Here I go again
Slipping further away
Letting go again
Of what keeps me in place
I like it here
But it scares me to death
There is nothing here

Hmmm mm mmmm mmmm
Hmmm mm mmmmm
Hmmm mm mmmmm mmmm
Hmmm mm mmmmm

The light is beautiful
But I'm darker than life
And you are wonderful
But this moment is mine

All of this dust
All of this past
All of this over and gone and never coming back
All of this forgotten
Not by me

I find comfort here
'Cause I know what is lost
Hope is always fear
For the pain that we cost
And I have searched for the reason to go on
And I've tried and I've tried
But its taken me so long
I might be better off
Closing my eyes
And god will come looking for me in time

All of this dust
All of this past
All of this over and gone and never coming back
All of this forgotten
Not by me

All of this dust
All of this past
All of this over and gone and never coming back
All of this forgotten
Not by me

I can see myself
I look peaceful and pale
But underneath I can barely inhale
I can hear myself singing the song
Over and over until it belongs
To me

Hmmm mm mmmm mmmm
Hmmm mm mmmmm
Hmmm mm mmmmm mmmm
Hmmm mm mmmmm

Its being deeply attached to the past and not being able to let go.

"Here I go again slipping further away Letting go again Of all that keeps me in place I like it here But it scares me to death There is nothing here"

She tries to move forward but she's so scared that she keeps going back to her past for comfort even though theres nothing left of it.

"Light is beautiful But I'm darker than light And you are wonderful But this moment is mine"

She appreciates the fact the world is beautiful but then she feels that her life is too dark. She appreciates the other person but kinda doesnt have place for them in her world.

"All of this dust All of this past All of this over And gone and never coming back All of this forgotten But not by me"

Nothing is left of her past and its never coming back but she hasnt forgetten anything.

"I find comfort here 'Cause I know what is lost Hope is always fear For the pain it may cost And I've searched for Reason to go on And I've tried and tried But it's taking me so long I might be better off closing my eyes And God will come looking for me In time"

Since she has experienced so much hurt n pain n lost parts of her she prefers to go back. Alot of time we enter new relationships or experiences really hopeful they'll turn out good but she's scared of hope itself therefore moving forward becoz those experiences cause pain. She wants to live but she cant find any reason and shes give up hoping God will eventually find her.

"I can see myself I look peaceful and pale But underneath I can barely Inhale I can hear myself Singing that song Over and over until it belongs to me"

Outside shes a completely different person from what she is on the inside.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
