Twelfth and Hide on a Sunday
Feeling like we're gold
And we're nothing short of invincible

It starts again, can you feel it
It takes your breath away
Stop saying that w're invincible

It's round and round
You're uninviting, unrewarding
And I'm misinforming you

[pre chorus]
We all want to be somebody
Right now we're just looking for the exit

[chorus]
This is the way I would have done things
Up against the wall
You got me up against your wall

It's you and me on a Monday
The lies that we told
This is where we both go numb now
You broke my heart again this time
You're fading now you crossed the line

[repeat pre chorus and chorus]

Reaching out for a hand that's not there
But you're not there, you're not there

This is the way I would have done things
Up against the wall, up against your wall
This is the way we should have done things
When we're up against the wall, up against the wall

[repeat chorus to end]

My Opinion:I never knew this band was a "christian band". And I'm not so sure they are, but I guess they could be. Given the lyrics in their songs. But I don't understand why people keep saying they're such a horrible band. I mean, if you don't like them anymore, don't click on a link to their songs. Go to the lyrics of the songs you like, don't post hateful comments on songs that other people may very much enjoy. I happen to like this band. Oh yeah, and I like Taking Back Sunday. If this isn't your type of music, stop complaining. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean other people don't.

Anyway, I love this song! Chorus is my favorite part.

General Comment:Aaron: That song is about when somebody puts you between a rock and a hard place. Like all your grace has run out, all your love for a person has run out, they've just stepped on you and stepped on you and stepped on you, and you're really just stuck and you don't really know what's next. You're like, well, here I am, I'm stuck up against the wall and there's nothing I can do.

General Comment:It's kinda ridiculous that to get to ONE comment about this song, I had to sift through pages of people whining because Dallas was gone. First of all, in my opinion, nearly everything they did with Dallas was terrible. There were maybe 3 songs I could tolerate. Second, things change, lineups change. Quit whining. If you like it, keep listening. If you dont, stop. Quit clouding up comment sections with your complaints.

Great song, good meaning too. I miss Aaron though. As much as I love Daniel, Aaron's voice tied everything together beautifully.

General Comment:i thought this website was called "Songmeanings" not "hateonbands.com" if u don't like new underoath then keep ur comments reserved 2 either A. old underoath w/ dallas or B. dallas's new band Maylene and The Sons of Disaster. this is supposed 2 be a site where u post lyrics n state wat u think the song means. if u have nothin better 2 do than 2 hate on someone that'll make more money than ull make in ur lifetime 4 doin wat he loves instead of bein an adult and respecting him for wat he's doin and the new heights Spencer took the band on the success scale then u outta go back 2 school and learn about life. cus face it, if dallas remained in underoath they woulda got nowhere not even half as far as they got now. society as a whole is more ready to embrace songs that contain some screaming vs. dallas's inhale screaming that he used at the time. now that dallas got taught by melissa cross, the best n only screaming vocal coach in the country if not world, he might be on spencers lvl. spencer was taught by melissa cross be4 getting into underoath. he can do any kind of scream u can imagine including pig screams, he's a phenomenal vocalist that can't be touched in terms of brutalness by anyone unless they were taught by melissa cross as well. so w/ that being said im gonna say wat i think this song is about since its WAT THIS SITE IS FOR!!!

i think this song is about the protagonist of the song making the wrong decisions being mixed in with the wrong crowd and climbing out realizing what wrong he's done and embracing god "Reaching out for a hand that's not there
But you're not there, you're not there" god's not there but god is. the protagonist made piece with god finally after recounting the events that unfolded before he realized he was on the wrong path. great song, beautiful words!(something that dallas couldn't fathom hence the explanation 4 him getting kicked outta the band)

General Comment:The meaning that makes the most sense to me is this: a relationship in which both people feel like they have to pretend to be someone else to be loved by someone else. Neither one of them are giving the other one room to feel like they can be themselves.

"Twelfth and Hide on a Sunday
    Feeling like we're gold
And we're nothing short of invincible"

I don't know about the twelfth part, but the Hide part is capitalized (as in Mr. Hide? Being two people?) or they're hiding their true emotions from eachother. But at this point they don't care and they're just enjoying being together. It's that period of time at the beginning of a relationship where you just feel like everything is just perfect.

"It starts again, can you feel it
    It takes your breath away
    Stop saying that we're invincible"
This is describing the feeling at the beginning of the relationship but he's warning the other person to not feel "invincible" because they're not. The way that they're pretending to be someone else will make the relationship fall apart.

    "It's round and round
    You're uninviting, unrewarding
    And I'm misinforming you"

Round and round is how the same things happen between the two such as arguments, and the he's saying that the other person is not worth being around and he's giving her false signals to keep the relationship going.

"We all want to be somebody
Right now we're just looking for the exit"
Both of them want to just be who they want to be but they're trying to find the way to get out of this constrained relationship.

"This is the way I would have done things
    Up against the wall
You got me up against your wall"
Explaining that the singer woulf have done things differently in the relationship but his partner doesn't give him room to do anything.

"It's you and me on a Monday
    The lies that we told
This is where we both go numb now
You broke my heart again this time
You're fading now you crossed the line"

Sunday comes right after Monday so basically its showing how quick the love in the relationship is fading. They tell lies to stay together. Both of them know that they're lying but they're numb so they don't care. They hurt eachother so much that they don't mean anything to eachother.

"Reaching out for a hand that's not there
But you're not there, you're not there"

They're trying to find some help or some love between them but they're not there for eachother anymore.

Makes the most sense to me... anyone agree?

General Comment:How the heck can you say Spencer sucks? He is an AMAZING vocalist for Underoath. I've been an Underoath fan for about a year now and I didn't even know there used to be other singers in Underoath... I've listened to the other vocalists for the band and Spencer is just as good as them, I thought Spencer was the vocalist the whole way through. Underoath are an incredibly amazing band. If you think Spencer sucks at screaming you need a relaity check

General Comment:I like how song meanings turned into rip on the current standing of the band. If you don't think chamberlain is legit, check out 'this runs through' the pre-underoath chamberlain project. A great scream.

As for this song, I think it's about being in a relationship where neither person ends it but maybe knows it should be ended. Instead they lead a lie, or fake relationship.

General Comment:I think this song is from God's point of view, and he's being pushed out of another guys life, and has God pinned against the wall, and God's trying to reach out and take his hand to help him, but the hand isnt there.
