Lyrics for Helena as interpreted by Brandnizzle2k4

Helena Lyrics
Long ago
Just like the hearse you die to get in again
We are so far from you

Burning on just like a match you strike to incinerate
The lives of everyone you know

And what's the worst you take
From every heart you break
And like the blade you stain
Well I've been holding on tonight

What's the worst that I could say
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long and goodnight

Came a time
When every star fall brought you to tears again
We are the very hurt you sold

And what's the worst you take
From every heart you break
And like the blade you stain
Well I've been holding on tonight

What's the worst that I could say
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long and goodnight
And if you carry on this way
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long and goodnight

Can you hear me
Are you near me
Can we pretend to leave and then
We'll meet again
When both our cars collide

What's the worst that I could say
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long and goodnight
And if you carry on this way
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long and goodnight

I'm not sure if anyone said this yet, but in the booklet in the cd it says "This record is dedicated to the memory of Elena Lee Rush and Maria Jose Santos" now i'm not sure about who Maria is, but Elena was obviously their grandma, but the reason why the song is spelled "Elena" is because there was a Saint named "Helena" and i'm assumin gerard and his brother looked up to their grandma as a saint because she was caring, and inspired them to achieve wat they wanted to do, and even helped Gerard with singing.

the reason for calling her helena...in ACTUAL GERARD AND MIKEY TEXT! gerard: her birth name was elena.. mikey:yeah it was! gerard:but everyone seemed to call her helen. mikey: it's true!!
mikey: remember when we were little and people would come over and call her elena and we wondered who they were talking to? gerard: yeah, but that's not why we're saying this!!!! ( slaps mikey in the face, mikey's glasses fall off) mikey:okay gerard:we mixed helen, and elena, she taught us alot and we love her, i miss her alot now, but she will always be my helena. mikey: gerard, that sounded reall sappy to me. gerard: let there be maple syrup!

definatly about gerard and mikey's grandma he said so at the concert. its cool though. i mean for someone to sit down and write a song about their grandma. i mean it makes sense. read the lyrics...death does hurt everyone so the whole heartbreak part of the song is about how the death hurt everyone. its such a powerful song. i love mcr.

I imagine the video had to be pretty tough to film. I mean, the guy's singing a song he wrote about his grandmother, and carries the casket which is supposed to be his grandmother's all the while. Pretty intense.

it DOES rock; i've watched it 23589234789236 times. it's that awesome. but the dead girl makes it hard to remember it's about their grandmother. i love the part where they bring out the coffin; it's just so emotional.

Death is common to us and we can view it in a lot of different ways. Some fear death and therefore fear life. Others see death as a way to celebrate life and a person moving on to a better place. No matter what we think of it it's inevitable for all of us and I'd just wish we could all live together with a little more love for one another instead of this incessant hatred we live with on a daily basis. I don't know what we need... Maybe more people appreciating the arts and something to get them with those people that they care about to learn what's really important to us in life. Before many of us figure it out they are gone until we meet again at St. Peter's gates.

I think its a really awesome song!! You all say it's about his Grandma, well guess what.... Your WRONG!!!! They dedicated it to their Grandma (Elena) but really its not! It's about the suicide of two people and one who went through with it and one that didn't. do you really think he lyrics suit the whole grandma thing?!?!?

drama queen art is there for a person to see what they want to see from it... People can believe whatever they want and can take it to mean whatever they want. It may have been a tribute to their grandmother but that has nothing to do with the meaning of a song to a listener.

Well, I guess i take this song as the artist's disposition to the suicide of a loved one. Of course the pain it conveys is so...suicidal, that when you hear the sound of the song, you feel like ending it all, but i think the song is actually about a type of coping.

ok, maybe not a suicide, but that's just my morbid mind twisting things into a more stereotypical/shallow point of view...actually if the song was about his grandmother's death, that would be.....no less than beautiful..and a little sad.
