Take a photograph; it'll be the last.
Not a dollar or a crowd could ever keep me here.

I dont have a past, I just have a chance.
Not a family or honest plea remains to say

Rain, rain, go away,
Come again another day,
All the world is waiting for the sun.

Is it you I want,
Or just the notion of a heart to wrap around,
so I can find my way around

Safe to say from here,
You're getting closer now,
We are never sad
cause we are not allowed to be

Rain, rain, go away,
Come again another day,
All the world is waiting for the sun.

Rain, rain, go away,
Come again another day,
All the world is waiting for the sun.

To lie here under you,
is all that I could ever do,
To lie here under you is all...
To lie here under you,
is all that I could ever do,
To lie here under you is all...

Rain, rain, go away,
Come again another day,
All the world is waiting for the sun.

Rain, rain, go away,
Come again another day,
All the world is waiting for the sun,
All the world is waiting for the sun,
All the world is waiting for the sun.

My Interpretation:To me, the Rain seems like a simple symbol for pain and depression. I base this mostly on the chorus and refrain.

"Rain, rain/ go away/ come again another day/ all the world is waiting for the sun"
Everyone just wishes it would stop, and go away for a little while. We know it can't be gone forever, but we all want it to just go and come back later.

"To lie here under you/ is all that I could ever do"
What choice does he have but to just lay down and take the rain? He gives in, and just tries to put up with the misery.

As for the first verse, I see it mostly as just him wanting to get away from it all. The second verse is him questioning whether or not a relationship can really help him feel fulfilled.
And of course the line "We are never sad/ 'cause we are not allowed to be"
I like the line, and the interpretation saying nobody is allowed to express sadness, because society dislikes it and all, I just can't figure out how it fits with the rest of the verse.

It's a beautiful song, I love its simplicity and relaxed-ness.

My Interpretation:I like to beleive every song has a meaning...this song i beleive is from the standpoint of a person who is in a situation that is less than enjoyable to say the least and is looking for a way out. This song has great power in its lyrics lake so many Breaking Ben songs do. the chorus is simply put: in these hard times were all in pain but you wont find anyone who would admit it, hense the lyrics "we are never sad because we are not allowed to be" i say this as you can imagine in a very personal sense and im sure now thinking of a time where you felt the same. we have all had these moments and we are all looking for the sun to come out and save us. "All the world is waiting for the sun"

General Comment:I love this song! It's one of those songs that you wanna hear when you feel like getting away from the world. I think it's about him and a girl. And he wants to just be happy, not deal with anything, but he wonders if he's truly in love or if he is just in desperate need of feeling something.

General Comment:Maybe the dudes just getting tired of being on the road and wants to spend time doing other stuff like making or spending time with family or even relaxing under the sun lol... I'm pretty sure it was written about suicide thats just not cool. :D

General Comment:Love this song, puts me to sleep half the time I listen to it. The songs tone perfectly matches the rain going on in the back ground. Something about rain has that calming effect. Honestly, based on the lyrics, its probably about a relationship; but the things I thing I think of when I hear it is life, and how we are always searching for something better than where were at now, and were never truly happy. But maybe I'm being overdramatic and reading into it to much, maybe its just about wanting to find something better at the end of a long unhappiness. I don't know, I'm getting sleepy just thinking about it.

This is my absolute favorite part of the song. I recently discovered it, but only because a close friend of mine recently passed away. This part of the song just really speaks to me because all the time, someone is experiencing some kind of loss or pain (the rain), and they're just waiting for the goodness to return (the sun). Good song.

General Comment:When I listen to it I think of some hopeless situation which one cannot escape. Not depression, but just the desire for more, but not having the resources to achieve what 'more' is.

In my case it's just my situation right now. I'm a history buff, but have no means to express my love of it other than at school where it seems like I'm 'showing off', which I'm not, when I correct a student or teacher or offer my knowledge in class. Or how I have to to redundant summer homework to attend classes which I qualify for when I read books just as, if not more, meaningful than the ones I am force to read.

Basically I see it as a song for someone who is biding their time, patiently, until they can do something 'more' with themselves than their current situation allows them to.

General Comment:I don't understand why people think this song has anything directly to do with a relationship or suicide.
The song is called RAIN, so IMHO this song is BY rain, FOR rain and ABOUT rain.

