Lyrics for Alive with the Glory Of Love as interpreted by trinket

Alive with the Glory Of Love Lyrics
When I watch you, wanna do you, right where you're standing...yeah
Right on the foyer, on this dark day, right in plain view...oh, yeah
Of the whole ghetto, the boot-stomped meadows, but we ignore that, yeah
You're lovely baby, this war is crazy, I won't let you down...oh, no no...

No, I won't let them take you, won't let them take you...Hell, no no...
Oh, no…I won't let them take you, won't let them take you...Hell, no no...
No, oh no, no, no...

And when our city vast and shitty falls to the Axis, yeah...
They'll search the buildings, collect gold fillings, wallets, and rings...oh, yeah
But Miss Black Eyeliner, you'd look finer with each day in hiding, oh yeah
Beneath the wormwood, ooooo, love me so good...
They won't hear us screw away the day
I'll make you say:

“Alive! Alive! Alive with love, alive with love tonight...”
“Alive! Alive! Alive with love, alive with love tonight...”

(No, I won't let them take you, won't let them take you...Hell, no no...
Whoa, no...I won't let them take you, won't let them take you...Hell, no no...)

Our Treblinka is alive with the glory of love...
Treblinka, alive with the glory of love! Yeah!

(Okay, speed it up...Go!)

Should they catch us and dispatch us to those separate work camps
I'll dream about you, I will not doubt you with the passing of time...Oh, yeah
Should they kill me, your love will fill me as warm as the bullets, yeah
I'll know my purpose: this war was worth this
I won't let you down

No, I won’t
No, I won’t
No, I won’t

(Alive! Alive! Alive with love, alive with love tonight...)
Hell no, no..Whoa, no, I won't let them take you, won't let them take you..Hell, no, no
No! No!

dude, you guys all need to chill about boroaskitur.
i doubt she is really stupid enough to think her situation is like the holocaust.
its like how my cousins ex was a terrible person, so we always refered to him as hitler
and to her as a jew. i bet a lot of you will get pissed about that and think were
disrespecting the people who were in camps now, but what the eff ever.
if youd get pissed about that, why would you like this song?
WHICH BY THE WAY IS AMAZING and that is my main point!

This song was written for Max's Grandparents who were in the holocaust.
I thought it was very deep. How even though they were seperated they didn't lose hope.

In regards to the lyrics "Miss Black Eyeliner, you'd look finer with each day in hiding," I'm personally getting a feeling that rather than eye liner its actually referring to black rings from lack of sleep

(haven't finished reading comments apologies if som1 beat me to it)

So . I don`t know if anyone else said this .
But , I read on Wikipedia ( I know , it can be wrong ),
that this song is about his grandparents .
" His maternal grandparents were survivors of the Holocaust, which was the inspiration for the song, 'Alive With the Glory of Love' . "
Just throwing that out there .

this song is really one of my favorites... my bro showed me a vid on youtube that some ppl did a cover of this song for a contest by say anything i think... anyway, they said they reaslly showed the joy that the song was supposed to show, so i think this song is also about the joy of love and how that helped them through their horrible holocaust experience...? if u think im completely wrong, im sorry... bt i think thats part of it. there is deffinately a lot more tho...
the link to that vid... copy and paste...

If you've ever read 1984 by George Orwell, it's pretty obvious that that's what the song is about.

A couple separated by war. As simple as that.

Well after reviewing the lyrics to this song and carefully considering them, I have come to the conclusion that this song is most likely about pirates. Treblinka is most likely the name of his ship, and when they talk about gold fillings they are referring to the pirates treasure.

This song is great the way it is -- but I also picture it as a great anti-war anthem.

Americans instead of the Axis, Fallujah instead of Treblinka, and "if they catch me, and dispatch me, to Guantanamo Bay... I'll dream about you, I will not doubt you, with the passing of time..."

I picture a music video taking place in a small town in the middle east, to humanize and show that all those people killed are people just like us. And a couple is hiding out from American soldiers, and the guy is accused of being a terrorist and taken away and tortured at guantanamo etc. "I'll know my purpose, this war was worth this, I won't let you doooown..."

i agree w/ beckybizarre.

the songs about a love between two people being basically unbreakable. even if eveyone outside of the relationship disapproves and intolerates it. (like the nazis with the jews), they wont be broken.friends or lovers.

"Should they catch us and dispatch us to those separate work camps
I'll dream about you, I will not doubt you with the passing of time...Oh, yeah"

he uses the holocaust as an example.

great song :D

You guys are right; it's about the holocaust, sex, and love...I'd like to believe the persona was sincere in saying he was in love and all...but then again, this could be a play on words and emotions...hehe...to each his own interpretation...

What I like about the song is that it's very happy and energetic despite the dark setting...it would've been really cool if they still had enough energy and "will" to be all horny...hahaha...really catchy...I found that the song grows on you...:D The songwriting's pretty direct (ghetto, boot-stomped meadows, work camps, treblinka - words that conjure images of the world war and genocide)and it makes for a good song you can tap your feet to...It's interesting that music can refer to really heavier issues...and yet it's a bit ironic that sometimes the horrific experience people had went through can be "reduced" to a song we can tap our feet to. It's not an empty song, but it's not entirely sophisticated and clever either...Anyway, "Alive with the Glory of Love" is not the greatest song ever (for me at least) but I like it anyway...:D

Decent song. Those of you saying that this guy is the best songwriter ever have never heard of John K. Samson of the Weakerthans or Bob Dylan. Max isn't bad, but he comes no where close to Dylan or John K. Isaac Brock, Jeff Magnum, Ben Gibbard, Avey Tare, etc. etc. are all songwriters I admire more than Max.

This song, in short:

"Fuck it - I'm alive, you're alive, and I want you so bad right now. Let's just see what they can do to us when we have each other as close as possible. Sex, right here right now."

If anyone has read the book 1984 this song relates to it a lot. Talking about the tree, falling to the Axis, taking all of their things, "I wont let them take you", how he dreams about her, how she wore makeup, and how he said he wanted to do her in plain view.

To me, this song is about two people who love eachother strongly and don't care about what the rest of the world thinks about it, and there are people trying to take them away from eachother. Perhaps one of them is more attractive than the other, or one comes from a wealthier family, ect.

There's no denying that these lyrics do talk about the Holocaust. I think that's so because the band may have wanted to make the song stronger. Most bands, when comparing love to war, use the word "war" vaguely. So the trials and obstacles that the aforementioned couple must face are harder.

But that's just my interpretation of the song. :/
