Good and bad
I swear I've had them both, they're overrated
But is it fun
When you get hold of one
Some gone bad
And some gone back
Good ones all get taken I'm callin' bluff
You ain't strong enough

Wait and pray you'll pick on me
the day I raise my hand
Guess that I've been nice but I'll be damned

Halo
God only knows
Right behind me everywhere I go
Halo
God only knows
Right behind me everywhere I go

Say your prayers when you get scared
Pray you're gonna make it
And then when you're done
You keep fucking up
One day soon I'll disappear
And if you'll come I'll take you somewhere to go
To keep from growing old

Wait and pray you'll pick on me
the day I raise my hand
Guess that I've been nice but I'll be damned

Halo
God only knows
Right behind me everywhere I go
Halo
God only knows
Right behind me everywhere I go
Oh, oh, oh

Disappear, the light is fading
Disappear, outside their rage
Disappear, I'm tired of waiting
Disappear before we get away

Halo
God only knows
Right behind me everywhere I go
Halo
God only knows
Right behind me everywhere I go
oh, oh oh

General Comment:for crying out loud. this song is about Grohl being a christian rocker (which is very rare btw) and other people reject him for being a christian! just look at the line, "wait and pray youll pick on me the day i raise my hand. guess that ive been blessed but ill be damned." in this line he doesnt know how to handle with other peoples opinions about his beliefs.

General Comment:Why does everyone refer to Kurt Cobain as Kurt? I just found it a little weird that everyone talks about Dave Grohl and Kurt Cobain like they all had dinner last week...

General Comment:Dave always seems to be singing about girls. I'm inclined to agree with his angst about society in that way too.

I had a feeling that this song is about trying to convince people that you are an honest person, when really inside you don't believe yourself all the time, you just try. People notice this honesty you portray and you are praised for it.

But the self-doubt becomes a part of you, you become dishonest to yourself. All those lies and mistakes you made while insisting that you were being honest and everyone else was dishonest have come to destroy you.

I'm not to sure on how accurate it is, but I could probably do a breakdown if I tried... I'm too lazy right now.

General Comment:Read the book "Left Behind" then listen to this song. It could be about the rapture and the second coming of Christ. Or not.

General Comment:Just by listening to the introduction of this song you can help but think it is about women in general for crying out loud...

General Comment:Just because Dave was in Nirvana doesn't mean EVERYTHING FUCKING SONG by them is about Kurt Cobain. Maybe a couple here and there, but I'm sick of seeing every fucking comment about every fucking Foo's song saying something like, "ooh this is about kurt cobain" or something like that.

What this song is really about, is about how everybody thinks he is doing something wrong but inside he knows he is right and is hoping God is on his side.

I really don't see a fucking reference to Kurt Cobain here.

General Comment:eatlotacheese's idea seems to be the one that the lyrics of the song conform to best out of all of these ideas, so maybe he/she's right. I figured the 'halo' might be the burden of fame changing the way that Grohl can experience personal relationships, but that doesn't fit as well.

General Comment:It reminds me of being the freind that a girl never likes in that way. But they keep them around because theyre easy to talk to. Thats what i think david is talking about.

General Comment:I've said it once, I'll say it again. Not every Foo Fighters song is about Kurt Cobain or drugs.

This song is great and that's all there is to it.

General Comment:i agree with laupmit, everyone thinks every song Dave writes is about kurt, its so annoying. There is no doubt about it that this song is about death. This song is so awsome one of the best Foo songs

    FOO FIGHTERS ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
