i just saw the video/heard the song for the first time, and wow did it totally rock my mind. when they came with "i'm not okay" i liked it in the beginning and it got SO OVERPLAYED!!! now there's this one, and WOW! i love the chorus. gerard just totally got me when he sang it. i dont quite get the video though... it's a funeral...i get that...but the person they're all having a funeral for just gets up and starts dancing?

aw well, who cares. i love this song....

i think this song is about a girl who killed herself. the part where it says "Burning on just like a match you start to incinerate" is about the girl being cremated.And the part where it says "Whats the worst you take from every heart you break?" it's talking about the girl making people deeply upset and saddened by her suicide.

wait a tic...is it ABOUT their grandmother, or was it JUST a dedication to her? Couldnt it just be a dedication but about stuff like...the suicide pact mentioned page 3 of comments? This song doesnt seem to make sense...what would someone be \"carrying on\" about if they were 10 feet under OR cremated??? What would a dead person \"take from every heart [they] break\"??? Without lines like that, I guess you could say that he never wanted to live w/o her, but its better if he does. ??

i always thought that it was to someone called Helena, but in an interview with Kerrang, Gerard said \"i have had a lot of self hate. the most recent example was the song Helena. It\'s a really angry open letter to myself\"

the video is basically a tribute to their grandmother.. a thank you for everything she did and helped them with and everything. but the video isn't about her. it's about a gurl in her young 20's that died a tragic death. and when she gets up and dances through the aisle, it's basically her soul, or spirit awaking, and lifting up to heaven....giving one last dance before she goes

Yes, this song is about the Way's grandmother. Her name was Elena, but Gerard would call her Helen, thus producing Helena as the song's title. It's the best song osejifsojoie ever.

This song has been applied to my relationship with my last girlfriend. It sounds really corny I know but if you really take lyrics for what they are than it makes sense. This song is about his grandmother. I saw them live and he said and I quote "this song is about me and mikey's grandmother." This song is so versatile that it can go any way for anyone. Gerad is a very good lyricist.

one thing i dont understand is if the song is abotu his grandmother ellen, then why does it say "Just like the blade you stain", if i recall right his girlfriend took her own life???? i may be wrong, but just a thought. And on the part of, Burning on just like a match you start to incinerate, The lives of everyone you knew. i dont know the reason his grandmother passed on, but maybe from smoking. or maybe its about the both of them,( his grandmother and his girlfriend)

wow, Three Cheers is absolutely amazing! i can't believe i only discovered this band a couple of days ago. this song is so deep and tragic, but so good.
i think the song's about a girl, not Gerard's grandmother. anyway, its wonderful

I was reading some interviews with Gerard yesterday and he said that he wrote this song kind of about his grandmother but also part of the concept storyline for the album. The video is at the funeral of a girl, which probably has some relation to the song. I love mcr so much! They are touring with taste of chaos but it was sold out when they played near me...tear...rock on!

i agree about the song being about his grandmother and about the girl. also agree with someone who commented earlier about the song being about a suicide pact. makes the most sense i think. the song is probably dedicated to his grandmother, being about death and all, and the song could be like the beginning of the story, since its a concept album. that's probably how the girl in the story dies, and the guy lives on, later making the deal with the devil to kill those evil men to get her back. just what i think anyway

i saw taste of chaps, they were fucking amazing. and i met frank iero there and my mother met gerard outside the hall. he was having a smoke. this song is most definately about his/mikey's grandmother helen way. amazing video, the emtion form gerard is almost orgasmic and he is such a great performer. long live gerard.

this is one of those songs where the verses are super melodic, fast paced, just great and then the chorus sucks. in some cases it can be the other way around...yea...bye
