So there's my baby
Laughing at me in the sun
Wonder if I'm the weaker one
I feel so far away from home
Always so far away

The Pacific will pacify us when we're done
If only we weren't always spun
I feel so far away from home
Always so far away

From El Caminos in the west
All collapsed and futureless
I'll paint the words a simple wish
For peace of mind and happiness
El Caminos in the west
We're all collapsed and futureless
I'll paint the words a simple wish
For peace of mind and happiness

Doo doo doo

Here comes the chaos
Perfectly on time again
Is it ever gonna end
I feel so far away from home
Always so far away

The demolition still can be a lot of fun
Someone should tell me that I'm done
I feel so far away from home
Always so far away

From El Caminos in the west
All collapsed and futureless
I'll paint the words a simple wish
For peace of mind and happiness
El Caminos in the west
We're all collapsed and futureless
I'll paint the words a simple wish
For peace of mind and happiness

Doo doo doo

General Comment:Have none of you seen the "El Caminos in the West"? This artist took a bunch of El Caminos and half burried them in the dirt at a 60 degree angle. Sort of like Stonehenge.

By the way, this has to be my favorite music video. Little girls trying for "World Rock Domination." Little girls with beards trashing hotel rooms. Little girls drinking (root)beers and smoking (candy)cigarettes. Ha! Priceless!

General Comment:I think this song is about missing home when you're away somewhere faraway. Seeing as Grandaddy was formed in Modesto, California, I think it's about thinking of the West and just plain pining to be back home. In today's fast-paced world of technology and change, it's just comforting to think of the past and where you came from. I think this song is just about a search for a peaceful and fulfilling life in a society that seems to be moving faster everyday. Just my two cents anyway...

General Comment:"so there's my baby laughing at me in the sun" a sense of being infeirior in comparison. "The pacific pacify us..." the comfort of life going on no matter what. "feel so far away" lost? all being considered, its about the univeral wish for peace and happieness.
