you say I am loca because I am your girl
you say I am stupid because I am your girl
you leave me out on the steps you dress me up like a
boy
you say that I am your secret love
you say to be quiet but I want to tell the whole world
I like my neighborhood I like my gun
drive in my little car I am your girl and I will protect you
we do it in the back of my little car
pull up my pants and fix my bra go on home to your kids
Im going to be quiet and I'm going to tell the whole
block

My Interpretation:I kind of feel like this song is about a young MtF transsexual in a love affair with a maried man with children. And even though the other man says (s)he's crazy for thinking they're a girl, the speaker still knows what they are, even when they're "dressed up like a boy".

It's a very sad song, like most Xiu Xiu stuff, hehe

Song Meaning:As much as I'd like to agree with everyone about this song being about a pedophile I get the feeling it is more about an actual guerilla girl.
Maybe I'm just wanting it to be about something less noir. It just seems to hint that this is a guerilla girl out in Guatemala and has this relationship with a man she shouldn't thus creating this whole ordeal of secrecy. She likes her neighborhood that is why she joined the guerilla and she likes her gun. Now she'll protect him.

Nonetheless this is a gorgeous piece. I love the line: 'I am your girl, and I will protect you.'

General Comment:umm... by the way loca does not mean homosexual male.... loca=crazy... also i am still mostly convinced that the song says looker although it admittedly could be loca. also i think deny's explaination is the most accurate. also whoever said he says stupida... listen to the song again he clearly says stupid...

General Comment:"Loca" in Spanish means "homosexual man", so perhaps it is about the confused, secret and rather unequal love affair between a married man ("go on home to your kids") and, maybe, a person who is trans, MTF, (something which has been the subject of other Xiu Xiu songs, such as Dr. Troll) but not considered as such by her lover ("you say I'm a [homosexual man], because I am your girl").

General Comment:i wouldn't be shocked if this was about pedophilia, but that's just not the impression i get when i listen to it. to me, it's just about women being used, but also a girl who likes the guy enough to let him, and in an affair.

General Comment:The live performance of this song is amazing on Life and Live.

Especially in the middle of it where there's all the chaos. Jamie does it all with his voice.
