She seems dressed in all of me
Stretched across my shame
All the torment and the pain
Leaked through and covered me
I'd do anything to have her to myself
Just to have her for myself
Now I don't know what to do
I don't know what to do
When she makes me sad

She is everything to me
The unrequited dream
A song that no one sings
The unattainable
she's a myth that I have to believe in
All I need to make it real is one more reason
I don't know what to do
I don;t know what to do
When she makes me sad

But I won't let this build up inside of me
But I won't let this build up inside of me
But I won't let this build up inside of me
But I won't let this build up inside of me

I catch in my throat
Choke
Torn into pieces
I won't, no
I don't want to be this

But I won't let this build up inside of me
(won't let this build up inside of me)
I won't let this build up inside of me
(won't let this build up inside of me)
I won't let this build up inside of me
(won't let this build up inside of me)
I won't let this build up inside of me
(won't let this build up inside of me, won't let this build up inside of me)

She isn't real
(won't let this build up inside of me)
I can't make her real
(won't let this build up inside of me)
She isn't real
(won't let this build up inside of me)
I can't make her real
(won't let this build up inside of me

My Interpretation:To me this song sounds like he's in love or obsessed or maybe intrigued with a girl he dreamed of. He wakes up and starts understanding she's unattainable, she's an unrequited dream.

When he says all he needs to make it real is one more reason sounds like that moment when you have a good dream, and you start waking up, so you try to think of something to snap you back into your dream.

But no matter how hard he tries, she isn't real, he can't make her real, she's just a dream.

The rest of the bits sound like any moment of incredible sadness and not knowing what to do.

General Comment:I percieve Corey is singing about a girl who he is obsessed with. She is beautiful and perfect in his eyes, yet she doesn't know he exists. This girl exists, yet the potential of being a relationship with this girl does not exist. "I can't make her real" refers to him wanting so bad to be in a relationship with her, yet she would never go out with him.

Memory:I love this song for a very special reason. I can relate to it in that, I have a fantasy relationship built up in my head with this absolutely amazingly beautiful girl who really exists but I know that I'll never get together with her and I think about her non-stop everyday. This song helps me a lot.

My Interpretation:This is sort of a love song.. But not really. It's more of a "God I love you but you don't love me like I do." It's antagonistic. The song is torn into two: I love you, but I don't b/c you don't love me so f*ck you..

    She is everything to me
    "the unrequited dream"
    She's a myth I want to believe
But I won't let this build up inside of me

    There's your contradiction.

General Comment:For me every time i listen to this song I don't hear a love song, it's more of an obsession which verges on murderous.

My Interpretation:This fits an old situation that still haunts me. I fell in love with someone that I could never have. A beautiful married woman. She and I had a connection but it was on a higher plane and never got physical. We had much more in common than her husband, a guy with model looks but not a lot of intelligence. She was very intelligent with model looks and we spent a lot of time together discussing things that her husband could never discuss. I knew she felt the same way as I did but we never once talked about it. We just felt it and knew it could never come to fruition. "She isn't real" means she might as well be a fantasy because I can never have her: "The unattainable", "The unrequited dream". "I won't let this build up inside of me", "I can't make her real" to me means I won't fool myself into thinking we will ever have a chance together and it kills me to realize that.

My Opinion:@Mandelqirl that's exactly what I think too, it's about the idealization of a perfect person for him (She seemed dressed in all of me) in his day-dreams (she ins't real, I can't make her real) and falling in love with this imaginary person (She is everything to me) and feeling ashamed bc of this (But I won't let this build up inside of me)

Basicaly that, that's my opinion cuz I have recently done the same, I have imagined a perfect person in my dreams and when I heard this song I just knew it was about that.

My Opinion:To be honest, I didn't read through all of the comments, so I don't know whether someone already wrote what I'm going to write right now. :)

In my opinion, it's about the speaker creating his dreamgirl in his mind, like in his day dreams. He's thinking about her his whole days, knowing she isn't real and won't ever get real, what's the part where she hurts him. That's basically it.

Song Meaning:The differences (between the two tracks) are subtle — 'Vermilion, Pt. 1' is about the enrapturing, the buildup, the anticipation and the neurosis," says Taylor. "'Part 2' is the aftermath, the pieces that have to be picked up later, and maybe the guilt of having lived through it.". Both songs are said to be about lost or unrequited love from a possibly suicidal person's perspective

My Opinion:If you ask me, people dig too deep into the artist. To me, music is about self-interpretation and taking it in the way you feel it. We wouldn't like a song if we didn't feel some type of connection to it. You people talking trash and all that hate definately takes away what music is for. Music is suppose to bring us together, it helps us to understand one another in a very powerful and spiritual way, whatever form it comes in, weather you realize it to be that way or not. STOP HATING!
