that is just a joke jamie played on people. its not really his cousin. in one promo pick ive seen they are both "naked" in bed. i don't think jamie is really being incestual. its a joke.

the woman who plays all the keyboard insturments with jamie on tour is named Caralee McElroy. i dont know if they're romantically involved, but the person he is writing about is obviously very important to him. so if i had to guess, i would say it was about her.

how would pitchfork media, who jamie has written for in the past by the way, know it is a LOVE SONG not a "i love my cousin" song?

maybe because he let them know.

and why would 5rc, xiu xiu's label, promote the cd by using these references to a LOVE SONG?

"...and then weirdly falling in love very, very,very unexpectedly and beautifully."

i don't think jamie fell, "in love very, very,very unexpectedly and beautifully" WITH HIS COUSIN.

"This record was written on the heels of huge, huge upheavals and violent personal changes and content wise reflects a year of a father's suicide, helpless watching the United States government/army rape and murder with smug disdain for anything but power, being betrayed and then in betraying others, finding out about a favorite 5 years old student being repeatedly molested by his teenage brother and the family due to immigration status and economics not being able to get help or really even stop it and then weirdly falling in love very, very,very unexpectedly and beautifully.

actually he has mentioned caralee being his cousin many times. also he never says he fell very unexpectedly in love with his cousin on little panda mcelroy

You know...I'm new to Xiu Xiu. So, if that woman is actually his cousin, it's not that weird. Maybe he loves her as family? So maybe this woman helped him get through some hard times, and he loves her for that. The way a guy loves his cousin. That's what I get from the song.

many at least some songs are about persons xiu xiu knows more or less. how to think little panda mcelroy is not for but about caralee?
anyway this could be a singular thought.

i dont find it at happines though
i havent met a person who would fall into such words
its more like longing with tears thats what id believe.

Caralee is his cousin, and just because her name is in the title doesn't make the song about her. But way to be intelligent and well versed in global politics, capitalism, and empire!

I think he does love her, like the deep love of a family or friend. Like I might love my brother, but I don't think its meant to be sexual or romantic. But who knows, Xiu Xiu isn't really a conforming band and maybe its something unique.
