Hi, I'm Evan, and this is my heart
I am Amy, and this is my heart
I am Chris, this is my heart
I am Torq, this is my heart

How the heart bends
And summer she sends
A sky that refuses to die
With weeds of the sea
That wrap 'round our knees
And a sun too hot to go down
You come around
You come around
You come around
You come around
You come around
You come around
You come around

How the heart bends
And summer she sends
A sky that refuses to die
With weeds of the sea
That wrap round our knees
And a sun too hot to go down
You come around
You come around
You come around
You come around
You come around
You come around
You come around
You come around
You come around
You come around
You come around
You come around
You come around
You come around

General Comment:i used to think the intro was lame but if you listen to it, it's kind of interesting. the beat is unusual, it goes:

    1-2-3-4/1-2-3/1-2-3-4/1-2/1-2-3-4/1-2-3/1-2-3-4

and it starts the loop over again.

then the rest of the song is in 3/4, which goes well with the guitar arpeggios and everything else.

i thought it was interesting how someone pointed out that nightsongs is the head and this is the heart. nightsongs is kind of cerebral and calculated electronic beats whereas this song has more of a natural and flowing feel to it.

i first heard this CD when I was 15 or 16, now I'm 24 and it seems like this CD matures with me.

General Comment:I don't think this song is meant to be as whimsical as most people seem to think it is. What did the snowman learn about love? He found a beach and a hot sun that wouldn't go down, and the sea came up around him. I'm assuming a snowman would melt after that. If that's love, it killed the snowman.

General Comment:I love that this song is written in 6/8 time. Adds a dreamy feel, rather than the standard, beat it out 4/4 time.

General Comment:good god, i agree with the_mime, the snowman is us! we harden ourselves, we control ourselves to the point that we prevent ourselves from loving sometimes.
And when love comes, that's when our heart is bent. ..and love is like the summer, it will melt our hearts, it will melt the snowman,

General Comment:The song is about how nothing lasts forever, even true love. The song talks about the love of summer, but is entitled what the snow man learned about love. We'll, snow men can't exist in the summer, so you have just let go sometimes. I listened to this song a lot when my friend died. Its a really touching tune.

General Comment:i agree with mr-numb that the song is written in the snowmans perspective. the sun is melting the snowman and making him open to love.

General Comment:I agree with you there the_mime, but it's written from the snowman's perspective, with the sun eating up the sea and wrapping round our knees implying melting. This negative view of the sun can also be seen in the way in which nature is depicted, as "a sky that refuses to die". Also, "You come around, you come around..." implies the passage of days. It's also worth noting the gender of snowMAN and "summer SHE" sends, almost as if the sun is the female destroying the relationship.
With this in mind then, it's almost as if the snowman is being melted by his lover- what the snowman learned about love is that it'll destroy him.

General Comment:I love how even though the title of the song talks about a snowman, the lyrics are about summer and heat and beaches.

As if love is summer. And summer melts the snow.
