Lyrics for It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Fuc... as interpreted by Brandnizzle2k4

It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Fuc... Lyrics
(For what you did to me
and what i'll do to you
you get what everyone else gets
you'll get a lifetime)

Lets Go!

Do you remember back when we met
you told me this gets harder
Well it did
Been holding on forever
promise me that when i'm gone you'll kill my enemies

The damage you've inflicted
temporary wounds
i'm coming back from the dead
and i'll take you home with me
i'm taking back the life you stole

We never got that far
this helps me to think
all through the night
bright lights that
won't kill me now
or tell me how
just you and i
your starless eyes remain

Hip hip hooray for me
you talk to me
but would you kill me in my sleep
lay still like the dead
from the razor to the rosary
we could lose ourselves
and paint these walls
in pitchfork red

I will avenge my ghost
with every breath i take
i'm coming back from the dead
and i'll take you home with me
i'm taking back the life you stole

This hole you put me in
wasn't deep enough
and i'm climbing out right now
you're running out of places
to hide from me

When you go
just know that i will remember you
if living was the hardest part
we'll then one day be together

And in the end we'll fall apart
just as the leaves change in color
and then i will be with you
i will be there one last time now

When you go
just know that i will remember you
i've lost my fear of falling
i will be with you, i will be with you

i never got to even go to a concert and now i'm gonna have to wait until they tour again and its horrible because i really am a good person, don't ask for much, and all i want to do is see them live!
and what makes you a real fan is why you like them, not when you started liking them.

Exactly, as long as you like the music, it's all fine, but if it's the trend you're after, or if it's your lust to one of the band members that got you into their music, then you're poser material for sure.
Thank goodness you two aren't.

i agree with B12. you shouldnt like a band simply because the band members are hot. or cause its a trend...

but as to this song: i personally love it (as every other song in the album) sort of seems like he fell in love with someone (no kidding ) and she betrayed him. but he stil loves her and is willing to be with her, although she betrayed him. he seems to daydream about how him and her get back together (if living was the hardest part we'll then one day be together) .

Dude, I hate fangirls more than life.
I agree with you, people who listen to music because it's a "trend" or because the band members are "hot"...Well let's just say I'd hang those people by thier toenails if I knew where they lived. Kind of embarassing acually...I got into MCR because this one night I was watching TV (for once.) and I saw Gerard on tv...It was love at first sight. So then I checked out the band and fell completly in love with the music. It had so much meaning.

So I don't like to say I'm in love with MCR because they are hot. That isn't true. I'm in love with MCR because the music is amazing. I just DISCOVERED them because he was georgous.

^ Come for the dashing good looks, stay for the lyrics about cutting yourself.

My sort-of interpretation...

I think the song is more or less from the point of view of all the people the guy has murdered.

The beginning talks about how he's going to get a "lifetime" just like everyone else. Generally, murderers get lifetime sentences in prison. This guy might not go to prison, but he will still a lifetime of something. Of what... in my opinion, forever being separated from his lover. This could be supported by the last song, when it talks about what he had done for a living. The lyrics "I tried, I tried, I tried..." alludes to him coming up short somehow. Maybe by not killing enough people, or just not killing the right people (evil souls).

If you read through the lyrics, you can kind of see what I am talking about... as in, they are being sung from a different perspective than the guy. I don't know though. I am supposed to be writing a 3 page textual analysis about this song, but it does not seem to fit so smoothly in with the album as the others do.

Also, he references to "falling" quite a bit throughout the story. I found that interesting. Literally falling? Falling from hope? Falling from what?

Lyrics about cutting myself? MCR has none of that.
And I don't like them as a 'fad' or anything like that. I like them for them.

p.s. - I love the name of this song. ^.^

ps. who cares if anyone's a "real" fan? stop being so fucking pretentious. who cares if MCR has "sold out"? kudos to them for being so successful! isn't that almost everyone's mission in life to be successful? it pisses me off.

Theres a difference to becoming more popular and "sold out". ButNeverOutgunned explained that on a diff song, dont remember which though.

You guys wouldn't recognize sarcasm if it hit you in your figurative faces.

yes, yes, the lyrics are not about cutting yourself, but it doesn't really matter. Their "edgy" lyrics with razorblade and blood imagery is obviously just meant to appeal to suicidal, self-centered preteens so that they will shell out some money for MCR and their record label. They don't have any "real" meaning, and so their meaning cannot be cutting yourself.

Liking MCR for being MCR is worse than liking them as a fad. Instead of just pretending to enjoy listening to horrible music, you actually do enjoy listening to horrible music. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I agree with elicoorII here, the lyrics are meaningless, but at least they use edgy words, hehe.

FackingHell your a fucking idiot.

Everyone thinks Gerard is some depressed emo fucker when he isn't. He lives in my town, & when I do actually see him walking around & not in the road or whatever(which is usually where he at, hes like never home.) he isn't all depressed & shit so watch what the fuck you say, you think all the fucking MCR songs are about fucking slitting wrist cause you said shit like that in Drowning Lessons, just stfu.

This song is a deffently revenge song, possibly friendship, 'back when we met' could have been in school or work or collage, this person showed him a lot of things in life, showing him beyond this world he knew, now knows this whole other thing. He relizes he was fucked over badly, now he wants his revenge & show this person that yeah life did get hard CAUSE OF YOU, now i'm giving it back to you.

This song is saying that he has a friend and they are really close and his friend betrays him and he dies (emotionally or physically). Basically he is coming back to life (or out of a depression state) and he's gonna get revenge and bring his friend down the way his friend did to him. But he seems to love his friend because he wants to be with him but at the same time he has to be punished.

I believe that the song is dedicated to a loved one, with a taste of revenge.
Yes, it sounds like he's commited suicide, but he seems to be angry with his loved one because she made a promise and didn't made it come true.

Mmm... and I have the impression that he's struggling between his love and hate for her. LOVE/HATE.

He wants revenge, but in the end, he loves her. And confesses that he wants to be with her.

When i first heard it it sounded like he was talking about his expeirence with drugs. "Do you remember back when we met you told me this gets harder" Is probably the person that introduced him to drugs. He than talks about the damage that it had done but are now healed, taking back the life the person stole. Then he talks about her 'starless eyes remain' probably indicating that his friend still does drugs. 'This hole you put me in wasn't deep enough' meaning that he overcame his addiction, knowing that his life deserves better.
At the end, it seems like he wants the person to get what they deserved and be punished because of what the friend dragged him into, but still cares about him and whats him to pull through.
