I built this house
With my own hands
But she just came
And heard the plans
She found the safe
And cracked the code
She grabbed the goods
And hit the road

And I'm
Feeling glum
Oh, oh, girl
You're the one

Who shut off my electricity
Explained we just lack chemistry
And on the walls and on the shelves
She hung up pictures of herself

And I'm keeping one
Oh, oh, girl
You're the one

That makes it hard to
Lock my doors at night
Even my fire alarms don't work right
And as I try to sleep I
Glance next doors
And all I see is his lips touching yours
Oh girl

I will dig a hole and label it love
Trick her to fall in from above
Strategically placed at the front door
I'll coax her to come back to get more

And now
I'm feeling dumb
Oh, oh, girl
You're the one

That makes it hard to
Lock my doors at night
Even my fire alarms don't work right
And as I try to sleep I
Glance next doors
And all I see is his lips touchings yours
Oh girl

General Comment:It may also be about him being in a relationship with a girl, and then another comes in and breaks them up. He ends up falling for the "homewrecker" but she moves on and he still loves her and hopes she'll come back.

General Comment:I think he was interested in a girl who was not interested in him. She moved on easily but he is not able to. His "house" is still a mess and he still has hope, wanting to win her back. Even though she hurt him it's hard for him to "lock his doors" because he would still gladly accept her back into his life/house.

General Comment:homewrecker07's explanation makes sense too,
but i'm gonna share what I thought of when I first heard it.

He built his dream house, dream life with someone,
and the 'homewrecker' ruins it and relplaces the pictures with her own, kind of a metaphor for his feelings changing from being towards his real girlfriend to going towards the homewrecker. but the homewrecker doesn't have feelings towards him so he's trying to change her mind.
    idk it's hard to explain.

General Comment:What I get from this is it's about this guy who had a girlfriend. He still loves her, but she was never in love with him to begin with-- reason why he needs to trick her into tripping into his hole of love? haha. Anyway, she was with another guy the whole time and was using this boy here for something of some sort. Once she got what she needed, she left him wrecked and this is just his story... does that make sense?

**not hole of love. this is ment as if she will fall into the hole of love; i.e. falling deeply in love with him

General Comment:I'm pretty much on the same page as you with this song, Homewrecker07. Except I'd like to add that perhaps he can't bear to part with all the "pictures" that she hung up, so he's keeping one.

General Comment:I think the house is like the walls he has built to protect himself. And the "cracking the code" is finding a way into his heart. The girl like messed up his whole life "burning the plans". And "hanging up pictures of herself" is his mind picturing her but she messed him up so he got rid of all of them apart from one. And then the third verse "strategically placed at the front door" is him tricking her to fall back in love with him.

    Freeekin Great tune =]
