Lyrics for It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Fuc... as interpreted by Brandnizzle2k4

It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Fuc... Lyrics
(For what you did to me
and what i'll do to you
you get what everyone else gets
you'll get a lifetime)

Lets Go!

Do you remember back when we met
you told me this gets harder
Well it did
Been holding on forever
promise me that when i'm gone you'll kill my enemies

The damage you've inflicted
temporary wounds
i'm coming back from the dead
and i'll take you home with me
i'm taking back the life you stole

We never got that far
this helps me to think
all through the night
bright lights that
won't kill me now
or tell me how
just you and i
your starless eyes remain

Hip hip hooray for me
you talk to me
but would you kill me in my sleep
lay still like the dead
from the razor to the rosary
we could lose ourselves
and paint these walls
in pitchfork red

I will avenge my ghost
with every breath i take
i'm coming back from the dead
and i'll take you home with me
i'm taking back the life you stole

This hole you put me in
wasn't deep enough
and i'm climbing out right now
you're running out of places
to hide from me

When you go
just know that i will remember you
if living was the hardest part
we'll then one day be together

And in the end we'll fall apart
just as the leaves change in color
and then i will be with you
i will be there one last time now

When you go
just know that i will remember you
i've lost my fear of falling
i will be with you, i will be with you

wow! so relieved to read the comments on this song withought one mention of how good looking gerard or a certain member is! the bit statring with 'i will avenge my ghost' (i dont have the effort to write it all!) fits in well with the concept of the album. i think its great that evry song is fantastic but all tie in together. im sure that if some bands tried to write a concept album they would find it difficult. they would be too lost in creating a story and forgetting the music sompletely. if that makes any sence....

this is one of my favorites by MCR
the lyrics:

//you get what everyone else gets you'll get a lifetime \\

actually came from a comic book, i think. ish the tiny things i remember from the long interviews from magazines.... lol.

anyways, yeah, MCR rocks... their songs are so original and deep. very good to hear a band that doesnt sound as if all they r worring about is the # of records they will sell. u kno??

this song is like the epicenter of the story.
it all evolves here.

The line :"hip hip hooray"
The Line :"I will avenge my ghost..."

in the cd booklet it says that the cd is partly about "the story of a man, a womna, and the corpses of a thousand evil men" so i agree with the thought of the cd being this long story of a man who lost his woman so he makes this deal with the devil that if he gives the devil the souls of a thousand evil men then he'll get his girl back. so this song i think is partly about the side of the man trying to kill another man and also about the side of the man getting killed.

the verse "The damage you've inflicted temporary wounds. i'm coming back from the dead. and i'll take you home with me. i'm taking back the life you stole" is about the guy about to get killed. hes saying to the killer that im gonna come back from the dead and take back the life you stole.

meanwhile the killer is thinking about his lost girl "And in the end we'll fall apart just as the leaves change in color and then i will be with you i will be there one last time now. When you go just know that i will remember you i've lost my fear of falling i will be with you, i will be with you" all he is mainly thinking about is getting back together with the girl but then he is also bothered about the idea that he has been killing people so he says "promise me that when i'm gone you'll kill my enemies" enemies being the people who are pissed that he killed all those men

and meanwhile the dead guy is pissed and wants to get revenge saying "This hole you put me in wasn't deep enough and i'm climbing out right now you're running out of places to hide from me" saying that the grave he was put into was not deep enough so his soul is climbing out to get back at the killer.

its a very deep song with a lot of meanings but its pretty intense. gerard must have put a lot of thought into those lyrics.

gerard...........:] sigh

I think this song is about taking a hard road to travel, like being different from the crowd or being bisexual or whatever. It's about being hurt and gradually healing over time.

Do you remember back when we met
you told me this gets harder
Well it did

He started living his life a certain way and talked with someone about it and was told that it was a hard road to travel.

The damage you've inflicted
temporary wounds
i'm coming back from the dead
and i'll take you home with me
i'm taking back the life you stole

Emotional death. I'm thinking that because of the way he's chosen to live, he's been abandoned/betrayed by people who are close to him. But he starts to heal enough to want revenge on the people that made his life so miserable.

Hip hip hooray for me
you talk to me
but would you kill me in my sleep

The continuing pain and paranoia. Perhaps this friend is starting to come around. Maybe it's just about people in general. But he's afraid to be hurt again and he thinks that everyone who tries to befriend him is going to backstab him.

