Lyrics for Jack The Ripper as interpreted by Brandnizzle2k4

Jack The Ripper Lyrics
Oh, you look so tired
Mouth slack and wide
Ill-housed and ill-advised
Your face is as mean
As your life has been

Crash into my arms
I WANT YOU
You don't agree -
But you don't refuse
I know you

And I know a place
Where no one is likely to pass
Oh, you don't care if it's late
And you don't care if you're lost
And oh, you look so tired
(But tonight you presume too much)
Too much, too much
And if it's the last
Thing I ever do
I'M GONNA GET YOU

Crash into my arms
I WANT YOU
You don't agree -
But you don't refuse
I know you

Crash into my arms
I WANT YOU
You don't agree -
But you don't refuse
I know you
Oh ...

Yupsedoodle.

I agree with everyone. Jack the Ripper, boy-girl relationship...yeah.

Anyway, this song is awesome. How does he scream like that? Can only guys do that or can girls do that too? I don't get how to SCREAM LIKE THAT! AHHH!!!!

That's why when I sing it, it sounds like a stupid love song.

HAHA. It's like I'm telling my life story, now.

Okay, this sucks. AFI does it so much better. I'd even dare to claim that the AFI cover is better than the original one.

And janejetsetter, I think you're wrong. Like slammed234 said, it's definitely about Jack The Ripper. Listen to the goddamn lyrics. It's obvious.

Although I don't care much for Morissey (never heard any of his material so...) I think this song is soooo amazing. I actually kind of see it as a love song, although it's obviously darker than just that. "Crash into, oh, my fucking arms! I WANT YOU!!" I just love how that line is screamed.

THE MORRISEY VERSION IS SO MUCH BETTER. THIS IS SHOUTING AND CRAP FROM SOME SELL-OUT FAGGOTS. NOBODY LIKES INCEST.

By the way, the song itself has nothing to do with Jack the Ripper, I would wager. It's probably a hint as to how Morrissey feels about himself after tempting the person.

The person that Morrissey is referring to (and it is most likely a he rather than a she) doesn't want to get involved with him. This person is so bothered by their own problems that they really don't want to take care of anyone else.

Morrissey tempts them. He wants this person so badly for themselves and does not take their feelings into consideration, only to walk right into a situation where his heart would be broken. This person seems torn about the situation because while they might have feelings for Morrissey, they honestly don't want to. Morrissey seems to take advantage of the situation and tempts them sexually. The person thinks it's wrong because they don't want to get involved with someone they're not with, but they don't refuse because Morrissey hands them easy sex on a plate.

...Yes. I try to actually analyze Morrissey's songs.

Lewis Carrol was accused of being Jack the Ripper? That's awesome.

Anyways, I absolutely love this song, and when I found out that it was actually a Morrisey cover I fell in love with it all over again. It is crazy good, and I wish that they still played it, because I would absolutely love to see it live.

This song is obviously about Jack the Ripper, but every time I listen to it it makes me thing it's just about rape.

Mainly the chorus, but maybe that;s just because it sounds so angry.

Love it, love it, love it.

And remember, you cannot rape the willing.

This is about Jack the Ripper. If you're not familar with him, He was a killer in London "I belive" who killed women. He was never caught, but Lewis Carrol, The writer of Alice in WonderLand " WICH IS NOT ABOUT DRUG USE!.." Was accused of being Jack the Ripper but of course he was never found Guilty.

p.s MCR IS FRIKIN AWESOME AND I LOVE THEM!!! tehe...

Exactly. Without the passion MCr put into it, it sounds like M. is reading a poem aloud which (to me) doesn't suit the song.

yeah, thepatient666, how do you know what i want to say ;-) i listened to the original and i think the way mcr play this song (fast, rough) fits better. morrissey makes it sound too harmonic i think...

This was originally sung by Morrissey. True background story to the song - Jack the Ripper was a man in the 20th century who went around murdering prostitutes. Nobody knows the real reason why but many theories have been thrown around. "Oh, you look so tired/Mouth slack and wide/Ill-housed and ill-advised/Your face is as mean/As your life has been". Describing the prostitute and her hard life, whatever it was it's driven her to prostitution. "Crash into my arms/I want you/You don't agree/But you don't refuse/I know you." She doesn't agree or refuse, she doesn't really want to but she has to. The "I want you" part is possibly more sinister than it seems. I don't know about "I know you." Maybe he thinks he's inside their heads. "And I know a place/Where no one is likely to pass/Oh, you don't care if it's late/And you don't care if you're lost/And oh, you look so tired." Gonna fuck her. He's telling her he knows a place they can go (duh). "You look so tired" -- he's sympathizing with her, making her think he's not out to get her. "(But tonight you presume too much)/Too much, too much/And if it's the last/Thing I ever do/I'm gonna get you." He's gonna kill her and she doesn't know it. He is determined.

I know I'll get slated for this, but this is one of the rare times that a Morrissey song is covered and is better than the original.

I'm a huge fan of both MCR and M, but I feel this song, the lyrics and all round feel of the song is suited better to the passion MCR put into it. The original is good, there's no debating that, but I think this one is better.

As for the meaning, it's pretty self explanitory.

Hmm, I've got another version of a song called 'Jack the Ripper'. It's definitely MCR and it's live, but the lyrics are not these ones..?

Can anyone help? And does anyone here know where you can find a good version of this song? Thanks!
