"robots" could just be nonsense. of which i'm a fan of. but it could also be about all the technology around us and how much we depend on it, love it, fucking ourselves with our technology. social commentary! how exciting

there is a certain pattern to this. robots fucking in the minimall, i'm not sure of what that has to do with tv, but it's the only one repeated and there are several basic cable channels with clones (2 abc's), carwash is a movie, but also might've referred to a commercial. sitcoms are all over the television. west wing was a series. white house might be referring to c-span. a subway is another one that isn't directly obvious, but they might've just been flipping channels whilst writing this song or doing something, and they made observations to whatever was on tv? a j-z video would be on some music channel, and tom brokaw and oprah are also on tv. so i'm sure there's a link somehow with tv which after the fact , there's plenty of things the song could be about. Either how tv has turned us into robots, or there's some sort of fucking, either literal or figurative with each of the things, or maybe simply they were horny and wanted to write a song about fucking [:

that seems relevant, but it is too out there, some of them, like that mini mall and the car wash. too indirect. Even so I still love this song

this song is about robots who are fucking almost everywhere ... there are some robots among us -
---> http://blog.modernmechanix.com/2006/04/17/there-are-robots-among-us/

... and they start to take over the world - they show us sex, sex, sex and even more sex because it stops us from feeling the divine love - SEX is, has been and it always will be an EGO program...

but itīs great ! and the song is even greater

With the exception of the carwash, all the places the robots are fucking are clearly tied to mass media or consumerism; although the carwash is not necessarily inconsistent.
I think this song is about the way that sex is commodified by consumer culture. Sex, as human beings experience it, is about pleasure, love, and procreation, all of which are outside the ambit of a robotic existence. While sex sells, the commodification of sex takes all the fun and the meaning out of it - sex is of no use to robots, and the sex we buy into in the commercial marketplace lacks any of the elements that make sex worthwhile. The impersonal vocorder "vocals" on this song make it a piece of meta-art, showing media depersonalization of sex by the example of a depersonalized song about fucking. Is there anything genuinely sexy in the song? Is anyone actually aroused?
My feeling is that this song is a way of pointing out the absurdity of the sexualization of marketing by associating it with robot fucking - an act of pseudo sex more desperate, pointless and impersonal than masturbation. In essence, buying into the culture that sexualizes consumerism makes us into fucking robots.