This hole you put me in
wasn't deep enough
and i'm climbing out right now
you're running out of places
to hide from me

People tried to ruin his life and figuratively bury him alive, but they didn't completely break him down and now he's going to ruin their lives like he ruined theirs.

When you go
just know that i will remember you
if living was the hardest part
we'll then one day be together
And in the end we'll fall apart
just as the leaves change in color
and then i will be with you
i will be there one last time now
When you go
just know that i will remember you
i've lost my fear of falling
i will be with you, i will be with you

I've taken this as either "When you go" as in when you're compeletly destroyed (talking about revenge), or "When you go" talking about the people who he's now getting to know and how he knows that they'll leave him eventually, but he's going to try and trust again because he's not as afraid anymore. That's just how I see it. I'm probably wrong. Oh well.

Also, I'd like to add that you can take this post as part of the story line with the man woman and corpses, but I am really pressed to believe that it's more about himself than about the story and that he made it work for both.

This song is literally orgasmic. I love it, its the song that hits me the most like Demolition lovers did on the first album and Cemetry Drive on Three Cheers.
To me, its a man thinking about how much he loved someone, but how they just kept betraying his love and playing with him, killing him.
But at the end he goes back to loving her.
It's just beautiful and so well made.
Like a good pie.

well i heard the song many times and its awesome, but after reading the lyrics very carefully y came to a kind of a weird conclusion.....according to story the man and the woman were both killed in the gunfight.....well in this song he talks about meeting the killer and how things would get harder....it also asks the killer to kill his enemies, knid of weird dont u think?....hes coming back because the damage wasnt that bad and his gonna get back the lives the killer stole....they never got that far, maybe he never got that far with his gf and the starless eyes is like saying "theres nothing left for u here and u know it".....he wants people to celebrate what hes done, but what has he done?....hes coming back from the death, the man looking for the 1000 evil men to get his girl back....now hes gonna get back the lives the killer stole.....however he says "this hole u put me in wasnt deep enough", maybe the killer is the sajme one that killed him and his girl....he asks now the killer to remember him...and theyll dance again, and love again, "if living was the hardest part well then one day be together", he wants to be with killer?....well wut i thought is: the reason he didnt find the girl in hell is because she didnt die, the devil knew this and so he decided to trick the guy to make him kill a 1000 men, so during one of his killings he remembers he asked thegirl not to turn around if he was to die (Hang'em high) so did she do as he told her???....then during one of his killings he finds out who was the real killer: his girlfriend!....thats why she wasnt in hell and why theyll meet again, hell go back to hell and she is going that way for wut she has done so he will "be there one last time", hes lost his fear of falling that he had when he found out wut the girl had done and that he forgives her and still loves her and that hell se her again in hell...
i know....kind of zweird, but then again they never said what was the ending of the story....i also thought that "i never told you what i do for a living" might be the first song when he tells her what he does for a living, and in "hang'em high" she decides to help him, but eventually fids out she cant keep on going and kills him, and then she becomes a massive killer because her head is all messed up....so she kills all the people in "to the end" and the other songs.....well thats wut i thought...

I totally agree with 'omgwtf', but ive got a little bit else to add...
"for what you did to me...you get what everyone else gets, you get a lifetime"-the first time I heard this I immediantly thought of the 'plastic girls' at school and how they put everyone else down and seem like they are 'better' than everyone else, but when its their time to get judged (apocolyps if you will), they are brought down to the same level as everyone else.
"The dammage youve inflicted, temporary wounds"- also shows how they put people down and scar them, but these wounds wont last forever...
I still think this song ties in with the albums concept tho

You're right, dIeInG4yOoH!. "you get what everyone else gets /
you get a lifetime" is from a comic book. In Neil Gaiman's Sandman, as Death leads away a literally centuries-old man, he asks her about how he did:

BERNIE: But I did okay, didn't I?
I mean, I got, what, fifteen thousand years. That's pretty good. Isn't it? I lived a pretty long time.

DEATH: You lived what anybody gets, Bernie. You got a lifetime.
No more. No less.
You got a lifetime.

(Neil Gaiman, Sandman: Brief Lives, Chapter 3, p. 5)
