. He goes to hell only to discover that the woman is still alive becasue the devil told him so. The devil tells the man that he can be with her once again if he brings him the souls of 1000 human men. The devil gives the man a gun and the man goes to try and complete the mission.

if it does have to do with gerard and mikeys grandma... then is it about her funeral?... i really like this song, and i think that its my absolute fave MCR song... my second fave is im not okay... i have a question, and it might be stupid... but are these guys australian? >>kickass!
