I think this song is about a guy who has a break up with a girl who doesn't really know what a realtionship should be. He knows waht it could be and should be and that's why he's not ok. Kind of depressing lyrics, but an overall exciting song. It has the ability to ease the sting of a break-up imo.

so yeah i'm pretty sure theres some kinda relationship/love story type thing in there but the way i enterprate it for myself is.. it's just an answer to the neverending question "are you okay." <-- i actually think i read that idea from someone who posted b4, but it makes sense. it's like "well.. actually.. yeah i'm not okay.. and are u gonna do anything about it? CAN you do anything about it? probably not. so just go away" atleast thats how i see it. like when your angry and people just won't leave you alone and just constantly ask "are you okay?" but it's like "do i look okay!?"

Once more, the song is about suicide, Gerard even said so himself.

I don't usually dig music like this too much, but I liked this song a lot. I burned a copy from my sister and the whole album isn't bad. Whoever said they weren't Emo was wrong though. Defintely what people refer to as Emo now-a-days.

This song is amazing. Its talking about how they are so fed up with people being jerks and at the end basically its payback. You know '3 cheers for sweet revenge'? Anyway i luv my chemical romance. i own 2 of their cds and i have been to 2 of their concerts. They are amazing.

well too me i think this songs about gerard and a girl (obviously) but this girl isnt like him, she's popular and good at everything. they like each other alot but she's ashamed of him because of all the dirty looks they get. and her jock boyfriend takes photos of them and threatens them with the photos.
so she pushes gerard away evern when he tells her to forget him. he kind of feels used in some ways but loves her so much it feels wrong and when she asks him if he's ok he answers truthfully that he not fucking okay.it makes him depressed and when he gets revenge on her and her boyfriend he feels ok.

this song is actually one of the worst on the cd if u ask me. but the cd still rocks. i'm not okay i promise is about him basically breaking the chain. and saying he's really not o-fucking-kay. and the chick/dude doesn't understand how much he like her/him. i love this songs i watched the video 10times-in-a-row. next week bought three cheers...next week had a friend burn i brought you my bullets.....next week they've replaced good charlotte and they are all i listen to over and over and over and over again. don't we all love them

My Chemical Romance Rocks! expecially Im Not Okay (i Promise) i have gotten all my friends into this song and when my best friend and i are out doing our thang we listen to this song when were fighting with our boyfriends i love this song and i could SO relate to this song i love it and the guys are hot!!! :o)

dudes, i watched the making of the "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)" video, and Gerard said that the song is about high school isolation. by the by, why'd they change it from "i'm not o-fucking-kay" to "i'm really not okay?" that sux, they coulda just bleeped it out like they do with every other damn song. jeez....

(but the pages all are torn and frayed). when she talks to him, he acts like everything's cool (i'm okay, you really need to listen to me because i'm telling you the truth, i mean this, i'm okay trust me), but deep down he's not okay, and thats what the whole songs about.

wow..this one goes out to mothra 666...i have to say i hate you...please tell me when you can tell if someones trying too hard and if maybe thats the way they really are...where is the line? MCR is 'punkasfuck' as you so kindly put it, and you know you dont really see the tabloids saying things like that because MCR is not part of the mainstream...meaning...they wouldnt try and please anyone if they didnt have to...they dont have to try and please you...they dont care about you...enough people like there stuff that they dont have to care about each individual fan...maybe next time, you'll shut ur mouth before dissing an amazing band who doesnt care about you