    Take a photograph,
    It'll be the last,
Not a dollar or a crowd could ever keep me here,

(I believe this is like the rain is talking: Take a picture of me, it'll be the last cause you'll never see me again once I hit the ground. Meaning you can never take a picture of the same drop of rain twice. Then he says that nothing could make him stop on his way down, no matter how many people are looking at him or paying him, the rain doesn't stop for anyone. Very beautiful way of describing rain which can if you want relate to so many things in life, but ultimately I believe it's about rain.)

    I don't have a past
    I just have a chance,
Not a family or honest plea remains to say,

(The rain doesn't have a past, though of course no raindrop is new since it's the same water that falls down for millions of years, the life of a single raindrop looked at as a new life is very short, flies by very fast, and because of that the rain has no past, no family to stay with, and no one is bidding the rain to stay anyway)

    Rain rain go away,
    Come again another day,
All the world is waiting for the sun.

(The refrain could be by someone, or in other words most people on this planet, that dislikes rain and wants it to go away. Very sad IMO since I REALLY love rain and snow, I can't stand the damn sun (no I'm not emo lol, I just love the wonders of nature) but sadly most poeple can't stand the rain.)

    Is it you I want,
    Or just the notion
Of a heart to wrap around so I can find my way around

(IMHO the band tries to really make the song about rain but still understood as a metaphor for so many other things which is seen in this part clearly. Clearly can be seen as singing about a girl or about the rain, very innocent yearning for belonging and desire to know where to go in life. I find comfort in rain as I'm sure some people do, everyone finds comfort in the arms of a loving person. So one can say this is the guys wondering if he really wants/needs the rain/her.)

    Safe to say from here,
    You're getting closer now,
We are never sad cause we are not allowed to be

(Obviously can be seen again as being about the rain itself, either can be interpreted as the rain seeing the ground clearly coming closer but not being allowed to be sad. OR one can say that someone is on his back looking at the first rain drops falling from the sky. Though I think it's more likely to be the first interpretation. Here it's clearly about the RAIN with hardly leaving a place to be interpreted as about something else. Why? WE are never sad, WE! That's plural, obviously coming from the raindrops.)

    To lie here under you,
Is all that I could ever do,
To lie here under you is all,
To lie here under you is all that i could ever do,
To lie here under you is all,

(Now, to interpret this as being about a relationship could be sexual to say the least, so obviously this is again mostly about the rain and him on his back giving in to the wonders of the rain. "To lie here under you is all that I could ever do," clearly shows that he's giving in, he lets the rain fall on him abandoning the dilemma if he really wants/needs the rain. AGAIN this can be a metaphor for a relationship BUT is CLEARLY about the rain.)

    IMHO

    General Comment:My thoughts:

"Take a photograph; it'll be the last.
Not a dollar or a crowd could ever keep me here."

He wants to move on from the life he has now and start over,
even if it means leaving people who love him behind.
    He's basically saying,
"remember me because I'm leaving, but no one could pay me or beg me enough to stay like I am now."

"I dont have a past, I just have a chance.
Not a family or honest plea remains to say

    Rain, rain, go away,
    Come again another day,
All the world is waiting for the sun."

I think in this part he's acting like a loner a bit because he says he doesn't have a past, which I'm guessing means that his past doesn't exactly reflect on him, and he'd like to forget it.
but when he says "Not a family or honest plea remains to say [chorus]" that he feels alone and like no one is looking out for him anymore. He wants someone to take away all of his pain.

    "Is it you I want,
Or just the notion of a heart to wrap around,
so I can find my way around"

Well, this clears up who this song is directed to. It's to someone he thinks he loves and is probably the only reason he hasn't moved on. This person gives him a reason to want to hold on to what he has, but he's becoming convinced that he doesn't really love this person, and that he was just looking for someone to hold onto, or someone he can look to for guidance and help.

    "Safe to say from here,
    You're getting closer now,"

So by now he thinks that this person is "getting closer" or,
becoming more attached to him, and vice versa.. he is getting more attached also.

    "We are never sad
cause we are not allowed to be"

I'm not quite sure about this line. I think it could mean that they are both faking happiness for each other so that they don't hurt eachother,
or it might be something to do with him trying to be strong for everyone else, and he feels like he's not allowed to be sad in order to make everyone happy.

    "Rain, rain, go away,
    Come again another day,
All the world is waiting for the sun.

    Rain, rain, go away,
    Come again another day,
All the world is waiting for the sun."

So now he just wants to be happy..

    "To lie here under you,
is all that I could ever do,
To lie here under you is all...
    To lie here under you,
is all that I could ever do,
To lie here under you is all..."

He feels like he just is totally dependent on this person, and feels as though all he "could ever do" is just be with this person, and nothing more.
